IMHO, PS3 is more common... we've only got Wii so far not much game but we only play tennis and wife doing yoga on Wii fit... lol...

Graphic wise perhaps PS3 is better plus you can use it for bluray player too.

If you wanna play online, get an Xbox.

When Call of Duty 4 first came out I'd jump on and find a good Aussie game instantly. Went around to my friends place where he had it for the PS3 and we'd spend 5min finding a game and then jumping in and out of games trying to find an Aussie one. No one has head sets on the PS3 either, everyone on xbox does. The online... navigator I guess you'd call it, on the xbox is better too. Being able to make friends, find friends, invite and view gamer info etc. I remember PS3 being a real pain in the ass for that sort of thing.

Better games in my opinion too. Forza 2 is just as good as GT5, so you're not losing out there. Fallout 3 and Fable 2 just to name a couple of recent ones.

Depends on what kinds of games you want to play, have a look at the "exclusive" games for each console then decide.

For me, so far its PS3, & its just coz I want to play Resident Evil 5.

I'm a PC geek btw, & I don't own neither system, so pretty unbiased to neither system.

Forza 2 is just as good as GT5??!?!?!?!

i think NOT!!! LoLz

final fantasy series, gran turismo series, resident evil series, tekken series, street fighter series...the list goes on...xbox has alot of first person shooters and good online game play...but i have a PC for that.

PS3 also have the advantage of having a blueray and can play games at full HD 1080p. I just think its the better out of the 3.

Wii for fun with a group of people, xbox is beaten by the PC, PS3 is for ultimate entertainment. My opinion

dude they have the newest street fighter on the 360 get things right before u start talking prolouge of gt5 was crap and im a huge fan of gran turismo but still the biggest multiplayer game online is halo 3 always more than 100 000 people online no matter what time of the day

LoL i didn't say xbox didn't have street fighter?...was simply listing the games that the ps3 has...now before you go all keyboard warrior on me read previous posts more throughly.

prologue is maybe 15% of what gran turismo 5 is going to be so maybe check the actual game out first before judging.

PS3 for sure.

Can be used as a Blue Ray player (HD-DVD has been buried which is what XBOX pushed)

Never had an issue with online PS3.

If you can't find what you want online in Australia, just create a US account and log into the US servers.

Adding friends is effortless (as long as you know their sig)

Graphics are superior on PS3.

Most of the big games come out for both platforms anyway.

Another plus is that by buying a PS3, you are not adding to Microsoft's bank account... Not that Sony needs the money, but at least they put out products that work first time!

Considering you've never played GT5 (the prologue was a waste of money, don't even try to compare it) that's a pretty bold statement. Regardless, Forza 2 is still an awesome game.

If you have a great PC, that's fine, but not all of us do, and the Xbox is a very cheap alternative.

Blue ray is eh. I've never honestly noticed the difference in quality (at my mates), and besides my TV sucks so it wouldn't benefit me anyway. Playing DVDs will fry your machine 10x quicker than playing games on them too.

As for creating a US account? The whole point of wanting an Aussie game is so that you have a good connection and don't lag. I'd rather not play at all than on a US server, as it just frustrates you and handicaps you so greatly you can ever actually compete.

this is interesting, i have both and play both online.

I can never find an Australian server for COD4, maybe I have not created the right xbox live server. I have no idea how to pick country servers. I simply select find game, pick the type and it whacks me into a server.

Unlike say battlefield on PS3 where you can see all the game servers and select the ones with the lowest ping for you.

High ping sucks cos you are dead before you even see the other bloke ROFL.

I reckon the graphics are pretty similar, in fact sometimes I think the xbox is better.

I have had no problems with joining on line with PS3, i found chatting and adding friends is easy on both.

much of a muchness, but if I had to choose again, I woudl go PS3 just for the bluray but if you do not have a native fullHD tv why bother?

clearly the ps3 is the supior console, the prosessor and system its seft is built to last at least 10years. you have the option of changing the operating system and other add ons, has built in wifi, has now an 80gig HD does not run as hot, more games, more expensive lol.

yea ps3 is better.

No offense to anyone in here.

But how much do you really know about each system?

I have been a gamer for years and constantly research gaming. I generally dont buy any game that doesnt score a 9/10 or over, averaged over the industry.

Xbox 360 pros

-biggest selection of games

-biggest selection of exclusive (Microsoft only) games

-Better performing and graphical multi platform (games on both systems) games

- Superior game controller to every genre except fighting

-Best online

- Cheapest console

- Better dashboard more eastern friendly

-smaller console

Xbox 360 cons

- RROD, the old systems basically would over heat and need to be repaired/replaced. Has been a major turn off to people

- Controller D-pad is crap pand fighting games do not play as good as ps3

- Doesnt have Blu -ray IMHO HD-DVD actually looked better then blu-ray but they didnt market it well.

-pay a small fee to play online

PS3

Cons

- A few good exclusive games MGS4, Resistance fall of man 1 & 2. Kill zone 2 (it hasnt come out yet so you never know how it will turn out. But this will be a cracker)

- controller great for fighting games

- Better looking console

-free live gaming

- Blu ray DVD

Cons

- Very difficult to develop games for due to complex cell processor, results in taking longer to make games and not achieving its potential

- Platform games are almost always better on the 360

- Online community and performace no way near xbox 360

- controller is better suited to small hands and FPS are difficult to play with dual shock

- Very expensive in comparison

- Sony have less money then MS

As you can see there are alot more games on the xbox 360 that scored at least a 9 as compared to ps3.

\Now dont get me wrong i like my Ps3 and it is not a bad console. I use it for all my bu-rays/dvds and MGS4 was awesome but in reality it just isnt as good when i9t comes to games as the xbox 360 end of story.

Depends on what kinds of games you want to play, have a look at the "exclusive" games for each console then decide.

For me, so far its PS3, & its just coz I want to play Resident Evil 5.

I'm a PC geek btw, & I don't own neither system, so pretty unbiased to neither system.

RES 5 is on both systems

I'e had 2 Xbox 360's... both died due to RROD... I sold both to mates as I couldn't be bothered getting them fixed... one that was fixed got RROD a 2nd time...

I now have a PS3... much better build quality, much quieter operation

Graphics are much the same between consoles, you would have to have the same game back to back to tell the difference

However there are just more games to choose from on 360... so much so its actually frustrating me... and I loved playing Forza 2, just a great driving game

when GT5 finally comes out I might be happier... the Prologue sucks

Go the Xbox 360... absolutely, without doubt, 100%

It is much better value, the newer ones have solved the reliability (RROD) issues and most cross-platform games are proven to look and run better on it (not to mention some absolutely killer exclusives).

There are two real benefits of the PS3 that you need to weight up:

- Blu-ray

- Free online (but xbox live is far superior and so worth it!)

You have to make a choice. Do you want it as a movie player or as a games machine? If your main reason behind wanting it is to play games, then definitely get the 360.

My gamertag is MaXiMuS007GTR when you want a game!

IMHO, PS3 is more common... we've only got Wii so far not much game but we only play tennis and wife doing yoga on Wii fit... lol...

Graphic wise perhaps PS3 is better plus you can use it for bluray player too.

Rianto,

that the PS3 graphics are better is a misconception. The 360 has a more powerful GPU. Check out the Gamespot graphics comparisons.

The PS3 would have the advantage in things like physics calculations, but that has yet to be used for anything really useful (other than folding at home).

Don't even get me started on the Wii! It's continued crazy sales figures absolutely astound me. Everyone I know who has one has played it a handful of times and not touched it since. But then again, I am considered a "hardcore" gamer so it is not really aimed at people like me it seems.

    • OK, so again it has been a bit of a break but it was around researching what had been done since I didn't have access to Neil's records and not everything is obvious without pulling stuff apart. • I forgot about my shiny new plates!
    • Well, apparently they do fit, however this wont be a problem if not because the car will be stationary while i do the suspension work. I was just going to use the 16's to roll the old girl around if I needed to. I just need to get the E90 back on the road first. Yes! I'm a believer! 🙌 So, I contacted them because the site kinda sucks and I was really confused about what I'd need. They put together a package for me and because I was spraying all the seat surfaces and not doing spot fixes I decided not to send them a headrest to colour match, I just used their colour on file (and it was spot on).  I got some heavy duty cleaner, 1L of colour, a small bottle of dye hardener and a small bottle of the dye top coat. I also got a spray gun as I needed a larger nozzle than the gun I had and it was only $40 extra. From memory the total was ~$450 ish. Its not cheap but the result is awesome. They did add repair bits and pieces to the quote originally and the cost came down significantly when I said I didn't need any repair products. I did it over a weekend. The only issues I had were my own; I forgot to mix the hardener into the dye two coats but I had enough dye for 2 more coats with the hardener. I also just used up all the dye because why not and i rushed the last coat which gave me some runs. Thankfully the runs are under the headrests. The gun pattern wasn't great, very round and would have been better if it was a line. It made it a little tricky to get consistent coverage and I think having done the extra coats probably helped conceal any coverage issues. I contacted them again a few months later so I could get our X5 done (who the f**k thought white leather was a good idea for a family car?!) and they said they had some training to do in Sydney and I could get a reduced rate on the leather fix in the X5 if I let them demo their product on our car. So I agreed. When I took Bec in the E39 to pick it up, I showed them the job I'd done in my car and they were all (students included) really impressed. Note that they said the runs I created could be fixed easily at the time with a brush or an air compressor gun. So, now with the two cars done I can absolutely recommend Colourlock.  I'll take pics of both interiors and create a new thread.
    • Power is fed to the ECU when the ignition switch is switched to IGN, at terminal 58. That same wire also connects to the ECCS relay to provide both the coil power and the contact side. When the ECU sees power at 58 it switches 16 to earth, which pulls the ECCS relay on, which feeds main power into the ECU and also to a bunch of other things. None of this is directly involved in the fuel pump - it just has to happen first. The ECU will pull terminal 18 to earth when it wants the fuel pump to run. This allows the fuel pump relay to pull in, which switches power on into the rest of the fuel pump control equipment. The fuel pump control regulator is controlled from terminal 104 on the ECU and is switched high or low depending on whether the ECU thinks the pump needs to run high or low. (I don't know which way around that is, and it really doesn't matter right now). The fuel pump control reg is really just a resistor that controls how the power through the pump goes to earth. Either straight to earth, or via the resistor. This part doesn't matter much to us today. The power to the fuel pump relay comes from one of the switched wires from the IGN switch and fusebox that is not shown off to the left of this page. That power runs the fuel pump relay coil and a number of other engine peripherals. Those peripherals don't really matter. All that matters is that there should be power available at the relay when the key is in the right position. At least - I think it's switched. If it's not switched, then power will be there all the time. Either way, if you don't have power there when you need it (ie, key on) then it won't work. The input-output switching side of the relay gains its power from a line similar (but not the same as) the one that feeds the ECU. SO I presume that is switched. Again, if there is not power there when you need it, then you have to look upstream. And... the upshot of all that? There is no "ground" at the fuel pump relay. Where you say: and say that pin 1 Black/Pink is ground, that is not true. The ECU trigger is AF73, is black/pink, and is the "ground". When the ECU says it is. The Blue/White wire is the "constant" 12V to power the relay's coil. And when I say "constant", I mean it may well only be on when the key is on. As I said above. So, when the ECU says not to be running the pump (which is any time after about 3s of switching on, with no crank signal or engine speed yet), then you should see 12V at both 1 and 2. Because the 12V will be all the way up to the ECU terminal 18, waiting to be switched to ground. When the ECU switches the fuel pump on, then AF73 should go to ~0V, having been switched to ground and the voltage drop now occurring over the relay coil. 3 & 5 are easy. 5 is the other "constant" 12V, that may or may not be constant but will very much want to be there when the key is on. Same as above. 3 goes to the pump. There should never be 12V visible at 3 unless the relay is pulled in. As to where the immobiliser might have been spliced into all this.... It will either have to be on wire AF70 or AF71, whichever is most accessible near the alarm. Given that all those wires run from the engine bay fusebox or the ECU, via the driver's area to the rear of the car, it could really be either. AF70 will be the same colour from the appropriate fuse all the way to the pump. If it has been cut and is dangling, you should be able to see that  in that area somewhere. Same with AF71.   You really should be able to force the pump to run. Just jump 12V onto AF72 and it should go. That will prove that the pump itself is willing to go along with you when you sort out the upstream. You really should be able to force the fuel pump relay on. Just short AF73 to earth when the key is on. If the pump runs, then the relay is fine, and all the power up to both inputs on the relay is fine. If it doesn't run (and given that you checked the relay itself actually works) then one or both of AF70 and AF71 are not bringing power to the game.
    • @PranK can you elaborate further on the Colorlock Dye? The website has a lot of options. I'm sure you've done all the research. I have old genuine leather seats that I have bought various refurbing creams and such, but never a dye. Any info on how long it lasts? Does it wash out? Is it a hassle? What product do I actually need? Am I just buying this kit and following the steps the page advises or something else? https://www.colourlockaustralia.com.au/colourlock-leather-repair-kit-dye.html
