ive had a 3G iPhone since the day before it was released (iPhone wiki scroll to bottom of page and read Honourable Mentions LOL)

its the best phone i have used , and i have used pretty much all the recent phones as i work in a phone shop.

i recently jailbroke my iPhone as i got sick of the app's fking up and not working all the time , didnt fix the problem but now i have mms and video recorder on my iPhone.

i can also change the backgrounds/themes/sounds EVERYTHING...

if you want some pics of what can be done to the iPhone to make it better let me know

i have an iPhone, and it has not missed a beat...

like i convinced mitch to do with his.... the first thing u need to do is hack it tho... only a muppet would pay for applications, after its hacked, its a whole new toy.

you can load in new themes, put on applications that apple did not want ppl to have (like sharing the 3G connection with a laptop, and the ability to record video for instance).

everything is easy to use if u dont have fat fingers.

if u get one, first stop is whirlpool.com, you will get easy to follow instruction on how to hack (jailbreak) and heaps of awesome applications. (like stumbler plus, and spoof mac. with these and a wee bit of know how you can get into "secure" wifi networks).

i dont regret getting it at all, im with optus on the $129plan, i get 3Gig of internet, and unlimited calls n texts

i like my iphone. it's pretty average as a phone having no mms, but sms and making calls is simple enough.

The reason i love it is because i fly and sit around airports a fair bit it's great to be able to watch a movie or listen to music. Like last week i was in sydney for a day so on the plane i watched the new californication it makes the time fly (you see what i did there?) and i then get to watch shows i usually don't have time for.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have had a iPhone since september last year. I tried the HTC touch diamond running Windows Mobile. What pig it was just to navigate through the menus.

MMS? Pffft who cares when you have email. I was using MMS heavily before I got my iPhone and I don't even miss it. Huge range of free apps for it. Google maps just rocks. Trust me I just moved to melbourne and have found it invaluable when I or someone else needs directions. If you want to you can easily PWN your iPhone to customise it. I have put a couple custom ring tones on there without PWN it. I don't have the net at home, I just use my iphone for surfing the web and getting my mail and it works reliably every time.

Can't really say any more than if you want a device with Full multimedia capabillity with telephone and internet capabillities, then get one.

Yeah HTC Touch Diammond runs like a pig. Very laggy. Samsung Omnia is what I'm going to get. Touch screen, no f*cking around to get MMS and stuff (no breaking the warranty), 5pm camera and runs Windows Mobile 6.1 like a breeze.

iPhone, you can barely customize anything and is tied in with itunes and all that rubbish. 2mp camera fails. iPhone is for all the 'cool kids', Blackberry Storm and Samsung Omnia is for the real men!! Hahaha

i was in the market for a new phone about 6 months ago, just when the iphone was coming out. was thinking about it, but crappy camera with no flash, no mms, no bluetooth, and the keypad for sms is shit house. and just thought why compromise on the things i use the most.

ended up getting the lg viewty, coz it had everything i wanted. u can get basically any app on that u can on iphone, if ur code savvy u can access the system files and hack around to do other shit too (where with the iphone ur locked away from any type of customisation). saying that, the viewty is far from perfect. even being 5.0 mp, the camera is very average. the user interface is very laggy and clumsy. but txting is awesome, full lay out keypad long ways across the screen, so u can acutally type without ur finger nails like the iphone.

yeah I have been doing some research on the Omnia and it looks very good. Has a lot of good features that the Iphone doesn't.

One big issue is battery life. I use my phone a lot, and from experience people I have spoken with said you have to charge an Omnia EVERY night, where an Iphone will last for days - even with heavy usage. But then you can buy spare batteries for the Omnia and change them, whereas you can't on an Iphone.

So many things to weigh up.

I was playing with my brother-in-law's Iphone today (the guy that owns the silver Series 3 R33GTR 'VSPEC-3' that people spot down Port Adelaide direction all the time). I liked it a lot I must say and was extremely easy and fun to use. Plus he has bought games like 'Crash Kart Racing' for $7 and it runs super fast and is awesome fun.

Also my missus is looking like HAVING to get an Iphone as it is increasing ly likely that is what her work are going to set up to run on their VPN at work. SO it would be easier for me to have the same phone and accessories.

Plus one of my real desires is to be able to dock my phone and use it as my alarm clock. With an Iphone there are hundreds of devices on the market to charge and utlise it like this. They seem to be lacking for the Omnia at this stage.

yeh i got the blackberry pearl and was thinking of going the blackberry storm, but unless ur using push email there not the way too go...

now im keen on the n96. but @ $20 a month just for the fone on a $49 cap its fair hefty!

i have a iphone 3g

i imported this special vinyl to cover the phone it - you CANNOT tell it has a transparant cover on...

its scratch proof...ive got a key and scratch the F^CK out of it, and NO scratches....slid it across concrete - no scratches..

and no it doesnt stop it from smashing into pieces if i drop it... but its scratch proof - and doesnt leave finger prints...and still able to use ALL functions... - called "invisi-sheild"

got it from america...

iphones are rad, i love em imo! :P

    • Have a vb in honour of the car comming back
    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.
