As I understand it, the main reason for using a turbo timer on a turbo'd motor is to give the turbo's a little time to spool & cool down before stopping the flow of oil to them.

I personally can't see any reason for a turbo timer on a N/A, except for trying to mislead others into thinking you car is turbo'd!:P

anycar would benefit from a cooling down, but its not as needed in NA cars, i think the Apexi turbo timers (some of them) have TUrbo and NA on their packaging....Rice factor for NA cars.

Turbo cars should cool down because the turbo runs very hot, and oil is needed to extract the heat away. Leaving the car in idle allowes the oil to circulate through the turbo

if your going to put a turbo timer in a n/a , F*uck off the Apexi shit not worth the $$, go to jaycar and get 1 for $20 that u make your self that keeps you car running for 30sec after u turn it off.

personaly it's a rice factor for n/a cars.

but i would do it coz i'm rice

haha its ok guys i was never actually considering getting one, waste of money and completely unnecessary. i was just curious if there was a reason for it saying on the package "for turbo and n/a models" - like if there was any benefit in running a non turbo car for a bit after you stop. i usually run it for about 30 sec after i stop just while i grab shit off my back seat, tidy things up a bit etc

I use my turbo timer to warm up the engine, b4 driving.

Turn the engine on, set timer for 10 min, take keys out, lock doors, go back inside house, get ready to go out, eng. is nice and warm and has suffered the least stress. (most wear and stress on an eng. is caused with-in the first 10 min.) If i take longer to get ready, the eng. turns off, but will still be at full operating temp. by the time i get in the car.

PS: Don't forget to put the key into the ignition b4 putting car into gear. :D

Jimbo2000, i was pretty sure that nos as an oxidising agent, also cools the charge of air as it reacts and then combusts?? therefor the car shouldnt be any hotter? please correct me if im wrong?

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.
    • My Nismo 1.5 churps a bit on reverse turns when cold, but besides that feels like a stock diff.
