This wed is the last test day at Morgan till feb 2009.

I will heading out to test some roll center changes.

track is open 7am till 3pm.

Cost is about $50 1/2 day and about $70 for a full day.

Anyone tempted?

Are those timings and prices still correct? do they still do half and full days?

Cheers, Alex.

Your Aware this thread is almost a yr old????

Good luck in getting a hiring the track for a full day for the next 2 yrs!!!!!

Try http://www.morganparkraceway.com.au/ for Open days or for contact info.

Rhys

Yeah I am aware of it thanks mate

I see the calender, it shows maybe 60 to 70 booked days. Now, wanna tell me how many days there is in a year?

They don't hire the track every day of the week. Best way to find out what available would be to Contact the Warwick Sporting Car Club.

Not say you won't be able just remember it being pretty full.

Rhys

The website is usually the best place to start but can be unreliable at times... but only rarely.

I plan to be out this coming week with the police operation drift/track car and to do some testing on my car too before the Oakey Street Sprints next weekend and will probably be out for a play the following week as well before heading down to Oran Park for the SAU day.

To organize an SAU type day at Morgan, the best way is to contact Bill Campbell in exactly the way it says on the website. He is very particular about that. I have a friends who are friendly with Campbell's and could be a better way to approach them for a skyline only day. Could be a good opportunity to have a track school day? Just an idea.

If you can you get some frimish numbers and dates to me, I'll see what we can do.

I have just put a query in in the MP website. Might even put a EOI in a track training day up in the QLD section.

Im interested to take the 32gtr and Evo out to Morgan park.

I also have other mates in Evo's that would be interested.

let me know how you go.

Cheers

The long circuit with the planned extension should be a big improvement, less flip flop more speed. A lot of people rave about MP but bugger me you are constantly racking the steering wheel back and forwards as it is now, Lakeside is so much faster (better!), present MP is second rate by comparison.

As it is it suits old light short wheelbase cars like Escorts or modern cars with all the driver aids, particularly AWD's.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I'm not so much interested in organising an SAU day out there, most SAU Queenslanders are more interested in ice cream and wristing eachother off than motorsport.

In our little group of cars we have 9 guys who are nearly always up for it, so adding a couple of you guys into and we could make it a date I reckon >_<

Morgan Park website says;

"Track Open for Practice (Cars Only):

Wednesday 16th September

Wednesday 23rd September

Wednesday 30th September

*Please Note: All practice will be cancelled if weather is wet*

(Note: Car Race Meetings Competitor ONLY Practice Friday before an event, unless otherwise stated.)"

I'm going out this week for the morning session, which exp has shown to be the best because you can stay pretty much all day and tinker for an hour between runs. The guy who generally runs the practice days is a tip top bloke too. It might be $55 for the 1/2 day option now.

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
