air filter: performance vs. filtration

How well do some of the aftermarket panel filters remove dust particles? I live on a dirt road and am a bit hesitant about upgrading my filter but want the extra performance. Does anyone know filtration specs or have any experience? Thanks.

Not very well is the general consensus. If you want more power, greater airflow then you need to use an aftermarket filter. Trouble is, there's a trade-off: Increased airflow = poorer filtration.

find yourself a happy medium where you are satisfied with the filtration. at the end of the day you don't want to compromise the life of the turbo and a little bit of extra flow will only yield 1/2 of a kW if you are lucky

& keep well away from the green HKS filters. They only filter insects & birds:D

To be honest, I ditched my Trust Pod filter in favor of the stock box and filter. IMHO the power gains from using a pod are negligable and the risk (over the long term) of premature engine wear due to bad filtration isn't worth it in my book.

But that's just my view. Read, think and then decide for yourself which filter you wanna use...
