Not quite - area = pi*r^2, so:

3" pipe = 4,560mm2

2x2.25" = 5,130mm2

2x2.5" = 6,333mm2

5" pipe = 12,667mm2

so as you can see, 2x2.5 is definately not as much area (flow) as a 5" pipe by a long shot

What i was trying to get at is that you'd think that 2x 2.5 inch pipes would flow more then a single 3" pipe!! Probably wrong though for not the first time!

Well you were on the right track - 2x2.5"s would flow a lot more, but its a lot more surface area than a single 3" and would take more space under the car.

A fairer comparison would be Comparing similar sizes (say 2x2.125" compared to 1x3", both 4560mm2) the flow is almost the same.

Well all i know is this exhaust compared to the trust PE2 this revs up quicker and makes more boost with out changing the settings with the sacrifice of it being almost doubly as loud

but those of you that heard the 4" that i ran for a little bit it isn't quiet as loud as that

instead of having 1 large pipe to get all the flow out of ive gone for a split to keep it high off the ground whilst keeping the flow something a little different too :)

I've got a 3 1/2 inch zorst with a massive center muffler and a hi flow cat and i have no clearance trouble at all, i just took my car to a a good zorst shop and got them to cut it and push the zorst up as hight as they could get it then re-weld it, now i have no problems at all :P

    • @GTSBoy This method was able to get readings of -10 to -2, so it looks like its monitoring.  Now I need to figure out why the vacuum on the line provided isn't alternating with manifold pressure.  I went with 2 lines that an RB25 tuner recommended but I'll get a longer hose and try directly off the back of the manifold.  He may have been used to OEM intake setups while I have a DBW setup that removed the MAF and IACV.
    • I work at a car detailing and tinting shop called Quark which gets all manner of German cars in usually (mainly due to a contract with Mercedes Benz Kita Osaka, BMW Nishinomiya and others) but every once in a while something special comes in, like a fully restored 1972 HS30 Nissan Fairlady 240ZG... The shop owner had immediately started applying film to the windows as soon as it was in the shop so the interior was completely covered in towels and plastic sheets. But I could get a few photos of the engine bay which was restored like new. Such an amazing car to see in pristine condition in Japan these days.
    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
