Reliable Import Yards In Brisbane/gold Coast/sunny Coast

Recommended Posts

Morning All,

Just wondering if anyone has used AJM Imports on Compton Road before? I get a dodgy vibe from them so has anyone bought a car there? Good service? Good condition car etc?

Is there anyone else in the Brisbane/Gold Coast/Sunny Coast area that is worth going to? or is there anywhere that you wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole?

Thanks

Coxy

I think AJM is dodgey as, I went there looked at a couple of cars before I bought my 32.

When I was there I asked if I could take this car for a test drive, the guy said no, the battery is flat.. but then I said, okay can you start it up for me, and he was glad to do it so that was bullshit. The service wasnt very good, took him about 20 minutes to come outside the little office.

The place I got my 32 from is really really good. It is in Helensvale and he only imports good quality cars, like no dodgy shit and all in imaculate condition. It is on Millaroo Dr past westfield. His name is Tony and his number is 0416 226 631. Take exit 62 going south on M1 and Millaroo Dr s 2nd on the left. He fixed a few things on my car with no hesitation. paid for new coils etc.

ciao

for imports see either Mark at import auto centre for above average cars or for the best quality imports and service you cant go past motorman imports Paul's a champ.. prices might be high but you pay for what you get !.. bought 6 cars off them id go again :) ... so much so they bought my 35 in from japland i didnt even test drive it i bought it straight away ..

Got my 260RS from Mick Martin, SVI. I would deal with SVI again no question. Patience pays.

Cheers & good hunting.

GW :)

Yer the gunmetal one is real nice. Couldn't agree more about motorman. I'm always there annoying them there but he doesn't have any GTRs at the moment :O Any bad rumours about Autoshop in Moorooka? The guys there seem fairly helpful and the cars are decent.

Edit: Thanks for the tip on IAC they have 2 GTRs there :O I'll go have a look tomorrow

Go see Paul and the guys at Motormans dude great service and know what they are doing. i tried ajm before i bought mine from motormans and they dont know shit. cars are shit condition guy has not got a clue what he is talking about half the time.

I went to see the AJM cars today and they were shite condition and the guy talked some shite. Unbelievable lol. Went to see Motorman but they didnt have any 32 GTRs for sale :) IAC was an alright yard, Mark was good and new what he was talking about. Had a nice GTR there but couldn't give me a decent price for the change over. Made the last stop at Autoshop in Moorooka and the GTR they had was really nice. Going back on Monday to take it for a drive n stuff :) Thanks for all the replies really helpful :worship:

If you want a decent GTR, then import one to your specs through SVI. Mick Martin has been doing this since the beginning of Grey Imports and his business is very good.

I bought my 34 GTT from Import Auto Centre almost 2 years ago. Big thumbs up for Mark.

However, i was not impressed with the salesman i initially dealt with. He tried to tell me that this one 34 Sedan GT was turbo that they had in their yard, even though i knew it clearly wasn't. I asked him where the turbo was and he pointed to the air intake :S They did however have a GTT that had just arrived in Aust, and then he told me an unrealistic timeline for my 34 GTT to get compliance completed, as i had put the deposit on mine before it hit the sales floor. I rang Mark and spoke to him and he provided me with a loan car for the extra week that i was left waiting for my 34 and was very apologetic and helpful.

I couldn't be happier with the condition that my 34 is in...

    • Welcome to SAU, what are you looking at buying?
    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
    • I wanted to try and preserve the front bumper as long as possible, they're not cheap and are made to order in Japan. Taking inspiration from my previous K11 Micra build where I made an undertray for the Impul bumper, I did the same for this BN Sports bumper but a little slimmed down.  This time round I only made a 'skid plate' (if that's the correct wording/term) for just the bumper surface area, the Micra version covered the gap like an undertray. Starting off with a sheet of mild steel approx. 0.9mm thick 4ft x 2ft in size. I traced around the bumper, cut it out and cleaned the edges. Luckily I was able to get two halves from one piece of metal In the video I installed it as is, but I've since then I've removed it to spray and add a rubber edging trim. The rubber trim is suitable for 1-2mm and it's a really nice tight fit. The bolts had to be loosened due to the plates being too tight against the bumper, the trim wouldn't push on I used some stainless M6 flat headed bolts for a flusher finish (rather than hex heads poking down), I believe this style fastener is used for furniture too incase you struggle to source some. The corner's are a little wider, but this may be an advantage incase I get close to bumping it  The front grill got some attention, finally getting round to repairing it. Upon removal one fixing pulled itself out of the plastic frame, one side is M8 that fixes inside of the frame, where as the other side is M5. Not knowing I could get replacements, I cut down an M8 bolt, threaded it inside the frame along with a decent amount of JB Weld.  The mesh was replaced to match the bumper. One hole on the bonnet/hood had to be drilled out to 8mm to accommodate the new stud, once the glue had set it could be refitted. I think the reason the grill was double meshed was to hide the horn/bonnet latch (which makes sense) but I much prefer it matching the bumper Bumper refitted and it's looking much better IMO The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVZP35io9MA
