Yeh I know it sucks balls so im gonna apply for exemption with as many reason as possible if failed ill swap car with Parents while I save money =) or I could be a daredevil and drive it on P's but itd suck to get caught

erm insurance? not sure they would be happy to cover a driver who is not legally to drive the vehicle.

all i can say is if you ever ran into me i would sue your ass into the ground to get as much money as possible, accidents dont just happen from been stupid, it can happen to any1, maybe you are driving normally and you just arnt concerntrating enough because of been tired or what not, shit happens, and when it does it will cost you big time,

my car has cost me a shitload of money, i hate how they put on my pay slip earnings to date,

plus if you get a daily, say spend 1-2g on a daily, save while your on your p's, then by time you can drive a skyline, say you have 40g saved up, you buy the car for 12g, then insurance will be another 2g, drive the car how it is (mostly stock) and then as you drive it more you can figure out which way you want to go with modifing it, lots of people go different ways, so best to decide from driving the car not just reading stuff all day long, then when you go to work on your car you have a get around car,

Lol , youve all destroyed my hopes (nah jokes) , I didnt explain the process of the car very well but I have another idea. The Non Turbo GTS is P-Plate legal and ive actually been thinking about buying one of those instead as I have heard they arnt too fast. Ide just have a Stock One, with a 5 stud conversion and a quiet exhaust and in the mean time save up for an RB25/30DET Hybrid which will be built as a seperate engine and will go in when I have my full licence. Ide drive the car through conservative power stages like havign the boost low and gradually upping it so I get used to the power. I think thats a better Idea cuz the car will be legal on P's and I will save alot more money. If you guys hadn't of flamed me I probly would lost alot of money doing it in my 'stages'. Thx to all cuz uve made me realise ill save money doing it way later down the track.

dont bother with a 5 stud conversion.... get some koya drifteks, they are drilled for 4 and 5 stud 114.3 ad when you build your 2530 you can use them as throw around rims if you decide you want to upgrade

Yeh I would have to eventually upgrade brakes and a 5stud conversion would minimise stress. I plan on Volk GT-C, Speedy Cheetahs or Starcorp Racing Fusions (19") with factory Type M bodykit and clear indicators. I dont really like ricer bodykits.

good choice! , now you can start with suspension/lsd/brakes/strip stuff outta the car to make it lighter

driver training will fix it

do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

+1

    • I don't know, I've never done it that way, but 1. While it is an interference engine, there is still clearance between the valves and the piston at all points in the regular timing cycle 2. There is not a lot of distance before you can't catch the top of the valve stem any more I don't know if 2 is greater or less than 1. But 3. If it doesn't work out you are f**ked, engine is coming out to disassemble so it is a big bet.
    • Semi slicks are horrible for road use, just use a high performance road tyre unless you really need the maximum grip. Noisy, unpredictable (amazing, until they are not), expensive due to very high wear and not good in cold and particular wet. And yes, it is a thing to store cars on stands instead of tyres if you know they are going to be parked up long term.....but who ever realises that a short park is going to stretch into years before it is out again!
    • I know in Australia you'll definitely get above 30c. Parked in the shade in Summer you'll be above that. 😛 But in cooler climates, you might get that warm driving on the highway for a bit, but you'd never get to full heat temp. I'll try and find some of my historical tyre temps between Aus summer and winter (be aware immin the warmer area of Aus too.)
    • I get that taking off the head is best but that's a bit much for "just" valve seals. I was just under the impression that one would be able to rotate to TDC and be able to temporarily drop the valve without losing it and effectively having to remove the head to then recover it. I never knew people actually pushed rope into the cylinder to do valve seals hahaha So just to confirm, just going to TDC will not work? In that case I know when I do valve seals I'll maybe just remove the head and do some other things while I'm there, or just wait until I do an engine build.
