Hi

Well I have come back with my tail between my legs and I am sorry but I gave it my best shot. He had me off the line every time and no matter what I did I could not catch him up again. From the 60ft through to the finish line we were very even. It just goes to show that power to weight plays a big part in it all

post-25786-1231585295_thumb.jpg.post-25786-1231586850_thumb.jpg

My best time was 15.456 @ 125.64 KPH reaction 1.026 60ft 10.203

His best time was 14.854 @ 124.31 KPH reaction 0.885 60ft 9.817

Now I know the photo is not grate but should I be worried about the amount of smoke coming from the exhaust. This was the last run for the night.

Hi

I knew it would be close but I didn't think he would actually beat me. When he does get it on the dino we can actually compeer the power to weight off both cars.

As far as the smoke goes it is still there but only when you give it a boot full. From inside the car it appears to be grayish black (An over rich mixture at high rpm) but on the video it appears to be a bluish color

I have taken the plugs out and replaced them even though the old ones seem to be in good condition

I also did a compretion test while the plugs were out (wet & dry test and they are all within 20lb from the worst 140lb to the best 160lb).

I will keep an eye on oil and fuel consumption over the next few weeks.

"My best time was 15.456 @ 125.64 KPH reaction 1.026 60ft 10.203"

i will use your time as a benchmark STAGE1 as i will be taking my S2 RS4-S to willowbank either 22nd or 24th Jan to see what it runs.

my mods are only 3" catback, pod filter, 10psi.

Also just noticed you run the enkei rims. i have the exact same set from my MZ20 soarer (selling if someone wants it 3k) which are 17x8 and 17x9. I am obviously too lazy here, do you know if the stud pattern is the same ?

Cheers

What launch technique did you use? Did you hold your left foot on the brake, accelerate a bit to build boost, then let the brake go and nail the accelerator as the light went green?

yeah what he ^ said. :(

try snow mode, torque split button, manual shifting?

so wish SA had a strip. this sux that we've got shit all.

so just a cat back and max boost (as mine came when I got her from qld almost 4yrs ago) gets 15.4

Im pretty sure thats the same time CoolPC did.... http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ni...50#entry4366250

Im sure mine would do low 13 now (duno?) but just wont know until there's a track here in adelaide.

Q. Did you have any victims?

A. Sorry but I did not have any wins we only managed 3runs for the day. Race 1&3 the 200sx beat me if only by a smidgen and race 2 I was beaten by a woman in a skyline who I found out later had a rebuilt RB26 with a big single turbo. She ran a 12.3

Q. What launch technique did you use?

A. race 1 was right foot on the brake in drive then slips it across to the go pedal when the light turned green

Race 2 was left foot brake in drive revs up to 1,800 then it was off with left foot and down with the right

Race 3 was left foot brake in first power button on revs up to 2,000 then it was off with left foot and down with the right

Hit the rev limiter in 2nd this cost me a 10th

Note- we never got into top gear and the car seamed to do better if it was left in drive something I have noticed even on the circuit

I went out expecting to do around 15.2 or at best a high 14 so I was pretty happy with my effort

Jez

let us know what day you are going out and I will come and watch

    • Selling my TE37SLs since I've switched to smaller wheels.  They're for sale in Japan but it's pretty simple to send them overseas; USA excluded, since JPPost isn't sending there at the moment. They're currently listed on yahoo auction and will be shipped in Japan with the tires if they sell here. • The alloy coolant reservoir has a sight glass, so as long as I can see coolant in the sight glass it's GTG, as for PS, it isn't anything catastrophic if it gets low, and as it hasn't lost a drop since I have owned the car I cannot see it being an issue, even after putting the "big block" 2.5 in....LOL The only time it gets slightly messy is at oil changes, as the oil filter sits above the frame, and I need to use a plastic bottle with its bottom cut off to catch the flow when loosening the filter
    • Good on you for taking on the job, but it is a big one. Even if you have bolt on manifold and turbo, you will need: Post throttle pressure source to boost controller to wastegate (and FPR, and ECU/MAP sensor) Pre throttle pressure source to top of BOV(s) Oil feed - you can take that from the standard port in the middle of the block Oil return to block under the turbo - this is much trickier than it seems to route a decent/wide pipe past the manifold. You really can't use rubber hose because it is way too hot there, and also the oil out of the turbo core is a bit frothy so it needs to have a decent diameter Water feed - you can take that from the standard port in the rear of the block. Water return - mine runs to a T into the heater box return, just make sure you don't create a high point making bleeding hard. All of those lines should use 200 series style teflon braided hose with heat shielding because everything needs to be routed past the manifold. Also a turbo beanie is a really good idea to minimise the chance of the car catching fire (under bonnet lining in particular) You also need to decide a cam cover breathing solution as well, will you vent externally via a catch can (probably illegal) or return to the intake (plumbing required and can oil up everything over time) Keep in mind the intake and exhaust piping in the engine bay will be custom so you either need to be able to fab ally and steel or have someone you can get a car that isn't running to. Get the wideband fitting welded into the dump pipe at the same time. Also, just my opinion, a screamer pipe attracts attention and doesn't add power, I'd plumb it back if you want to be allowed to keep the car on the road. BTW do you know anything about how healthy the motor is, and what power you are targeting? Doubling or tripling the factory power on an unknown motor is a little risky. Also fuel system will need some attention (pumps, high current hanger, direct power and earth feed, injectors etc)
