thanks for the clarification man.......soooooo how hard is it to believe that the new gtr with more power and better chassi could take 30seconds off the record.

My god porsche is really pushing the bitching rights!!! they have nothing to prove, they make a great car

Thats something strange that the r32 was slower than the 33........ummmm my though would be that the lighter 32 would post a faster time; just shows what some better technology can do huh!

there was an article in zoom when the r34 gtr was released with all 3 gtr's... you can see side by side how much more stable the r33 is over the r32 around a witches hat.. and the r34 is better again..

and also, although the 33 gtr is heavier... the tyres are wider and have less profile.. the lighter r32 on its skinnier 16" tyres would be a bit more skittery around the corners where the r33 would have stuck a bit more.. aswell as the 33 being wider and having more wheel track and a better roll centre

also the r33 rb26 and attessa had improvements over the r32 even though power limits were both claimed at 206kw, but the 33 had a smoother torque curve and just enough to make for the extra weight.

anyways... back to the topic.. the r35 like all gtr's will be a modifiers car... the porsche will remain to be driven by company ceo's who just want to drive around.. how much more can you seriously do to a 911 turbo?? especially after forking out serious dosh to get one in the first place?? what would happen if you spent that on the r35??

cheers

There are plenty of 996 turbos with 650-700bhp with just bolt-ons and a good tune on stock internals. These kits go for 15-20k USD. The porsche modding scene has come alive in recent years not limited to Ruf/Gembala. It's just non-existant in Australia.

If the prices of exotics in Australia weren't so retarded I'm sure there would be a lot more modded porsches running around. And no, they're definitely more than cars "driven by company ceo's who just want to drive around."

I'm sure there are other cars that can be built a lot faster than the r35 for how much it costs too, so that point is not really valid. They are not the same car.

Another non-nissan drive that laps 7:50+. Far from the 7:29 on so called "stock" car?

It's great that Nissan's pushing the boundaries, but false claims doesn't help anyone.

dude.........

before you start calling "false claims"

here is the VIDEO of the 7:29sec

I know that run happened. They claimed it was a stock production car. Did you even read the article that was refered to?

well i dont understand you

if you dont like nissans nor GTR...then why are you here?....5 posts and putting down skylines and sucking up to porsche?

maybe a porsche forum would suit you more?

or perhaps suit that homosexual guy in the picture more?.....lol

:)

anyways.....

so what if it is existent, non-existent or extinct. dont you get it?....the GT-R shocked the world and the performance of the car has taken the world by storm dude...

it revoloutionalised the motor industry by what it is to how it performs...regardless if u think its shit or not.

I'm sure there are other cars that can be built a lot faster than the r35 for how much it costs too, so that point is not really valid. They are not the same car.

thats where your WRONG dude.....there currently isnt anything thats cheaper that performs BETTER than this car.

so far there are production cars...(some arent...like the ultima GT-R, Caparo T1 & saleen S7 TT for e.g)

there are 17 cars that are faster than the GTR by Acceleration........

Bugatti Veyron, Caparo T1, Ultima GT-R, SSC Ultima AERO TT, Saleen S7 TT, Ascari A10, Ariel Atom, Caterham R500, Gumpert Apollo, Ford RS200, Caterham CSR 260, Ferrari 430 Scuderia, Chev Corvette C6 ZR1, Mosler MT900 Photon, Ferrari ENZO, Mclaren F1, Koenigsegg CCX....then Nissan R35 GTR

dude........

For f^%#$ sake.......cant u see the Nissan is just a touch behind Ferrari ENZO?!... Koenigsegg CCX does 3.2sec = 0 - 100km/h, the Mclaren F1 & the GTR does 3.2sec ALSO!!!!

however those 3 cars tie in....but the ENZo does it in 3.14sec..............what more can you expect from the NISSAN?!

seriously dude.......its a bloody NISSAN................. it f%$# so many super cars on the list....

and since you realise the ZR1 is in there......but in US....the ZR1 is actually 80,000$ more than the GT-R

...fanboy talk...

Calm down, nowhere did I mention the GTR is shit. It's just Nissan claimed they did the 7:29 on a stock car, which no other driver has ever gotten close to by a good 20-25 seconds in their stock GTRs. Which is what is refuted by porsche (AKA the topic of this thread).

Nowhere have I put down Nissan. Only questioning the validity of their "record."

The poster I was quoting said that for what you have to pay for a porsche, you could modify a GTR to be a lot faster. And I said you could modify other cars that are cheaper (older gtrs etc) to be faster with what you pay for the R35, so that point is moot.

Put your stiffy back in your pants and actually read people's reply before you dribble all over the thread.

lets put it this way.

whether it really is 7:29sec or not. i give it much credit and respect.....

as i told you before, those cars stated that are the 17 quicker cars.... NONE are japanese...NONE are under 200,000$

you know... nissan being the only car in the jap car market that has stepped up and tackled the big guns in motor industry. of course those manufactures are upset & would cause a conspiracy!

put it this way....if i was porsche.....i would too...

anyhow.....the best thing for us now......is wait till the new one comes out....

supposedly a V-spec Model or possibly named SPEC-V this time.

its supposedly 100kg lighter with more power.

lets see the times on that

and hopefully the same guy drives it.........

as i said, the engineers at nissan said this car would definately be more swifter at the old NUR...

then........that would put things into perspective. and if it is faster......porsche can go f**k THEMSELVES........

yeah but thats not yet official yet....

the car hasnt been released yet.

hopefully soon they will get the figures straight

on the same link.....gee the Lexus LFA looks pretty good, with serious times as well.

i don't think independent tests mean much, i mean no one could drive the gt-r like the people who built it and was with it through development.

Nissan are claiming the tests were done on the dunlop tyres not the better brigstones and have stated the have the tyres that were used are sitting there at Sumitomo.

Why not believe them??? its a big auto company they would have logs and data to match their claim.

People and press saw the 7.29 run and there's a video, surely someone independent or outside can confirm what tyres were used.

I solidly doubt that there's a conspiracy here, porsche can stfu

Look all in all.. I see it plain and simple .. Japs can drive, Euros cant! Pretty simple im sure the Porkas will be gettin a jap to drive the next models :(

there's no Japanese world champion drivers, but. :P

are you sure i'm sure it's the other way round? they used the bridgestones not the dunlops?

its simple. The Stig drove the GTR to Nurburgring victory, so all the James Packer CEO type Porsche loving fanboy's can go cry wolf in the Porsche thread. this is sau, your preaching to the converted.

while thats true... its the same with supras and lots of gtr's in japan, add one t88 and tuning and the same figures will result.. im not saying porsche are bad, or slow, and the same with the gtr, im not saying its the be all and end all... but.. imagine ive got $200000 to spend... and want a brand new car...

i havent got enough for a gt2... which only just beat the gtr.. but i do have enough for an r35.. with all the trimmings.. that narrowly got beaten by the gt2 (at this time no proper tests have been done, thats just going on rumours) and i have a spare $40000 to spend on upgrades... sooo the question at hand is... is the porsche that much better than the gtr that its worth the extra coin?? that is the point i was trying make

my other point about company ceo's comes from the fact that you'd have to be one to own a brand new gt2 or 911 turbo.. and it seems to be the choice for day to day driving to work.. that or a mercedes. it goes with the ratbag 20 something year olds that drive hotted up skylines... just a common occurence.

lets keep this thread informative and polite... or it'll get shut. everyones entitled to their opinion and it is an internet forum after all.

cheers

+1 :)

And look where the GTR came on the top gear table. Speaks for itself!!

yeap i agree with what most people think here......"PORSCHE CAN SHUT THE F@#$ uP!"

such cry babies.....no other manufacture .ie Audi, Lamborghini, Ferrari windged but silly old Porsche.

cry us a river porsche.............

I think people are forgetting the most important part of Nissan's 7:29, the driver! Cars don't drive themselves yet or though maybe the R40 GTR in the future might!

How many people are ex- F1 drivers?

7:29 is not an everyday GTR time, it was done by an ex-F1 driver who had put in a massive number of laps around the ring. Most people even if they did the same number of testing laps would not come close to that time, Nissan's driver showed what the car is capable of, if someone knows the car well and has the SKILLS.

Porsche can't say the car isn't capable of that because their test engineer can't do it! Porsche either needs to get a better car or a better driver!

well im not certain about that.

i think your wrong

Prince released the "Skyline" but never released the "GT-R" until it got sold out to Datsun.

here is what is said,

i don’t recall them beating Porsches..

it did, didn’t get a gtr badge until 69 when Nissan took over prince.

but it did beat Porsche’s when it was the prince 67' gtb 125ps triple webber lsd 15sec quarters(does seem pretty slow compared to today’s but enough to smoke the german mobile)

and the 69' the now nissan kpg 'gtr' really kicked some ass against porches (dosnt say what models but i hear they were like 2 years old) in Japan. there’s a reason why the kpg is 1 of the most expensive Japanese cars you can buy. before these 2 jap cars came out japan was getting thrashed at their own curcuits by alpha and porches on a regular basis. So they sucked it up and made a faster car, much cooler than changing rules like a certain local manufacturer.

ive got the import mag talking about it if you want to see a scan. ive also heard it from other places if your concerned thats a 1sided story :3some:

back to today's :3some: porches just whining, bit sad i think since every test shows the gtr even or better than em. had someone actually say at work they cheated to me, i just laughed said watch the vid.

thats what i said didnt i?

the First Skyline was released by PRINCE in 1957

but yeah Datsun took over and bought out the GTR in 1969

i already knew that dude

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
