Hi Guys,

I have a Mongoose m80G in my r33 and randomly the car wont acknowledge the remote. The remote works, the light flashes, but the car doest arm or disarm which is abviously a real bloody dilema! Doesnt matter whether im point blank right next to or infront of the car it can take 10mins before it wants to work.

95% of the time it works, but this 5% is incredibly annoying!

If the battery were on its way out, then why does the light still illuminate? And why does it work from 20 meters away at other times? Battery as the answer doesnt make sense in this scenario.

Well it does make sense because it requires significantly less power to turn on the tiny LED on the remote than it does to send a signal to the receiver in the car to disarm the alarm.

As Chris said, do you have the other remote? Does it do the same thing?

Exactly, not mention batteries are fickle creatures at the best of times. They're not some energy bucket that drains with perfect voltage from top to bottom, but a chemical reaction that gets more and more sporadic the lower in charge (less chemicals to react) they go. Not to mention the effect of heat and other things.

The effect of heat.... hmm interesting! Might be something there...

Reason why batteries doesnt sound right to me, and im not arguing ill get them replaced to be safe, is i can stand 20m away and arm then disarm over and over and over to my hearts content 95% of the time. Anyway, replace batteries and see how she goes!!

*Shrugs* heat isn't that big a deal though.

It's possible it's a problem contact on the switch of the remote. But, given what you've described, it's far more likely to just be the battery. If the LED is lighting up, and nothing is happening, then the switch contacts aren't the issue and you can put pretty good money on it being the battery.

I have same problem..... from what ive figured out and have heard is that something causes interference with the remote signal to your alarm....

have you noticed that it always happens in the same spots??

With me it never works in the same spot/section of the coles car park i go to LoL!!

i doubt its the battery but then again could be weak signal due to battery running out

but i tried changing battery once and went to the dreaded part of the car part and yet again no worky!! ;)

  • 2 weeks later...

Hmm check the antenna be sure its connected to the wire properly on the brain if its mounted on the floor your range is smaller than if its mounted on the dash (Dont tell us where it is), Try the second remote if you still have one.

hey yeah it could just be this. With my mums old car(96' Ford Tauras) it would'nt work In front of a shop which had a big powerbox thing on a pole out front but it worked everywhere else.

Hi mate,

Its true it could be the remote battery but just try the other spare remote, if this doesnt work as well chances are its more a problem with the system then the remotes, as chance of both remotes not work as same time because of the battery is slim.

I am more inclined to think that its more to do with the system earth. If after driving and hitting bumps etc the earth may move depending on where is was mount, causing the system not to respond. If this is the case though the LED on the dash would not be flashing.

If the dash LED is still flashing and your remotes work fine ie their lights come on when pushed, chances are its some sort of interferance or it may be that the units antenna is not working consistantly. If this is so, then yes it maybe effect by the heat in the car.

If you keep having problems give me a call I own Platinum Car Security, I can have a look at it for you if your in the Sydney area. Otherwise may be able to advise you over the phone

Kind Regards,

Daniel Gardener

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
