Isn't it amazing you think that a compliance plate actually ment something but obviously the headlights weren't part of that, I wonder what else missed out.?

Note that my (HID) headlights we're converted to "Crappy " halogen to meet ADR compliance. That lasted about 10 mins when I got the car, The (HID) headlights come with the the car and nearly every euro car has them DUH. Well !! I do too now

:-)

Cheers MUZ

PS , My father has a 34 as well what fun we have. NIZR34GTT

Hi Shy33,

I am not quite sure who did the actual work but I got excellent service at BatteryPro (over near the Cemetary). The owner has a Z32 TT and they were certainly great people to deal with.

CYA34,

Does your old man have a red one? I think he and I have touched base a couple of times. Two R34's in one family, how utterly greedy is that? Good luck to both of you. Tell me more about the HID lights as I noticed the sparky only inserted a halogen bulb.

Cheers

Muz

NizR34GTT,

Yes I did. Is there something I should know? Being a little ole country boy we're pretty trusting up this way. I think I got a good deal minus the few little things already mentioned. Silver Snails huh! I've had my share of red cars. Something about them, at least the ones I owned. People just kept running into them. At least with black, they can now actually claim not to have seen me.

Does your R34 suffer from this stalling problem? If so what mods do you have as I'm looking for a commonality with mods to point in the direction of a solution.

Cheers

Muz

Hi Muz no problems with Advance Autos I got mine of them about 12 months ago absolutely over ther moon with it .They were very good to deal with and honest so what more can we ask for.

I don't have any stalling problems with mine.

I have a blitz cooler ,turbo smart boost cotroler,3" stainless system few other small bits and pieces.

Have you got a blow off valve ?sometimes if they are not adjusted correctly you can suffer idling problems.

My personal mechanic (SON) put a new set of iridium plugs in it the other day so might pay you to look at them to.

Probably better speaking to CYA34 he nows them inside out so he might be able to help you.

Ray tol;d me from Advance yours had a lot of nice goodies on it,it was still in the showroom covered up when I went over to see him the other day.

Give cya a PM and see if he can give you some clues.

Regards Rod

Thanks for the heads up on the stall problem. Yes I dealt with Barry and Colleen and they were absolutely great. Not often you can say that about car sales people but it's true. Did all my deal by email except for a very quick test drive between flights. If I can just cure this stalling problem then I will be totally content. I'll PM CYA34.

Stay in touch.

Cheers

Hi Muz. If you have an externally venting Blow Off Valve, you can most certainly blame that on your stalling problem. A lot of people opt for changing over to a nice loud BOV and find that the car begins to run rich and stall frequently. They then end up putting the factory BOV back on.

To solve the problem you can purchase idle stabilisers and the like, but if I were you I'd purchase an internally venting BOV like the factory or swapping someone with a factory one.

G'day NIZR34GTT,

The BOV is a Turbosmart Plumb Back arrangement.

Being a newbie to the Skyline scene (Truly Great Cars) and a first timer on turbo cars, this is all a very new experience for me. I'm loving it so far. I have always been a car nut and this car has really suprised me. My wife has a BA Falcon (a nice Aussie car) but it's not a patch on a chassis that is 4-5 years older. Just shows how far behind we really are in terms of vehicle dynamics.

I'm starting to have a bit of a play around to see what makes it purr. Took the plastic cover off the engine today after work and found a small black hose not connected to where it should be. Reconnected that but doesn't seem to have made any difference. Like I said in an earlier post, these imported pre-owned cars are like opening boxes of presents ....... full of great suprises.

I have a few small issues that I'm thinking about going back to Advance about but they really are only small issues so will give it some thought. Other than no headlights on one side, the two trip meters don't appear to function. This car has a full set of Nismo gauges (absolutely brilliant at night) so I'm wondering when the instruments were changed whether they were not connected properly or something.

The stalling issue is the biggest worry as it has the potential to be something that could very well cause an accident. If your son can give any guidance on that, I would be extremely appreciative. I'm considering swapping out the Microtech computer and fitting an Apexi Power FC but will wait and see if I acn get this stalling problem fixed first before I start down the "throw buckets of money at it" path.

Cheers for now

Muz

    • The issue now is the 'fuel cut' while driving, and when it happend, it does not stall. This, I did not test the fuel pressure while driving as I cannot with a fuel pressure gauge. I do have Nistune logs, yes. I have also replaced the MAF Sensor.   Also related to the FPG Fuel Hanger – I just realized that I need a Deutsch Crimp Tool to crimp some cables for the FPG Fuel Hanger. Need to purchase additional cables as the kit only included 2, which are for the float. FPG has not responded to my emails so far since purchasing. I thought about taking it to someone and having it done professionally, but I am reluctant since everyone I took it to messed up in some way.
    • There's a good German place in Brisbane if youre up for the drive 😛
    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
    • I would say no, why, because my daughter, who also lives in Goulburn, hasn't recommended us going there Pity, as we miss all the German joints around in Sydney, actually, the restaurants are the only thing I really miss about Sydney, and a special mention to Ishibanboshi at Bondi Junction, their Kara-age Don is heart cloggingly deliciousness (always added a special boiled egg...or 2) 😋
