Hey guys

Recently I developed a website for people around Australia to advertise their cars or items online for free.

The site is only a couple of weeks old but it has had a pretty good start and some great comments.

So if you are looking to get a little more exposure and for free, then check out www.its4sale.com.au

Every post gets 5 pictures and all the rest of the shinies and danglies.

Any comments/suggestions for the future, send me a pm... Often people request: homes for sale.. Wont be doing that for some time yet

hey mate, great website by the looks of things:) once i take some pics I will put my VK commy up for sale through your website.

cheers for the info

Thanks for the comments guys.

About 90% of people that visit the website go straight to the car search / car ads. But there isn't many cars yet! Need more cars to satisfy the viewers.

On the right of the website, I am allowing an advertisment. If there is a business (or SAU) out there that wants some extra advertising I'll put it on there for free until someone really does want to put a paid flash advert up (Hopefully this will help cover the costs of the site being free).

Thanks very much for its4sale mode of selling. I intend to put my wife's BMW on your site within 2 weeks.

I hope all goes well for you too - every success.

What makes this mode of selling different from any other - just off the cuff?

Tez

Thanks guys.

The site should remain free for... no idea haha. Until I need to upgrade to a dedicated server which will be at least 100+ a month. Then I will need to find some sort of income via its4sale - Hopefully the paid ads will conver that and there will be no need to charge users like you and me :(

Advertisement - Thats the hard part. We have flyers business card size. I have given hundreds to friends and family to put on cars for sale they see and notice boards etc... But again, I can only rely on my self haha.

Terry: I just activated your account for you :) Saw you was "not activated" so fixed you up myself. When you advertise your wife's BWM, I might not have the model... Let me know and I'll add it straight away. There was millions of BWM models haha and only added the ones I was familar with

The difference? Is that it is free lol.

Originally I decided to do this becuase ALOT of my friends told me they were getting sick of the increasing costs of ebay, carsales, trading post etc... So off I went and spent over 150 hours doing this for everyone!!!

Thanks for good service Richie. I was going to 'activate' when I got home from wk. Ta.

The BMW will be a E39 523i Model going for $14,900. I'll be in touch with pics and wording of the Advert.

Cheers, Terry

Haha thanks mate.

The cars are increasing now... but still need plenty more to keep everyone happy!

There are some nice imports on there now as well that look just - awsome.

Any comments/suggestions shoot here or PM. Everyday I spend about 1-2 hours on it creating new functionality etc...

Once again, thanks for all the comments.

Have a Import Car yard on there now. Dom - He has alot of nice imports for sale on the site.

Going to add some features on there soon such as: other cars or items by this user and will do a 'people currently browsing' feature down the track.

Looking for more ideas within grasp. Not to complex for now (Dont have the funds to spend to much time on it).

Nice work mate.

Userfriendly and intuitive.

Have just popped a few items up there, and might pop one of my cars up there.

One suggestion I'd like to make is to be able to browse via category, rather than having to go down the sub-category level.

Hey Richie, thanks for the PM letting me know about your site. I have uploaded 2 cars on there to help you out.

A couple of things I noticed when I was putting up the adds are this:

1000 characters to give a description on the car didn't seem enough. I could have used double that and still fallen short. For people with heavily modified cars they are going to find it difficult to list all their modifications in the space they have. I also don't understand the tokens? Is this just to get people to think twice before selling to stop impulse selling? Maybe people could earn tokens by telling a friend about your site. 10 tokens for each email address?! And I agree with the search options. When I click on Automotive I expect to find cars and I find stereo gear, which is a bit confusing, and when I search for cars and I want to search for NISSAN can you get "ALL MODELS" to be the next option? Just to make it easier for all us lazy people? :)

Otherwise I find the site really user friendly and I think it's going to be a great hit. I was very impressed when I first had a look at it last night. Best of luck with it and I'll keep my ear to the ground about advertisments for you.

Cheers for the Feedback

Haha, you lazy people! I'll put the "All Models" at the top rather than at the bottom.

With the Automotive thing, I'll add a subcategory in the BUY page that says "new and used cars".

The ITEMS database is completely different from the CAR database so that makes it hard. I couldn't use the same database as I wanted cars to have ALOT more options/fields.

The Tokens? They are there incase I need to impliment something urgently. It's basically a safety feature to instantly stop postings if I have to. The max anyone can have at any 1 time is 30. Of course I can add/remove them from my admin back-end though.

Firstly - It gets people to notice how much they are posting.

Second - If I have to upgrade the hosting accounts (Next step is about 250$+ a month) then I will have to charge 50c for each token or something like that. That won't be happening as I have about 90gigs left - So about another 50,000 ads and 10,000 members or similar haha.

The plan is to always keep the selling free so I will have to have income via that website another way (Flash adverts etc...).

    • I got back to Japan in January and was keen to get back on track as quickly as possible. Europe is god-awful for track accessibility (by comparison), so I picked up a first-gen GT86 in December just to have something I could jump into right away. The Skyline came over in a container this time and landed in early January. It was a bit battered after Europe, though—I refused to do anything beyond essential upkeep while it was over there. The clutch master cylinder gave out, and so did the power steering. I didn’t even bother changing the oil; it was the same stuff that went in just before I left Japan the first time. Naughty. Power steering parts would’ve cost double with shipping and taxes, so knowing I’d be heading back to Japan, I just postponed it and powered through the arm workout. It took a solid three months to get the car back on the road. Registration was a nightmare this time around. There were a bunch of BS fees to navigate, and sourcing parts was a headache. I needed stock seats for shaken, mistakenly blew 34k JPY on some ENR34 seats—which, of course, didn’t fit—then ended up having the car’s technical sheet amended to register it as a two-seater with the Brides. Then there’s the GT86. Amazing car. Does everything I want it to do. Parts are cheap, easy to find, and I don’t care what anyone says—it’s super rewarding to drive. I’ve done a few basic mods: diff ratio, coilovers, discs, pads, seat, etc. It already had a new exhaust manifold and the 180kph limiter removed, so I assume it’s running some kind of map. I’ve just been thrashing it at the track non-stop—mostly Fuji Speedway now, since I need something with higher speed after all that autobahn time. The wheels on the R34 always pissed me off—too big, and it was a nightmare getting tires to fit properly under the arches. So I threw in the towel and bought something that fits better. Looks way cleaner too (at least to me)—less hotboy, less attention-seeking. Still an R34, though. Now for future plans. There are a few things still outstanding with the car. First up, the rear subframe needs an overhaul—that’s priority one. Next, I need to figure out an engine rebuild plan. No timeline yet, but I want to keep it economical—not cutting corners, just not throwing tens of thousands at a mechanic I can barely communicate with. And finally, paint. Plus a bit of tidying up here and there.
    • Nope, needed to clearance under the bar a little with a heat gun, a 1/2" extension as the "clearancer", and big hammer, I was aware of this from the onset, they fit a 2.0 with this intake no problems, but, the 2.5 is around 15mm taller than a 2.0, so "clearancing" was required  It "just" touched when test fitting, now, I have about 10mm of clearance  You cannot see where it was done, and so far, there's no contact when giving it the beans Happy days
    • It's been a while since I've updated this thread. The last year (and some) has been very hectic. In the second-half of 2024 I took the R34 on a trip through Germany, Italy, France and Switzerland - it was f*cking great. I got a little annoyed with the attention the car was getting around Europe and really didn't drive it that much. I could barely work on the car since I was living in an inner-city apartment (with underground parking). During the trip, the car lost power steering in France - split hose - and I ended up driving around 4,000kms with no power steering.  There were a few Nurburgring trips here and there, but in total the R34 amassed just shy of 7,000kms on European roads. Long story short, I broke up with the reason I was transferred to Europe for and requested to be moved back to Japan. The E90, loved it. It was a sunk cost of around EUR 10,000 and I sold it to a friend for EUR 1,500 just to get rid of it quickly. Trust me, moving countries f*cking sucks and I could not be bothered to be as methodical as I was the first time around.
    • I assume clearances were all a-okay?
    • Shock tower brace is in +5Kw....LOL
