$300 on a Toll truck :D

Unless you think driving a car from Sydney to Adelaide is fun :(

Hey, are you selling R34 gear on Ebay by any chance? I bought an R34 engine cover off a 'Rocco' - am wondering if it is u.

why, hasn't it arrived Andrew :(

yep i got a Silvia from Melb to Adelaide for about $360 about 2 years ago, that included picking up the car from the guys house, and delivering it to the depot in Adelaide. That included insurance as well.

^^ nah I have been super busy and haven't managed to contact him to pick it up yet. Have left a message on his mobile, but he hasn't called me back yet. No problem, just seems likely he is the same guy.

I picked up my Stagea from Sydney importers and drove it back. Also done the trip again, and thrown in a drive to Canberra and Melbourne too

Drive from Sydney thru Wagga (stay the night if you have to), drive to Mildura (stay the night if you have to), and then down to Adelaide. Will take about 18 hours, so break it up and stay the night in either Wagga or Mildura. Overnight stay is cheap ... dozing off and crashing isn't.

:(

Can we stay on topic please Andrew :P This isn't wasteland you know! :D

The price has effectively doubled for transport in the last year or so. For enclosed transport through TNT (my only option, because of the low ride height), my N1 cost over a grand from Brisbane, and that was to the depot, not to my house...

Drive your bloody cars guys, thats what there for, fuel shouldnt be a issue as it is cheap, i am amased at the amount of cars that get trailered, most for no reason.

Take your time and hit the back roads and you may even have some fun if your not carefull.

Unless of course its a race car or youve built a trailer queen show car, or your idea of a long drive is to do blockies at the mall.

Drive your cars

When I bought my car in Sydney, I considered getting it shipped back but I eventually drove it back from Sydney through Melbourne - I really enjoyed every minute of it (even with the factory nissan stereo with FM converter and only a tape player ...)

I also found it a really good opportunity to get familiar with the car and how it drove :P

^^^

only a tosser would say that, just enjoy life. make a trip of it with someone special.

Nothing like a road trip with some mates or a chick just listening to music, and singing and taking photo's whenever you see something interesting.

I think one of 18 ever built and no airconditioning was a good enough excuse to get it transported rather than drive it from Brisbane :(

Yeah cos you wouldn't want to enjoy it.

Were you one of those kids that kept all his action figures in the boxes and never had any fun with them.

 I never was. :(

I had the option of having my Stagea delivered to my door for free, but I chose to fly to Sydney and drive it back, stopping by friends in Wagga, for a bit of a road trip. :)

I would hardly call 18 boring hours of long-haul driving enjoying your car. Dodging roos, nearly falling asleep at the wheel, avoiding crazy drug induced truck drivers, being done for speeding, getting stuck behind losers doing 90km/h in a 110km/h zone, getting robbed of your hard-earned buying very dodgy food at truck stops ....

Taking a car for a belt in the hills or around Mallala is, however.

Not quite the same IMHO.

I would break your 18 hrs down to 4 x 4.5 hr sessions over 2 days and staying at a nice motel at the halfway point, take my camera, my missus and cruise.

But then I sometimes drive old R Series Mack Trucks with a 20 ton trailers loaded with stores or Plant Equipment to and from the Cape which takes about 6 days doing about 90kph, now that is boring, sitting behind the wheel of my car and just cruising, stopping for photos and enjoying the scenery is what i enjoy.

ROAD TRIPS ROCK

I dunno.

I like a good thrashing around Mallala ... but I also love my road trips.

Can do Adelaide - Phillip Island without thinking about it (done it 10 times now) ... either riding to music or talking the trip away with passengers. I've also done the Sydney-Wagga-Adelaide trip twice now, with Canberra thrown in too. Its easy for me to just hit the road, with the amount of times I travel per year.

    • Its a 2002 vr-x four VQ25DET, silver. Coil overs, lowered, polished alloys and sport exhaust. Bit of a project, was sitting in a shed for a while but runs and drives great.

    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
