i had my car towed on the night of the accident to spencer, as this was easy at the time... it was open and my car got locked away.

after this, i spoke to shannons and they decided that this constituted my "choice of repairer"

i went in and inspected the shop and the work, and then decided to leave it there...

i tried to get it painted @ DT, but shannons would not allow it :)

it's ok, cause if i even find 1 thing wrong then i can have it resprayed... and i'm gonna check HARD.

i inspected the car this morning and the paintwork looks mint...

hahah dude, if someone is coughing up the $$ (ie Shannons) you wouldn't take it to DT :D I'm not bagging out Vu at all (my car was sprayed at DT, bodykit done at DT) but if i had the choice, i'd be straight to Mr Gloss or Charli Battisti (sp?) for like a $7K respray. And i know i wouldn't offend Vu by sending my car to Mr Gloss, he knows the score ;) Or even Mi-Colour

I'm sure if you said i'd like it sent to Mr Gloss, they wouldn't have cared but yeah, check the car thoroughly, but also keep an eye on it a few months down the track as well.

So what parts have been sprayed?

am i thinking of the right place? is it gardenvale?

still i think it was pretty weak of Shannons to take that as your "choice of repairer"... :)

its in south melb....

i was trying to get it into DT cause i was TRYING to get them to respray the whole car.... no dice...

and i doubt they would have footed a 10k micolour style bill :) (would have been 1st choice if they were respraying it)

fair enough if you were going for a full respray...

but still, as i understood it, if you said "Mi-Colour... now" then as their much vaunted "choice of repairer" that shouldn't have been the deal.

Maybe there's some fine print about dropping your car off at a panel beater, or something like that

Ditto..

If I ever need repairs/respray through insurance (touch wood), I'll be taking it to the most expensive place I can find...If that means they decide to write it off rather than pay the bill, then so be it. Vu knows he's my man if it's coming out of my pocket, but insurance wise I'll be taking them for all they're worth

both towies had to come out as the car was too low and woudn't fit on the first truck so we had to get the flatbed :P

spencer panels shop is amazing, i left the car there as they have the equipment and skills to do the job properly.\

the only reason i was thinking of going to vu was to get a full respray (spencer wouldn't even let me PAY the difference) and because they aren't too happy about modifying front bars etc, as they normally deal with stock cars.

after work has commenced you can't change repairer... shannons have said that if i'm not happy then i can have it done again wherever i want but i have to let spencer finish the job first

ok, that sounds fair enough :P and by the sounds of it, they know what you'll be getting in terms of quality from Spencers

DT arent good at all if you ask me, I had my fibreglass front bar repaired there, because my panelbeater doesnt do fibreglass, I asked to have ALL cracks in the damaged area ground back and filled back to original condish, and primer only over the repaired area.

I go to pick it up and the whole thing was painted over with primer...I get it painted a week later at my panel beater and low and behold cracks appear through the paint in the area that they supposedly repaired.

Rubbish work as far as im concerned.

there's fibreglass, and then there's fibreglass - you can't always guarantee the outcome even if done to what you asked.

you'll also find, unlike some places, they're happy to fix any issues that come up and you can bring it straight back.

DT Panels is good work and cheap prices. That's how i see it. Solid work, but if you want to go higher, then you gotta pay. Mi-Colour does great work but would be way more than DT.

did you take your front bar back to DT?

Ditto to all of the above. If you'd bothered to speak to DT, they would have rectified the problem. They are the best value for money panel beaters around. Of course if you wanted to pay $10000 for a respray you can go elsewhere, but if you want to pay $2000 and get a very reasonable job then they offer that option :ermm:

Well considering it cost me $500 to have the bar sprayed after the repair, i doubt they would give me $500 to have it sprayed again as well as repairing it for the 2nd time.

So i didnt waste my time. Just wont go there again.

    • Apologies for the long post, but needed somewhere to lay out the entire timeline of events and actions taken:   I've got an 89 GTR with a R34 RB in it. It's been running great all year, driven probably 500KM in the last month. It's not my daily driver, just a weekend fun car.    Build info: R34 RB26 - HKS 2.7 stroker kit, HKS adjustable cam gears, HKS turbo upgrades, Trust intercooler, R34 factory DENSO 440cc injectors, JUN chipped/tuned R32 ECU. All of this work was performed in Japan back in 2019.    Thursday 10/2/25 - It's a nice day and decided I'll drive it to work, I start it up in the garage and I notice it took a few extra cranks and sounded a bit funny. I figure maybe it was just because it was a pretty chilly morning. I pull it out into the driveway to warm up a bit before leaving. As I leave the driveway, it feels very off and sounds like a misfire. I pull it back in the garage to deal with after work and take the daily to work. I was able to diagnose it as a cylinder 5 misfire with the old spark plug test (unplugging each plug until a sound change with the engine running). I take off the whole ignition system, ignitor, plugs, spark. *Important note, it is still on the R32 ignition system with the separate ignitor system. I test each system with a multi-meter and nothing presents as a smoking gun. I put it all back together and it starts up no issue. I go ahead and order the PRP R35 ignition conversion kit. It should arrive today (10/13/25)   Friday 10/3/25 - Another nice day, car starts up great and drives great all day. Very pleased that everything seems to be OK   Sunday 10/5/25 - Decided I'll take it to play some golf, load up and drive to the course about 25 minutes away. Drives wonderful the whole way there, I pull in the parking lot and the engine completely comes to a stop. I do not recall if it sputtered at all, but just remember all of the sudden the engine was off. I roll it into a parking spot, try to crank it back on and nothing.  It'll crank and crank and not even try to start. End up getting it towed back to my house and push it up into the garage.    Items I have checked: Fuel in the tank Fuel Pump relay Fuel pump fuse  Spark Plugs & gap Coil packs Ignitor    I know the cylinders are getting fuel as the plugs smell like fuel after a start attempt. I tried spraying starter fluid into the manifold and cranking and not even a sputter.    I decided to do the live CAS test (removing the the CAS, ignition on and spinning the CAS stalk to see if the injectors pulse and spark is active). All of the injectors were pulsing and I have spark at the plug. The half-moon end of the CAS did seem very loose, I'm not sure how much play is supposed to be there, but it was more than I expected. There was no in/out play of the shaft, just the tip end that is pinned on had quite a bit of play.    CAS Play video   When I put the CAS back in, I stupidly did not re-time the engine. I know I need to do that tonight, however, I do not think it will start given it seemingly was not the issue. My plan is to do the PRP R35 coil kit and retime the engine at the same time.    I plan on ordering the Haltech Nexus Plug-in ECU once they are available again, but ideally would like to get this sorted before firing the parts cannon at it and potentially adding more variables.    Anything glaring that I am missing here, I'm a bit at a loss?
    • Get it on a dyno. Get something logging Consult. Run it up and find out what is causing it.
    • Looking for a plenum for rb25 de+t neo  Not looking to push much power maybe 300kw at the wheels, is there much difference in flow for Freddy “Greddy style” compared to original Greddy or options like Proflow or Otaku garage?    I won’t be porting the de Neo head for now as I think it’ll be fine 280-300rwkw but appreciate the help and any experiences anyone has between them and any advice. Thanks  Looking at this plenum for now below
