Tentative plan at the moment is too meet up at the BP/McDonalds at Milton Rd, Milton, parking at back of maccas or in streets behind. Head out on Waterworks Rd/Mt Nebo Rd/Mt Glorious Rd. 1 stop @ 27km @ Jollys lookout carpark. Then a 63km run to Somerset Dam picnic area, probably a 2nd stop to be decided. maps to follow soon.

yer count us in, just let me know a time for the nilton maccas meet up, maybe phil and i can meet somewhere and drive to milton together. just dont expect me to go fast as my car wont go over 2500-3000rpm.

Some mud maps for the cruise. I guess the time will depend on when Micah and Gold Coasters are planning to leave. TBA. No plan for return trip, either back using similar route or a more relaxing drive to the Bruce Hwy via Kilcoy.

If we end up parking in the undercover carpark at the rear of Ronnie's in Milton, might be a good idea to at least buy a 40c cone, thus avoiding any loitering issues which may arise.

Ok, so the Gold Coast (1st) meeting point will be at Coomera BP at 9.00am, with a 9.30 departure time. According to whereis.com, it should take us around 40 mins to reach Black st in Milton (Chook's meeting point), so I assume we'll leave a short time for any latecomers to arrive, and anticipate leaving there at around 10.20am-10.30am, then it's on to Chook's route. I am going to perform a full recce run this weekend, to determine any potential issues with roadworks, etc.

I am waiting on a large number of contact ph#s etc, and need to know what you guys want to do for lunch: bring your own, or contribute cash/food toward a bbq (if we go this way, I will need to know how many passengers/extras are coming, so we can get enough food and drink).

Info has now been added to first page

If you have any queries, please pm myself or Chook.

Cheers,

Micah

Micah, I drove the route today up to the Mt Nebo/Mt Glorious intersection, road is good. However the Jolly's lookout carpark only holds around 15 cars, as 1/2 is parking for motorbikes, empty today but on a Sunday might be hard to park all our cars. There is a another carpark further down the road on the same side, WESTRIDGE OUTLOOK, parking for around 25 I reckon. If you do the reccy run, could you check out what the parking is like there on weekends ? Simon

    • Wife wanted basket things in the wardrobe in our temporary house. Thought about ripping our the wardrobe and fitting the entire IKEA set, but it's a temporary house and we want to move in a few years. So IKEA advertises this as a 50cm unit, however the actually basket and rails measure 46cm wide. Only issue was depth, IKEA stuff is quite deep, where as the builder special junk is super shallow at less than 40cm. Send it, chopped the rails, then offset the mounting holes, job done, happy wife, less shit scattered all over the bedroom. Did the same to the other side too. Also drove the Skyline shit box today, dropped off oil at Supercheap Auto. I didn't realise they only now take max 2x bottles per visit. I visited 2x Supercheap Autos.
    • I've seen similar actually in my situation. You never know what tables are attempted to be used when the car thinks it's -99C or +200C. The fail state is not usually that extreme but you know what I mean - it was in my case though! This is where being able to read all the sensors is useful cause you see this stuff really quickly.
    • The above is very important. However as long as you keep timing relatively low, it's plausible to make your own knock ears and plausible to learn to tune with a modern ECU that can do wideband O2 correction like a boost controller. I mean if you only have one viable road to even drive the car on, learning to tinker to this level may be worth doing given you can't do much else with the car...?
    • I find the fact that the rear plate has to be bent inwards at the rear not so bad: but the front is just awful: It's like come on. (these are my very old, now retired/turned in plates) TBH it is a lot of money to fix a minor issue, the fact I said "I'll never really spend the money on doing this" is why people ended up buying them as a gift for a 'car guy' who can be hard to shop for.. for car guy things.
    • I just bent the ends of my premo plates. It even went through Regency like that after the engine conversion and the inspector (a great bloke!) just squinted his eyes and said "I didn't see that". Plates, and how they look, are just something that have zero importance to me.
