I've got the thread saved, so I'll upload them all in this post.

I did this but didn't sit the bracket down properly, oops. Does anyone else have quite a loud pump noise when turning ignition to ON but not turning the car on just yet? Heh. All good.

^^Awesome

I was gonna upload some pics when i do mine, but no need now, i shall still take some though.

Just a question about the install. Once i have installed the fuel pump, i don't need to change anything else, such as pressure's, injector duty cycles, etc etc. It's just install and go?

If you're still running stock ECU/FPR/injectors, no, I'm pretty sure it's all sweet.

I'm having the Adaptronic ECU installed at the moment, and I don't think it needs to adjust... but when I upgrade my inj/fpr/turbo, I'll have to make modifications to the flowrate.

Any fuel hose should do, just make sure it is the right size.

I tried installing mine today...i failed miserably :D. I got the pump onto the bracket, but when i went to install the pump into the tank, it wouldn't go in, like it was too big or something. Could it have been because i hose clamped the pump to the bracket? the pictures above just show the fuel pump just hanging there, is that right?

I used a metal ring clamp thingy to attach the pump to the bracket after cutting it, and it fits fine ;) Just gotta wiggle it around a bit.

And yeah, new fuel hose is good; just get stuff the same size, it's fair cheap.

Turns out I had a Walbro GSS 341 in there; now sitting here doing nothing :)

For wiring sake. Is the wire with the green stripe on it positive or negative? Im replacing the terminals now and forgot to take note of which way they went.

Thanks.

Likewise :) . The solid red cable is Positive (+), the red cable with line (grey/green, cant remember) is Negative (-).

Could i have a little help please fellas.

I am trying to do my pump again, and i am stuck as where to mount it.

Could you tell me from the following pictures, which way i need to mount it.

Last week when i tried, i tried doing in the same way as the third picture shows. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as my car is my daily, and i have work tomz.

I fitted mine the other week...only lasted about 500k's, the pipe i used was wrong and melted and the pump wasn't secured to the cradle. So the pump fell into the tank, and the car broke down, had to leave it in a maccas carpark for 2-3 days.

this is what i did...

Luckily my boss had installed a few of these before, he fitted it like you have shown. However i am only using 1 hose clamp (bottom one), i also got some new fuel hose from Autobarn. I also found that for me, the pump went in with the hose clamp tensioner/screw at the back of the cradle, so the opposite side to what you have.

  • 2 months later...

ok just wann know,

when mounted so low does this cause any issues like hitting the bottom of the tank as mentioned above?

and

Why are you guys not concerned about not using a filter/sock?

cheers

and while i am at it, these can be mounted in tank but these are "push" type pumps does this mean you gotta have 1/2 a tank to work/

and is anyone running these in tank without any surge tank setup

sorry about all the noob questions

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
