back in 2009 for another round! :)

This is the Fifth group buy for RB20, RB25, CA18 and SR20 coil pack covers. These covers are custom made and produced by AM Performance.

THE SHORT

The Covers – perfectly replaces your standard coilpack cover, with your choice of several CNC cut design’s (pre-designed from our database of brands, logo’s patturns etc (check previous group buys for existing designs) or you make your own design) with either a professional polished/mirror finish or professional powder coated finish (with additional oil and heat resistant paint added so it won’t be peeling off any time soon - with a variety of colours available).

Running time: Monday 19.01.09 till Monday 09.02.09

Expected delivery date: approx 25.02.09

Total Cost: $145 ($130 for the cover, $15 for Australia wide postage)

$5 from each cover sold will be donated to SAU from AM Performance

If you’re interested in buying and still want more info then please read all the information below as I’m sure most of your questions will be answered here! :D

THE LONG

Cover Designs

AM performance already has a vast database full of designs ready to be cut (such as name automotive brands, performance brands etc), or you can create your own personal design which can be anything you want! (within reason, keep in mind that there are obvious limitations with this sort of work)

If you choose to have your own custom design then please contact me with what you want done with either a detailed description, a rough picture from Microsoft paint for example, attached brand names that you want traced etc – it doesn’t have to be a work of art, just as long as you can get the general idea across then it would be perfect. I will send your request away to AM Performance so they can draw your final design up on the computer, once that is complete I will send the final result back to your for confirmation so the work can begin directly after the group buy period is over.

If you're after an existing design that AM Performance has previously made then please point out the picture and that will be sorted!

Polished/Mirror Finish: The picture’s below are product examples that were made for members of this forum from the previous group buy’s. As you can see the finish is a very high quality and a perfect match for any other polished/chrome parts you may already have on your car/in your engine bay.

Just to be crystal clear this amount includes the aluminum cover with chosen finish (polished or powder coated + paint), chosen custom design (pre designed or preferred custom design, CNC cut into the cover), new set of stainless screws (stainless or black) for the cover and Australia wide postage

$15 postage cost will post 1-3 covers, an additional $5 for 4-6, and more than 6 will need to be arranged.

Group-Buy Guidelines

- Group Buy starts Monday 19th Jan, 2009 and will run until Monday 9th February , 2009 - 7:00pm )

- Full payment is required before or on the finishing date – otherwise you will be left out. So if you place an order but chose to pay at a later date then please try not to forget!

- if you have chosen to do your own personal design then the drawings must be confirmed by you before the work starts – to make sure you know what you’re getting.

- if you expressed interest but did not pay, ill send you a PM roughly 3 days before the group-buy ends reminding you to make the deposit for the cover, but if you do not pay by the 9th of march then you will unfortunately be left out from the buy.. There will be no extended payment periods.

- custom designs are obviously very much welcome, but think carefully about what you want as constant re-designs will not be allowed as the CAD drawing process is very time consuming. So once again, think about what you want before enquiring :)

- Special Note: - because of the nature of this work it is predicted that the manufacturing time will be roughly 2-3 weeks. That means it’s likely to be 2-3 weeks from the end date of the group buy to the cover arriving at you’re door. But it must be mentioned that in the previous group buy’s there have been some delays due to such things as material problems, late confirmations, late payments etc, so please don’t be worried if the products are running late, they are guaranteed to arrive but it may require your patience. I will keep this topic constantly updated.

Ordering

Either PM or email me at [email protected] to place your order, if you have a custom order then please show/tell me what you want(as previously mentioned) and ill sort it out, but there is some information I will need from all the buyers, if you could copy & paste the below template (delete the italic font and complete with your order) and send me you’re information to keep things easy and fluent as possible so that i can pass all the orders and information on to Andrew at AM Performance in a easy format.

When ordering please also specify if you want any grill’s in the cover, design position, size etc. also please use some of the product examples as a reference for size, design, layout etc etc.

Hey Bryce,

Cheers for the pm i'll be doing my own design in a mirror finish for a RB20DET Redtop in the next few days.

Are redtop and silvertop coilpack covers the same?

Dave

cruzin33 - no worries mate. as far as i know the red and silver top have the same bolt up pattern, but i always specify what the engine exactly is on the final order so no need to stress

Hi mate. Thnx for the pm, and happy new year

Can i get this one in a polished/mirror style ? http://img55.imageshack.us/img55/3567/tndsc01359ib2.jpg

Can you ship it to Norway ? Possible to pay with paypal ?

Cheers

yeah mate no worries at all, shipping to norway isnt an issue but will cost slightly more (for example to ship to america its $32AUD instead of the $15AUD, so i assume it would be around the same amount), and yes very possible to pay with paypal :) if you would like to make an order then shoot me a PM with your info and description

Hey mate, I'd be interested in one for my CA18DET, in polished aluminium.

Here's a picture of my design, I'm happy for them to use their own Nismo symbol but incorporate my TRX symbol with it.

Just the words, no stripes on the sides or anything.

I also have Autocad drawings / DXFs if it would make it easier.

Hello, do you have any more pics available of any other Nismo designs besides the ones already in the links in this thread? Im interested in a Nismo design just not 100% sure of what I want yet.

    • Back again. I returned to Japan in Jul/Aug to spend time with the car on my birthday and remind myself what all the sacrifice and compromise is for. It happened to line up with the monthly morning meet in Okutama, which I have been wanting to go to for a long time. It's a unique event at a unique spot with really rare, interesting, and quirky cars. It's where all the oldheads and OGs gather. The nighttime scene at DKF certainly has its place and should be experienced if you're into cars, but there's too much bad attention and negativity around it now. IMO the better time is Sunday morning at DKF or Okutama; it's more chill and relaxed. I'm glad I was finally able to go, but not sure it's worth the drive from all the way from Nagoya immediately the day before, unless I was already staying in Tokyo for the days right before the meet, because you have to wake up quite early to make it in time. Funnily enough though I didn't drive the car all that much this trip because it was just too damn hot. While there were zero issues and running temps were nominal and the A/C was strong, RBs already run crazy hot as it is. Sure, it took it all like a champ but something about driving these cars in the ridiculous heat/humidity bothers me and makes me feel like I'm asking too much of it. I'm just me being weird and treating the car like a living thing with feelings; I'm mechanically sympathetic to a fault. Instead I was mainly driving something else around - a KX4(silver) 2001 X-Trail GT, that I acquired in May. There's a few different flavors to choose from with Xs, but visually it's the Nissan version of the Honda CR-V. Mechanically it's a whole different story as this, being the top-trim GT, has an SR20VET mated to a four-speed auto and full-time AWD! It was a very affordable buy in exceptional condition inside and out, with very low mileage...only 48k kms. Most likely it was owned by an older person who kept it garaged and well-maintained, so I'm really happy with how it all worked out. It literally needs zero attention at the moment, albeit except for some minor visual touch-ups. I wanted something quirky, interesting, and practical and for sure it handily delivers on all three of those aspects. I was immediately able to utilize the cargo and passenger capacity to its full extent. It's a lot of fun to drive and is quite punchy through 1st and 2nd. It's very unassuming -in the twisty bits it's a lot more composed than one would think at a glance- and it'll be even better once I get better tires on it(yes, it's an SUV but still a little boat-y for my liking). So...now I have two golden-era Nissans in silver. One sports car and one that does everything else; the perfect two-car solution I think👍 The rest of the trip...I was able to turn my stressed brain off and enjoy it, although I didn't quite get to do as much as I thought. I did some interesting things, met some interesting people, and happened into some interesting situations however, that's all for another post though only if people really want to know. Project-wise, I went back to Mine's again to discuss more plans and am hoping to wrap that up real soon; keep watching this space if that interests you. Additionally, while working in the tormenting sweatbox that is the warehouse, I was able to organize most of the myriad of parts that my friend is storing for me along with the cars, and the 34 has a nice little spot carved out for it: And since it can get so stupid hot in there, that made it all the more easy -after I was standing there looking at the car and said 'f**k it'- to finally remove all the damn gauges that have mostly been an eyesore all this time. Huzzah. The heat basically makes the adhesive backing on the gauge mounts more pliable to work with, so it was far less stressful getting this done. I didn't fully clean it up or chase the wiring though; that will happen once I have the car in closer possession. Another major reason to remove all that stuff is to give people less reasons to get in my car and steal s**t while it's being exported/imported when/if the time comes, which leads us to my next point... ...and that is even though it's time in Japan is technically almost up since it's a November car and the X would be coming in March, I'm still not entirely sure where my life and career is headed; I don't really know what the future looks like and where I'm going to end up. I feel there's a great deal of uncertainty with me and as a result of that, it feels like I'm at a crossroads moreso now than any point in my life thus far and there are some choices I need to make. Yes, I've had some years to consider things and prepare myself, however too much has happened in that time to maintain confidence and everything feels so up in the air; tenuous one might say. Simply put, there's just too much nonsense going on right now from multiple vectors. Admittedly, I'm struggling to stay in the game and keep my eyes on the prize. So much so in fact, that very recently I came the closest I ever have before to calling it quits outright; selling everything and moving on and not looking back. The astute among you will pick up on key subtext within this paragraph. In the meantime I've still managed to slowly acquire some final bits for the car, but it feels nice knowing there's not much left to get and I'm almost across that finish line; I have almost everything I'll ever want for my interpretation and expression on what it is I think an R34 should be. 'til later.
    • Thanks for that, hadn’t used my brain enough to think about that.
    • Also playing with fire if they start to flow more air down low than what the stock twins can. It's not even up top you need to worry, it can be at 3000rpm and part throttle and it's getting way more flow than it should.
    • Any G40/1000 or G40/1250 results out there?
    • You still want a proper tune on the stock ECU though. Stock tune + stock ECU with GT-SS/-9s is probably playing with fire if you're running more than stock airflow/power.
