will be in the market soon for one of these cars. The only problem is i cant find many evos out there for sale. I've tried carpoint, drive, etc .... can u guys recomment other websites?

Anyways, I've looked into both cars, just wanted u guys opinions on both...

kind leaning towards the evo cos its so rare in Australia, plus constant awd, 4 door ,etc ...I can make those wrx's drivers jealous :P ( we all know wrx drivers want evos deep down) ;)

If i had a family and i still wanted a fast-4 pocket-rocket definately the Evo-6(the only last true Evo IMHO) gets my vote.....4doors too;)

but right now i'm leaning towards the R33 GT-R....not sure about making WRX drivers jealous or not...but i'm sure it'll be able to keep up with the best of them:D

Personaly I would go for the EVO 6, I love the Skylines especially the GTR's but I have a family and trying to get a good family sports car (4 Door) is a bit harder to chose.

EVO 6 or R34 GT-T Sedan is what I would be looking at.

The reason you don't see many evo's around is they don't represent very good value.

The Evo has wind up, wind down windows for example.

It's also a pretty uncomfortable ride.. the only thing you pay for, the only thing you get.. is the 0-100 and 0-400 times and the driving experience. The GTR gives you that as well as stuff like .. *gasp* air conditioning, power windows and those kind of features.

Also I don't really feel justified paying 60k+ for a 4 cylinder turbo car.

I'd take the R33 GTR.. get a later model vspec.

As Rezz said, various evos comes in various configurations (RS (?), GSR, tommi makinen, GTA, etc) - If you find one, it'll probably be the 'base' model which has all the normal goodies.

The interior is a bit bland - but then again, the 33 interior isn't exactly inspiring either.

There is an evo vi for sale on performance forums right now (check it out when the site is back up)

i absolutely love everything about the evos... looks (pre-evo7 models that is.... i don't know what they are thinking these days...) , performance, etcetc...

one thing that stopped me buying an evo over gtr was, at the end of the day they are just very fast lancers...

the evo like the gtr sit very well on the road, ride wise they are stiffer than ny other car but thats wat u get when u want a "sports" car, i'd get the TME evo 6, GSR, titanuim twin scroll turbo mmmmmmmmm

i dig the interiors, they equiped with recaros and are very functional!

Given that the 350Z is a 2 seater only, I don't think thats very good advice mate.

Probably should learn a bit more about a car before you recommend it :D

    • So could it be assumed it has been installed intentionally with potentially a power FC boost controller kit?
    • Had my rig on Matt's dyno at PITS the other day. After a few years between tunes I added a few sensors and swapped intercoolers. Result. 553hp at 26psi. Not bad for an FJ20 that was built in 2007. The problem.. It filled the overflow bottle on hard runs which leads me to believe the head gasket isn't sealing. I have a coolant pressure sensor which was reading cap pressure at 22psi and occasionally overrunning to 23/24 psi on deceleration after a pull. It was not spiking. It has arp2000 head studs and a cometic gasket. As its been 18 years in service, I pulled the engine out and head off. Everything looks good but we obviously have an issue. Where I'm at.. Years ago I had the same issue, I checked the stud tension and they were all over the place. Some at 60 to 70 and some up near 90. I nipped them all to 100ft lbs and this stopped the water push until now. I believe this compromised the gasket back then. What do I do? 2 options are..  1) I bought arp 625+s, which I could put in with a new gasket. Thinking Kameari this time, reassemble and try again. 2) strip the block, get fire rings machined in with copper gasket and try that. I do not want to push it more than 28 to 30psi. I think the turbo will be out by then anyway. (G30-770). My other concern is the long term ability of a copper head gasket. Are they streetable for years? I feel like a new gasket with the new studs will probably suffice, but I don't know. Any thoughts welcome and advice on copper gaskets and fire rings. Thanks!
    • I'm a fan of the JZX110, and the Aristo. Big cruiser cars, and with the factory cars, super comfortable and feel like you're driving an armchair! And the JZ motors are a pretty nice engine too, especially with some basic mods.   The import process, and the need to be able to trust people, and the fact there's so many scammers around is what ever puts me off wanting to go through that ordeal!
    • I don't care for these at all, but at least the underside looks straight and not rusty. A good basis for a long life. Many cars from Japan have been lifted with forklifts and f**ked almost irrepairably.
    • Yes, but it's not dumb or dodgy. You can build a perfectly good boost controller from a pressure reg, a relief valve (looks same same as a reg if all from Norgren or SMC, for example) and a check valve. I ran one for years. Only superceded with  EBC because I could get one for cheaps and wanted finer control.   THis mod is certainly not a sketchy boost mod, provided the boost is kept below the "spin to death" threshold of the turbos.
