Like many others who buy imports you find yourself stuck with a JDM stereo that is no

good for local conditions. Won't play local DVDs, unusable Navi, FM stage wrong, etc.

Advice on this forum was to "bin it". But I had it all removed and took pictures, and

sent them to a japan auction buying service. They listed it on yahoo in Japan and handled

any queries. It sold yesterday for 85,000 yen which is money for old rope as far as I

was concerned. I sent it express (cost $120) and the service is going to rebox, and send

domestically to the lucky buyer who will probably get it inside a week. They charged 10%

for this service. I'll probably get $1300 out of the whole exercise. It was a 2004 model, btw,

with outdated maps.

Anyway, there you go. If you know the model number of your stereo you can easily do

a search to see if items are being listed and what they are getting bid to or what buy-now

price is on them. For older/simpler units it not be worth it but I know some people

have had cars with similar units to the one I just sold - flip out screen, hard disc, navi,

that kind of thing - so my advice is to check before you "bin it"!

what site did you look on....? I have a full Pioneer Cozzorria set up, head unit, under seat surround sound thingo, GPS, DVD player, screen and harddrive that I wanted to shift, who did you contact?

I'll send you a PM, because I'm not sure they want to deal with random people

asking them to shift stuff that is unlikely to sell. If you can't find your model listed

already on auctions.yahoo.co.jp by others, it might be a dead end.

The one I had there are always about half a dozen or more units listed any day of the

week, even though it was a 2004 and quickly outdated.

what about the single din one? just tape, no cd

nope only after those and V35 ones. I'm hacking a carozzerria avic now (with a local unit.) so I may at some stage grab another. dont offer them to me..

I've got one of those double din's (tape/cd) if it's wanted/needed?

Chris, with the ipod control, is that utilised via the cd stacker function?

In turn choose 'disc1' for ipod 'playist1', 'dics2' for ipod 'playlist2' and so on.

Or does it just play the the songs sequentually and/or randomly from start to finish.

I've got the Clarion DR9675z which is about 10 years old now, bought the clarion ipod control (cenet)

unit about 1 year ago, and it just uses the ipod like a cd stacker, just name my playlist Clarion1, Clarion2 etc... Basically brought my functionality up to date with current model units.

I was wrapped with this...good thinking Clarion to maintain their cenet standard across various units over the years.

p.s. Does the navi unit have any touch screen functionality? Thinking of purchasing one as to integrate with a car pc.

it is. its not C NET though. N bus is what these things run. the ipod lead is a aftermarket lead. same idea as the EA1251/79 that you have.

regarding navi - ring me.

Ahh yeah.. simple enough.

Will send a pic through tonight of my unit, im at work presently.

Just clicked on your link, having a look at your website now, will give you a call during the week.

Cheers Chris :D

    • Hi Guys, Does anyone know any aftermarket part numbers for a starter motor to suit the VQ25DET? I can find lots of alternative part number for the VQ35DE, which I assume would fit, but there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Thanks..
    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies.
    • Sounds like you've got an interesting adventure ahead here with local support if you have trouble! My guess is that, unboosted, you will be OK with a small upgrade like -9. What will happen is that once the stock ECU sees more airflow than it expects it will add a heap of fuel and pull a heap of timing to be safe because it can't understand how it could get that much air without there being an issue. You will see clouds of black smoke and it won't pull hard through the midrange and top end. So, overall it will be a bit frustrating but should be OK. If you are still nervous set the base timing back 2o through the CAS, but it will be even more sluggish everywhere. As said above through...this is not my guarantee your engine won't be blown into a million pieces, leaving you looking for very hard to find parts A better idea is get a computer with logging ASAP, wire in a wide band O2 sensor and a use remote tuner. I've done multiple cars this way and while it is not as good as a specific tune on a dyno they can get it 90% right. I'd suggest if you can afford an R33 GTR these days you can afford an ECU and tune. And if you can't afford that you sure won't be able to afford the rebuild if it goes bad in the meantime,.
    • Yeah it would be nice if someone took the time to put that sort of information together, but there are a lot of variations in looms. I think you are making this way hard for yourself if you just want to get it running....sourcing an SR20 with the right wiring will be a billion times easier than matching the RB loom to an S15 chassis. If you do end up going this way, you just need to trace every wire in the loom with a multimeter, 95% of them will go to a location you can confirm at the ECU.....and then post it up for the next person who needs it
    • Just top it up with water, and keep a general idea of how much you added. It is normal for water to be pushed into and pulled out of the reservoir through the cap, and it should not be more than half full or it will be likely to overflow when hot. Any decent mechanic can do a pressure test of the cooling system to confirm if you have a leak. Keep in mind if it is only leaking a little and when hot it may well evaporate before you see it hit the ground
