I am building a RB30/RB26 and aiming for around 550bhp.. Are aftermarket coil packs a must? If so what options do I have? I have seen some on ebay that are advertised as bein as good as splitfire coil packs.. anyone used anything other than Splitfire?

Recommendations please.

Thank you

Lee

Aftermarket coil packs are only required if you current ones start failing, otherwise a waste of money.

Since when did you start believing everything you read on ebay? :ermm:

I have heard thst they aren't as good as the splitfires.

Just for confirmation I doubt everything I read on ebay!! Hence my post!! I generally doubt most things I read unless they are backed up! I figured they probably weren't as good as splitfires but if they were an improvement on stock then it's worth knowing if mine can't handle it!

Thank you for the info by the way. Saves my blowing money unnecessarily at this stage!

Splitfires right now are quite a expensive compared to 6 months ago, so as Al said, hold off on those. They're a drop in item that doesnt take much time anyway so speaking from experience id suggest you get the motor internals and head sorted out first, splitfires can be almost the last thing needed so keep an eye out for 2nd hand sets

This has been covered 100 times.

As per Al's post above, there is no need to replace your current Coils unless they are failing.

If and when they start to break down, then look around at replacement options
