hey,

i was wondering if someone could tell me what this problem is...

on the acceleration/de-acceleration point when either in neutral or gear when you hammer it to about 6-7k rpm on the decelration you get a audible buzz sound,

Also after running the engine a bit and of coursing hammering it a bit, but not to much lol, when i park it and let it idle im getting a sort of whinning whisteling sound from the engine can exactly pin point it though but sounds like it coming from the right side of the bay

any help would be great

thanks

its kinda hard to tell

but if it does it in idle.......

try opening the bonnet.....and accelerate in neutral with the butterfly/Throttle with your hand...and look in with a torch or something.....

and then you will have a closer look at what it is.....

let us know how you go......

are they the same sound???

cause if not.. when your accelerating.. could possibly be the stereo system with interference.. turn off your head deck and see if that solves the first one.. if not don't 'hammer' it anymore till you diagnose.. take to a mech otherwise something might be waiting to POP

Haha, yeah that was the first thing that came to my mind! They've run the RC cables down the side of your gearbox and when you rev it, the increase in friction (or whatever) in the gearbox gets picked up by the RC cables and transfers to your speakers.

Ive done it with the head deck off and the sound is still there,

the sound happens even when in idle, when you accelerate and release the gas and the revs are starting to com down a bout a second after that you get that buzz sound, almost like one of those pissed off rhino beetles is getting pissed off in the engine lol

Do you have an amp man? Try disconnecting it from the battery cos turning the deck off will not do it. If the noise still doesn't change then it is something mechanical and i owe you a beer.

LOL Rhino beetles?! never heard of thier calls.....

well try reving it and put your ear against the speaker of the stereo.... if its not there then its not that...

Ill give that a go and let you know how it ends up

thanks

yeah from what your ttrying to explain, it doesnt sound like the radio, since your telling us its from the motor area on the drivers side..

just make sure...that it isnt splits on the stereo with little tweeters near the front window frame on your side. some cars do have them there

    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
    • Fair enough, I am in no way a tire expert so I'm not familiar with all the terms and conditions. I'll definitely note down the AD09 to potentially try in the future. Rain is not too big of a concern for now as I will probably only drive in the rain when I have to. And considering I still lack experience driving the GTR I'd more than likely take it easy too. I have coilovers in the car but as I barely got to drive so far I never bothered to even check if they are adjustable haha. The suspension is almost entirely old and worn as well so I suppose when I eventually fix that in the future that would make a huge difference.
    • There's not a great deal to report here .... except ...... FOR .... LSD!!!  I bought a Quaife LSD from the UK and shipped it here .... Wish I'd just bought locally cause the shipping and duty was $700! But there were so many diffs used in the E90s I just wanted to be absolutely certain I was getting the right one so I spoke with a supplier in the UK who builds race cars and they have heaps of experience with the E90s.  I pulled the diff out which was seriously awesome - I've never done anything like that before, I must have watched 1000 videos on YT about it as well as consulting the Bentley manual. It was super easy in the end. The diff was delivered to the awesome folks at Hornsby Diffs and will be back in a few weeks. I also replaced the diff bushings with some Nolathane ones.  Really looking forward to getting it back and getting back to the track or even the skidpan.
    • yeah... the 13kg/mm springs weren't always in there, I had 10kg/mm but doing a few SMSP commanded heavier front springs. It's so good now going into T1 and T2, just need more seat time and real tyres.
