Hi everyone,

This may sound a bit silly but here goes.

My Rb25 Turbo (R33) is at Hypergear getting the highflow (ATR28G3 450hp) work done and Im getting a 14psi actuator installed as well, As I have not yet got a Z32 AFM or injectors and I was wondering what a safe level of boost would be until I can get these extra bits.

I am still going to drop it down to CRD for a tune once the Turbo is back and I have most of the supporting mods but Im unsure wether I should leave the boost set at 15psi or lower it until AFM and Injectors can be put on.

I know i should have probably got the AFM & Injectors first but the stuffed Turbo was unexpected (And Untimely!)

Im curently running 217rwkw@15psi with standard Turbo

Mods are as follows:

Hybrid FMIC/ Apexi Super suction kit/Custom Air intake and box/Split Dump pipe/HKS 3.5" Cat back/Catco Metal cat (1016cfm I think)/Greddy EMU/Profec Spec B EBC/And as of next week High flow turbo

Any views?

Ta

Standard gtst AFM have a air resolution to 220 rwkw, so if you are making 220 rwkw on 10psi with the highflow then 10psi is all you should run.

As for your injectors 220 rwkw is also safe for them, anymore and your just asking for trouble. Think of it this way, its cheaper to upgrade your injectors before running higher boost than replacing your motor because it wasnt getting enough fuel.

should be right on your after market ecu. ( get tune once u upgrade rest of ya stuff )

i blew my motor up (4 cracked pistons) on my slide hi flow on stock ecu on 16psi after a few months..

Hey therre i just got my highflow as well same as you! im running it on now with stock AFM stock injectors @ 1bar. It runs pretty good! but there are some flatspots . I will get a tune soon with my PFC.

im running a safe 307 rwhp (229kw) on 11 psi on my highflow until i get injectors and ecu. using a safc2. knock only going to 17-20 on a hot day but sitting on 0 when driving. my dyno

Hey Pal are you still running stock AFM or Z32?

Also what size injectors do all you peeps recommend, 555's or 740's ?

I should be able to get the Z32 in a week or two but the injectors may take a little while

just save up and do both at the same time, another option is s15 injectors i was running them and they are good for around 280 rwkw no worries i just sold my set for $450 as well so they are a good value upgrade. z32 can be had for around 150 -200 so in all for around 600 + 200 for re tune you should be sweet just keep an eye on the for sale section. i think there is another set going for around the same price.

    • Version 1 aluminium airbox is.......not acceptable No pics as I "didn't like the look.....alot" Even after all my "CAD", and measurements, the leg near the fusebox just didn't sit right as it ended up about 10mm long and made the angle of the dangle look wrong, the height was a little short as well, meh, I wasn't that confident that Version 1 was going to be an instant winner I might give Version 2 another go, there's plenty of aluminium at work, but, after having in on and off a few times, and laying in the old OEM airbox without the new pod filter and MAF, there may be an option to modify the OEM air box and still use the Autoexe front cover and filter.... maybe This >  Needs to fit in here, but using the panel, and not the pod, the MAF will need to fit in the airbox though> I'm thinking as the old OEM box and Autoexe cover that is sitting in the shed is just sitting around doing nothing, and they are relatively abundant and cheap to replace if I mess it up and need another, it may well fit with some modifications to how the Autoexe brackets mounts to the rad support, and some dremiling to move it get in there, should give me some more room for activities, as I don't want to move the MAF and affect the tune Sealing the hole it requires to stick it in the air box is simple, a tight fit and some pinch weld will seal it up tight  I am calling this a later problem though
    • and it ends up being already priced in as though you're just on 91RON without any ethanol. Car will lose a bit of economy as the short and long term fuel trims bring down the AFR back to stoich or whatever it is for cruise/idle for the engine.
    • Oh, you are right. But, in Australia E10 is based on 91RON fuel and ends up being 94RON. Hence it being the cheaper option for economy cars. The more performance oriented cars go for the 98RON fuel that has no ethanol mixed in. The only step up we have left then at some petrol stations is E85.
    • There is a warning that "this thread is super old" but they ignore that anyway...
    • With 10% Ethanol, we're talking 2-3% fuel consumption difference. The emissions reductions and octane boost in my opinion far outweigh this almost non existent loss.    My tanks sitting at 80%. Luckily that should go down fast as I'm on vacation again for the next two weeks.
