Hey Guys

Ive read heaps of pages on the stagea, but are wanting a bit of advise from any stagea owners.

Ive just started looking around for a Stagea to buy, im looking to get a 2002 onwards model in axis form if i can. Firstly any advice from what dealers to look at? ( prefer Melbourne ) , it seems dealers have more stock than private sellers. What is the highest spec model in the stagea? , im wanting a manual but i know im dreaming on that wish!.. Also when i try to get insurance quotes online no company has stagea listed. Any help would be great guys :)

Luke

The newer stageas M35 only come in auto / Tiptronic. There are 2 configurations as far as I know a VQ25det engine option and also a VQ25DE engine option.

Apparently there is also a VQ35DE model (non turbo) this is apparently the top model Stagea I think this may have a manual option but it is bloody rare and I am not even sure if this model is available for import into Australia.

If you are looking for an M35 model the pick of the bunch would be an Autech Axis Stagea.

On the other hand the older C34 models have alot more options and tuning parts available. There is a couple in Manual also either the RS260 or Type S, virtually the same but only has an RB25DET as opposed to the RB26dett that the RS260 has. I have a C34 Type S and I love it.

C34 S1 ran from 1996 to 1998

C34 S2 ran from 1998 to 2001

M35 till 2007 although only models earlier than 2003 are eligible to be imported into Australia as after this time the engine doesn't meet emissions or something like that.

Either model of Stagea is awesome but in summary if you are wanting something to do up and modify then go C34 as there are more available parts and manual is an option. If you just want a nice fast cruiser an just want to put some rims and maybe some suspension into it then maybe go M35 but it will cost a bit more to buy.

Cheers

I also have an RS4S manual Stagea and love it!

I would be tempted to sell it though if you were interested as I am starting to want an auto to drive to work in.

Mine has HKS turbo, PFC etc etc

Cheers

would you want an auto stagea? or too sell the turbo and PFC maybe?

As for dealers- Kamikaze!

Dunno... I am pretty attached to what I have as I modified it all from standard but I would be looking to buy an M35 maybe or even a GTR (always wanted one).

If it came to it I would part the car and sell it stock but that is only if I cannot move it for a while..

PM me if you would like to know all the mods

It would be a big decision to sell the Stagea though, they are so conveient, go hard and the cops dont even look twice at you!

Dave

Also: I have dealt with SSV who have quality cars.

I've got a RS4V and I love it (obviously i would love to get an RS4S but at the time I brought mine they were still going for about 22-24k)

If you are looking for some style and class...get the M35 - if you can get Autech Axis Edition then even better (but hard to find) but if you looking for performance then get a C34. Autos are everywhere but if you can find a manual one (RS4S) then go for it...260RS is very nice but they are quite a hit on the ol' hip pocket.

It all comes down to how much you want to spend

autech series 1 around 30k

autech series 2 around 45k (hard to come by)

SSV have them and or can get (got a ncie m35 blue one with body kit and suspension last time i drove past)

Kamikaze Motors have them also ..

plenty of prive, but for a specific m35, best to private import. i would say go to the stagea forum on here and post up what car you want model and specs.

sure some one would have an idea on where to get it from

    • Hi everyone, I've been wrestling with this for a while now and have been trying to find out the cause. For context, the turbos used are Garrett 2860 -5s, the BOV is a BNR32 HKS SSQV IV kit, the car is currently tuned to ~470 whp on 17.5 psi. The car drives normally, pulls well when it doesn't happen, and I can replicate it fairly easily. It does not sound like turbo shuffle or flutter. The engine has only a thousand or so miles and has had this behavior since it was completed. After my engine was built for my R32 GTR, I noticed that the car now sometimes makes an air discharge sound on what appears to be positive boost pressure that sounds really similar to a BOV. I had thought that it was a BOV issue but even when replacing it with a brand new unit, the sound persisted. It seems like it's coming from the passenger side but I may be mistaken. The closest scenario I could find was this post here https://www.gtr.co.uk/threads/maybe-a-boost-leak-opinions.147955/https://www.gtr.co.uk/threads/maybe-a-boost-leak-opinions.147955/ started by @yakshii and it sounds very similar. As in, at partial throttle once I reach positive boost I begin to hear the same psh psh psh psh psh sound like air is leaking somewhere when I keep the throttle in the same position. It most commonly happens in 4th gear at around 3-3.5k RPM and 5th gear around 2.5-3k RPM, which seems to coincide with normal positive boost thresholds. It might be similar to what @Austrian GTR mentioned about his own HKS SSQV. Notable difference would be that when he applies more throttle when it happens, it stops. In my scenario if I apply more throttle during this repeated psh psh psh sound, the cadence of the sound gets faster and louder rather than stopping. If I lift off slightly and apply throttle again, it will normally stop and pull without issue. I've checked all rubber couplers to ensure that they are tight, but have not gotten the opportunity to properly do a pressurized boost leak test. If anyone has had similar experiences or thoughts on what might be the cause, I'd be very keen to hear them. I also have a video of it happening from inside the cabin, if that would make it easier to understand: https://youtu.be/2zqZXcx8jbA
    • I'd want at least $40K for mine, but thats easy to say cos I'm not selling anyway.
    • That's incorrect. We have 4 seasons, consisting of pre winter, winter, post winter and a small glimpse of hope!
