Just wanted a quick check.

My friend got a c34 engine in his car. Its rb25det. Electronic vise its like early r33 engine. I didn't check the coilpacks though. CAS is mitsu, the TPS sensor is like on r32/early r33/rb26. But the ECU socket is gray like NEO engine, and consists of 3 plugs. Not like old nissans - blue plug/socket.

So my question is will I be able to get a NEO nistune board into that ECU and will it work ? Or ecu internals are like old r33 ?

Need some input.

Thanks!

wont work, buy the sounds of it he has the engine out of the S1 stagea, you can't install the nistune board on these. the ecu internals are like the R33 ecu's with an R34/S2 plug.

Have you asked Nistune...?

Or wait for Trent/Status/URAS too see this thread and be led to the sister thread in the Stagea section! http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ni...63#entry4457563

As if it is do-able, that is who i will be seeing haha

r32 ecu +adjustable cam gears... or Z32 ECU, both work on r33's, so why not us? If a S2 ECU or R34 then that makes it less work as they atleast use the same plug bar some pinout variations on the 34...

I think you will find that the engine you have is the same as a 33 and i would assume the ecu would be the same, can be done, but for the money you are spending you could get a power fc instead, a lot of screwing around to get them to work.

Other options are to mod a Z32 ecu (there is one for sale in the for sale section) or use an R32, if you go an R32 you wont have vct.

I looked into it for a while and ended up going for a power fc.

I don't think they know

You dont know if you dont ask! Seriously send me an email through and I'll have a look into it. The main thing I would need from you is

(a) photo of the insides of the ECU so I can see what internal connectors (if any) there are)

(b) consult download of ROM image. You need a consult cable for this. Use trial version of Nistune with ER34 address file and do Operations-Consult Download

Email those through and then I can see if it runs. It most likely will since ER34/WC34 (stagea) are basically the same. From what I have observed so far C34 may be also... and I might be able to bench test the board in an ER34 on the bench too

  • 10 months later...

Hello guys what did you find out. I have the same issue myself right now. I wanted to get a Nistune setup but not sure if it will work on my board. Some suggested that since I still have my old z harness that I take the the blue end and rewire my c34 harness to match a normal R33 harness. So as we all know that is a lot of work but cheaper than buying a used harness for like 350. So your help would be greatly appreciated.

    • Yeah, I don't believe the M35 uses a deadhead system.
    • Have you done your thinking backwards? 3 bar, 43.5 psi pressure drop being the presumed specification for an injector, means you need 3 bar upstream when they are firing into atmospheric pressure, and more upstream pressure than that when on boost (you add your boost to your rail pressure to maintain 3 bar across the injector) and you need..... less pressure upstream when you have vacuum in the manifold. So, presuming that you're idling at -10 psi, then you only need ~23 psi in the rail. I realise that I did not need to say all of that to you specifically Matt, once you'd realised your mistake. It's mostly there for complete clarity for others.
    • Have you reached out to the guys at Spool Imports? They are a Ross dealer, I can imagine they would have the rings just sitting on the shelf (I could be wrong).
    • There's one for sale at Grand Auto Wreckers in Lonsdale (SA), for .... let's suggest the sum they're asking for will make you cry. You may have to embrace the idea of modifying the rear subframe to accept some other diff. You could probably find a way to wangle a shortnose into there, with a custom rear adapter and some sort of shenanigans to relocate the front mounts. This has probably already been done by others, so there might be some guidance available as to how easy/impossible it is, out there in the googles. But you possibly needn't restrict yourself to Nissan diffs if you're going to contemplate that. There are similarish Toyota diffs, possibly some Euro ones, possibly some Seppo ones.
    • The ball joint taper and arm taper have to match angle and diameter, but just doing the bushes is a much better option.....seems like the industry moved to "it is cheaper to replace the whole arm than take on the labour for changing this bushes", glad the aftermarket supports it
