none of the reasons you have presented make it a good reason to convert your car

you should just sell yours and buy a GTST and be done with it

it will take more time, cost more and end up with a 3/4 done job by converting it

  • 1 month later...

well this thread is going to live again my mate whos a boiley me and him were talkling tonight were going to set it up stealth ive bought a new ute to drive and my cars pretty much going to be getting a complete rebuild over the next year hes taking the turbo off his xr6 and going bigger so he palmed it off to me :| its big yes but ill get everything done right so when it goes pop then ill put in some forgies

didnt get the exhausut done once i hit a pole i really dont know what to do with the car jsut contemplating respraying it gates timing belt kit new water pump alternator putting in the hid's new tyres new wheel bearing and selling it, im barly home as my works always taking me to cairns mackay blackwater and stuff so i could see the car in better hands plus if i was going to rebuild a car id want a 32 gtr instead its got everything big brakes 4wd already turbo, sjut buy something with moderate mods put a dog box in and itd jsut be a weekender i jsut bought a new ranger for a daily cops pull me up wayy too much in the skyline P plate skyline go figure

yeah well more thinking and looking at the work i have over the next year im open to offers atm its good needs a respray and some panel work needs the new wheel bearing ive got put in but other wise a very good car i think its got roughly 138 500 on it, parents are buying 40 acres so only logical thing to do is build a shed with a house type setup in it and buy something a little later on instead of it sitting around collecting dust, yeah jsut a caqnnon on it came with the car cars pretty much stock always looked after oil changed every 4000k

Just curious, but are you aware of the costs/punishment of being caught driving a turbo car?

Is it really worth it?

Not to mention the issues surrounding insurance for you and other parties involved...should the worst happen...

How many years have u got left on ur P's?

This conversion will prob take ages and by the time its perfect, you will prob be off ur P's. You're better off waiting and trading in ur NA for a GTSt. Less headaches that way. Are you also going to replace the gearbox coz from what i understand the NA gearboxes are not as strong as the GTSt's.

Not sure what the law in Qld is, but you might be able to drive a GTSt insured if its in ur parent's name and is the only car in the household. I know in Vic there is some provision for this sort of thing, but if I were you, I'd be looking into any sort of loophole in QLD law that will allow you to drive it.

afaik GTS's and GTSts share the same boxes, just with different ratios for obvious reasons. the conversion could be done in a weekend provided you have everything necesary. mines been a slow progression over about 2 months, even now still ironing out minor faults, but its come a long way :)

VIC does have provisions and such.

Excellent point.

To the

Browser had a hissy fit. As I was saying.

To the original poster, can you afford to lose your car AND pay for the other person's car if you have an accident? Don't say it won't happen, because it does.

Justcar and that quite frequently inspect imports that have been in accidents, and if they spot you're driving an illegal vehicle they won't pay you a cent.

    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
