Great news! We have an additional sponsor!

Targa Tom has kindly donated his set of DMS springs/shocks for use in Targa! They're on the way to the workshop as we speak. With this setup it should be alot more supple on the bumpy stuff, and easier to drive wet :( Can't wait to feel the difference!

Thank you Greg! :(

Also, Russ and I have waived goodby to our cars, they're on the way to Melbourne town. We'll next see them in Launceston on the Monday before the event.

Awesome. I just bought new remotely adjustable Teins for my car. So if you would like back to back my current Teins with the DMS to find out what works better. I am keen as mustard to get the best suspension under my car as it is going to be outgunned in the power stakes when t gets back on the track

Did you cry and wave hankies as they left?

Your ANZAC barbie sounds like a nice and easy plan for a catch up, if no dramas with all of us crashing (with bring our own supplies ofcourse).

You need something to harness all that RB20 power Roy. I'll save you wearing out gear... My old Skyline is running Tein on the track down here and is quite competitive. You can get away with a lot on the track... buy the best you can afford.

The differnce between 15k suspension and 5k suspension is 10k. You get what you pay for.

For Targa, where you are looking for a set-up that is good at least 75% of the time (a lot harder than it sounds) the of the shelf Tein(even with additional EDFC 32clicks) will be found wanting.

DMS Ohlins Proflex Intrax MC Stack Koni Exe-TC and there are others actually work.

I am sure Tein make a 15k shock for their race teams too...

Thanks for plug Ben, only too happy to help.

Well this is them,

Not saying they are the best, but from what i understand they are the second best Teins you can get. They will eb revalved with new springs to suit my setup so they are not $15k but they are worth more then i want to spend

So talking dollars i think they are easily comparable to the 50mm DMS so will be interesting to see how they compare. Oh and my current RAs are effectively the same as the pictured RS only without the extra adjustability and remote reservoir

BUT , on topic. Go the GTSt!

This is Brisby - he's a complusive buyer of parts for that car. Only 5% ever actually end up on the car but he buys parts left, right and centre anyways. I think he had 11 different brake set-ups at one stage there! :)

Oh - and Sat night BBQ sounds good for me too. Will give you a buzz Sat arvo or something Benny to confirm it.

oh no it's super secret :) RE55S,

unfortinatully the video dosn't show the road condition at the end of the stage. Basicly from just after the chicane when it goes down hill. The road had been cold sealed like a week before the event, so there was bluemetal all over it.

just on cameras, my diy bullet cam and sd recorder arrived the other day, and i'm not sure which angle i want.

Why the change Troy? I thought you were really happy with the RA's?

..basically. Have always wanted to run a GTR rear end in my car as there is lots of slop in the diff, shafts/cvs etc. So the RS are for a GTR so i can do a new cradle with all fresh bits and then just offer it up to the underside of the car meaning its not in parts for too long. Anyone that has driven my car will know the knocks and slpo it has from its hard 190,000kms

Good luck with the event guys and Kel. I can only imagine how awesome the whole experience would be! :P

Guess that means you won't be wanting a *no thanks to Nissan Aus* sticker :D

Which has started me off again :bunny: .... have I ranted here yet about how pathetic it is that Nissan now has the best Tarmac Rallying car going around in Aus, yet instead of supporting some real racing for a change they've thrown their budget at putting an R35 safety car in front of a bunch of bogans?

/Kel ends rant :bunny:

I personally like to see a bit of in the car in the incar- I definitely think it gives a better sense of what it's really like to drive these stages.

Outside the car ends up looking a bit too cruisy to me if you don't get good sound to hear what the cars actually doing?

Despite that ending I love The Sideling. Though I reckon each time I've done it, it takes at least 10 minutes after the stage for my arse cheeks to unclench (sorry that was a big crude, but the truth :D )

Yeah I'm not going to upset Nissan just yet. They have been nice to me so far and I'm also trying to get them to give me a 370Z for Dutton NSW this year, and maybe do some more in the future so whilst I'm working on all of that I won't be shitting on them (but usually I'm first in line for a good shit!).

    • That was the first session so not a lot to take from the day. It was low 20s ambient and the coolant had got to 110 (and obviously had some pressure!) so that still needs to be addressed. I haven't downloaded the data yet but will. I had refilled the auto trans with Redline DT6 because it claimed the best viscosity I could find at 100o. It wasn't really long enough to get a good feel for that; while the trans got to 100o in the session it still wasn't shifting crisply as I hoped. I think I'll try a few more sessions before judging. No steering motor overheat but I'd hope not in only 1 session! But finally the suspension; it was night and day over the standard stuff and the car was a couple of seconds quicker on the same crappy tyres, which is a huge difference. I'll stick with that and get some sway bars and a mechanical diff sorted too and see how that all goes together
    • I guess it’s partially a compromise of how my car is used, wanting to be able to switch from drift to grip with track side on-car adjustment. Also partially with the way the knuckles are set there is more static camber but less dynamic camber gain.
    • OK, so update from the track day on Friday It was a classic "an unfortunate series of events'. There were a few cars around and when i checked my mirror coming out of the fish hook I notice some smoke from the rear of mine. Looked again and it was getting much worse, I figured I'd blown a turbo or something to got off it and pulled off the racing line. However.... since it is a left hairpin into a right kink, I was on the inside of the next corner. There was a car passing me on the left and a big drop off over the ripple strip on the right......and someone had knocked the witch's hat that was on the apex about 1m onto the track. So, between those 3, I decided to mow down the cone and not damage my car/the other car. Right choice, but surprising result.  The car decided the cone was a small pedestrian so it blew the rear bonnet hinges up to protect their head in the upcoming person to car impact....I didn't see that coming and like an airbag deployment it happened super fast. Straight into the pits from there, everything was driving fine but it became clear it was a coolant leak not smoke, it was billowing up onto the windscreen. Onto the trailer and home. I'll do a separate thread about the repair (once I work out what it is ), but the immediate problem was the bonnet wouldn't open because the front was pinched onto the front bar and would not release. Ultimately we unbolted the hinge from the bonnet, pulled it back a little and it released from the front OK. "There's your problem", the top radiator hose had popped off at the radiator.
    • Yeah that looks like great caster, but I'd suggest trying less front camber some time and seeing if it helps with braking without reducing mid corner speed too much
    • I ended up setting the rear 5mm higher than normal to give some clearance.  My plan is to run the least camber I can in the rear which I think with the extra width is going to need to be -1.75 to -2.00° just to get clearance.  Guards have been rolled and pulled as much as they can/I would be wanting to.  front has the Acostal knuckle with the KPI change and the drop etc. So should be okay with the existing settings I have run with AR1s etc Front: Toe total -2mm(1mm out each side) Caster +7.5° Camber -3.8° Ackerman +15°
