Suburbs in Melbourne's north and north-east have reportedly been shaken by an earthquake.

The United States Geological Survey reported on its website the tremor was a magnitude 4.7 quake, about 96 kilometres from Melbourne.

Geoscience Australia says the tremor was located north of Korumburra.

There have been no reports of injury and police are urging people not to call 000 unless they have been injured or suffered property damage.

James Sandman of Drouin, in Victoria's east, was watching TV when the tremor struck.

"We were just sitting down watching the TV and then the whole house absolutely shook," he said.

"The foundations shook, the walls moved, they wobbled, and myself and my wife just looked at each other and we were both then looked at the exits wondering 'do we need to get out?'"

Reports to ABC News Online say the suburbs of Frankston, Knoxfield, Lang Lang, Caulfield North and Yarra Junction have felt tremors.

"We just felt an earth tremor in Yarra Junction Victoria at 8.56pm (AEDT)," one reader said.

"It seemed to travel from west to east."

"We are in Gippsland in Krowera, and the earth tremor sounded like an explosion here," another reader said.

"[it] felt like something very big had hit the house. Our power also went out for about eight to 10 minutes."

A spokeswoman for Victoria Police also said there had been an earth tremor but said there were no reports of any damage immediately after the incident.

Further information and comment is being sought from Geoscience Australia, which monitors earthquake activity.

    • If your tuner can't make the car idle like factory, I'd get a new tuner. These injectors are fantastic and I'd have very serious concerns about a tuners skill set if they couldn't get them to idle well.
    • It's highly likely you will find something. Alternatively, a quick design and order online from chaina and you'll have a perfect solution
    • Idle Lambda target is off by .4 but I reckon the VE table is not correct. If my tuner has no issue using these injectors I will keep them, they are good quality after all
    • I already have an Apexi. Just wondering if it is worth putting in something new since the Apexi is likely well over 10 years old, if not 15. I know the injectors work but they already run at less than rated fuel pressure to make them work properly and idle is basically 1% duty cycle or less. Could be better
    • Nice, I would never have thought in that direction. The actual motor is a cylinder....I wonder if there are any cylindrical heat sinks with the right ID  (and if there is clearance to other components). I think adding airflow is still a thing as well....will check it all out next time it is in the air. Wish I had a hoist...
