after weeks of waiting and driving my sisters stupid lancer, i got my car back!!!

$6k worth of repairs all up. got my front bar fixed which was good and it all looks pretty sweet now.

i am looking for a series 2 r33 grill if anyone has one. i bought one but it only fits series 1.

and to top it all off, the woman i had the accident with if trying to sue me coz she hasnt got the money for her car yet!!!! she reckons she talked to my insurance company and they said i never made a claim! and she wants me to fork over the money for her repairs. (bad enough i had to pay for mine)

she asked me repeatedly for a claim number so she could get her car assessed weeks ago and i did that and never heard from her until last week. her cars damages are aroun $6.5k, and i sure as hell aint giving her the money.

i spoke to my insurance company and gave them my claim number (which she says i never got), and they said that i paid my excess and everything should be sweet. they reckon shes just impatient coz i paid the excess last week and she hasnt received the cheque yet.

anyway, the insurance comp is gonna handle it apparently. stupid b***h.

if anyones interested, im selling my motorbike to pay for the damages. its a 2002 honda xr250 road/trail.

sorry for the long rant, had to get it off my chest.

She has to make a claim against *your* insurance, you don't have to make a claim for her to your insurance. Just ignore the other woman, its not really up to you to sort out if your insurance is covering her claim.

Insurance companies are really really slack when it comes to fixing your car when it is somebody else's fault.

In my old car, somebody hit it. Took me 6 months of driving it around all banged up till their insurance gave me the go ahead to get it fixed!

Insurance is the biggest load of shit in the world if you ask me :(

I was driving around a car that was owned by the manufacturer.. wont go into detail as to what car it was or why i had it... but i crashed it on glenferrie road coming back from Room yonks ago. A guy did a U turn in front of me and wrote of both cars.

He had no insurance and the police at the time deemed it to be my fault (because they lost witness statements and beleived his lies).

In the mean time i just gave the car back and let them deal with the problem, but being a major comany, the didnt care, put it out the back and didnt file the insurance claim til 11month later..... the whole time with this dudes lawyers on my back....

after all that cleared the decision was finally made it was his fault so it was all good in the end.

Bascially all u can do is try to screen your phone calls (HE was calling more than 10times a day at one stage) and try and get some sleep... eventually it all blows over ... in my case it took farken ages

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
