Annoying thing is I've desoldered heaps of ICs before just using my soldering iron and a solder sucker... this one's just being a right prick for some reason.

I too, have desoldered many before but I can tell you now, if you sit there with the solder iron on it for too long, whe nyou go to lift it, you will pull the track up with it. The ONLY way you should do it is with a heat gun or cut the pins, then manually extract each one with a bit of heat from the solder iron and a pair of pliers. I hope it's not too late

Yeah I know. I don't think that will happen but I did get a little bit drunk and then a little bit angry...

If I have f*cked any of it a little circuit repair shouldnt be a problem. Unless the PCB is multilayer, which I don't think it is? (Two sided is OK, just as long as there are no middle layers)

Fark! Keen! It'd probably take me 6!

Would take me all weekend. Guaranteed. There might only be 3.5 hours work in that, but it would take all weekend to get done :P.

Hopefully I'll be able to save it! haha

They are a double sided non multi-layer board. I already had to make a repair on one of the fine tracks, not sure if you saw it. If you can get it to me before Thursday, I can get it back to you on Thursday. If not, it would be Sunday at the earliest as I'm in Melb for TopGear Live on Sat.

Let me know ;-)

Big boy

Woohoo! Got the card in the mail for my turzbro. Will have it in my hands

Hopefully I'll be able to save it! haha

I have faith

Short of driving out to you right now (and I really CBF) thursday will be the earliest I can get it to you.

Sunday would be grand, but if you can't manage it no big deal :).

You know that TGL came to brisbane right? You didn't need to go to melbourne to see it :P

Big boy

Thanks Babe.

Today was international women's day. I didn't get given a single sandwich! What the hell did we give them their own day for if they can't even thank us for it with sandwiches?!

lol

Morning Mangs,

^^^Forgot to finish that sentance, awesome. Still makes for a good 'thats what she said'.

WHat I meant to say is I will have it in my hands this afternoon :)

Had a GG of cricket last night, Made 20* off 10 balls, and my 2 overs were 3/-2. We took full points for the game but the team above us also won, so we didn't make the finals :(. I think they are going to run a second set of finals though for all the teams that didn't make the real ones...

Anyone know what's involved in switching from 3 to Telstra when my contract expires (soon :)) and keeping my current number?

Go into a Fone Zone, not a Telstra shop.

Hand them the phone and say make it work on Telstra networks

Also going to visit Dan today for a service.

That's what she said.

Why Fone Zone over Telstra shop?

My phone won't work on telstra network :(, I'll need a new phone.

Oh and I believe it's filling day today. Can only see 1/10th of my desk.

Sucks to be you.

Anyone know what's involved in switching from 3 to Telstra when my contract expires (soon :)) and keeping my current number?

Walk into a Telstra Shop.

"Hi, I'm currently a customer with 3 and I'm sick of their shitty service. I want to switch carrier to you guys but keep my current number, what can you do for me?"

Watch them fall over themselves trying to get you to switch.

I did this when the iPhone 4 came out. I had been a business customer with Optus for 7 years and they told me it would be a two month wait for the iPhone as my contract had 6 months to go at that point. I walked into Telstra and they had a phone in my hand, doubled the data allowance for the plan at no cost, paid my early exit fee from Optus and paid the transfer fee for the number and had it all done in less than 30 minutes. Two month waiting because of contract reasons is not how you treat a customer who has been with you for 7 years. My entire family pulled their contracts and went to Telstra as well for more or less the same reasons with similar results.

Sounds good. Do I have to do anything with 3 then to cancel my service or will the telstra mugs handle it all?

Keen for double data allowance :)

    • Per Mark Roberts of Sonictune: Mark Robert Author At this time, no. No ETA either 2016-17 models. You will be able to purchase and install a 2018.5+ TCU though   TCU purchasing and pricing info! As we near the release of TCU tuning, I am going to answer some questions I get asked often.   What do I need for TCU tuning? At this time, you will need a 2018.5+ TCU to be able to tune. If you have a 2016-to early 2018, you will need to replace your TCU with the newer version. One good way to know if your TCU is good is if you have auto upshift in manual mode in 1st gear around 6500 rpms. If your manual 1st gear goes to 7k rpm and will hit the rev limiter unless you shift, you have the older TCU.   Why do I need to buy another ecu license/phone flash if I already have it on my ECU tune? The TCU is its own computer module. It is completely separate from the ECU. Because of this, you will be required to purchase a TCU license and, if your tuner has it, the phone flash license required to tune it via phone/bluetooth.   Do I need TCU tuning? TCU tuning is NOT required. However, the faster your setup, the more it will assist in track and dragy time consistency.   If I’m ECU tuned by (tuner A) can I get my TCU tuned by (Tuner ? Yes, since it’s a different module and a completely separate flash, you can have two different tuners. However, it is highly recommend that you have both tuned by the same tuner. For me, my TCU tuning will directly complement my ECU tuning style and features and running my ECU and another TCU or vice versa MIGHT cause some issues. At this time and for the foreseeable future, I will only be tuning my current ECU tuned customers TCUs.     I have a SYVECS AWD controller. Do I still need it? Yes! The AWD controllers main job is to control your AWD system. However, with TCU tuning, you will no longer need the auto-shift function as that will be done through the TCU. The AWD controller will still be very beneficial for racers looking to maximize traction on the launch.     Shift schedule changes: holding gears longer at lower pedal input as well as max shift rpm changes. Please note, the new ECU race rom coming out will address 90% of the shitty drivability issues these cars have through custom maps from myself and Racebox—as well as others I am sure.   Increase shift speeds: as seen in the videos I’ve been posting, the TCU shifts much faster once tuned.   Increased shift pressures: as also seen in the videos, much firmer full throttle shifts.

    • The fancy pants red shock tower brace is finally incoming from MX5 Mania, getting it shipped from 'Merica has been a long and problematic process, and GWR, the 'Merican supplier will not ship directly to consumers outside of the US, Mania basically had to order a heap of them, the colour choice was silver, or red, and we all know anything red adds 5 killerwasps of dynotorques..... Whilst it does fit over a 2.5, and I've seen a few photos and videos of it being installed and fitting, google also says it might get real close to the FAB9 intake front runner, people in the US says it does fit with the FAB9 intake, except for one person who said it slightly touched.......so there is that.....LOL..... As it seems that I am the first in AU to have this combination of parts there's no local knowledge about fitment, so I'm just a willing guinea pig in this endeavour, I'll cross my fingers and toes and hope for the best In other news, I ordered stuff from China  on the same day I ordered the 23° silicone bend from Victoria, the stuff from China arrived a day ago, the 23° silicone bend is still travelling around Australia thanks to Australia Post, and "may" be here next week
    • Very good news...I contacted Racebox about it last night. My car is a 2016 so remains to be seen if it is compatible, requires a TCU swap, or is impossible.
    • What ECU are you running? This is probably the biggest question. If it's a PowerFC, I'd probably change the ECU and get something newer that will handle the injectors in a nicer way.
