Actually what else is there that is 'good' that is a similar style to a swift, must be hatchback so the seats can be folded down so all of Annas make up stuff can fit must be at least a little bit fun, Ie no carollas.

The new K13 Micras are awesome :D

Wow, exchange synch actually works well on this phone. Stoked.

Golf R32. Or whatever they're selling instead of them these days...

New Golf R that replaced that is around 50k-60k >_<

So 6 hours of meetings today, must be close to a record for me lol.

Agree on all the things re leasing. There isn't any tax breaks unless your on some decent coinage. Most of the managers in work all have lease cars. And they're all Subarus...weird.

too much money for a car that is really only for Anna to run her work stuff around in and make the occasional trip somwhere when I dont feel like driving the GTR. would be nice though!

Pick a car to get you from point A to B with the best holding value (bit of research there but Toyota seems likely) within the life of the lease should be good. I'll need to know more about FBT to make a more judgemental comment though.

I still stand by the fact that, (apart from the headlights) the new micras are some of the best looking cars being sold today (at least, japanese cars)

That's such a boring safe way to buy cars

Edited for truth.

I'm so sick of the laser, but hell, it gets me around!

yeah they actually do look pretty good!

yeah considered both of those, they seem pretty dear for what they are though, whats a polo GTI cost?

Polo's are from $18k brand new.. Not sure on GTI.

A friend has a TDI one with DSG, it's a little loaded pocket rocket. More for your money than a Swift IMHO

+1 on the micra. The old 1 feels thin and light (doesnt feel very safe in 1) but the new one looks heavier but I've never driven the new one though.

Wait for the Scirocco!

what does the TDI cost? They are reasonably fast, I had some joker in one race me the other day, it went ok! Not good enough mind you :D but it wasnt bad.

Tbe K12 had the weird headlights. The K13 (this years one) looks even better!

Yeah, you're right. And right. If I was buying a small car that'd be what i'd get.

That being said, for the a fraction of same price as a new micra you could pick up something like an old 4 banger second gen Magna running LPG. 4 cylinders so rego isn't more expensive, gets a similar cost equivlant milage and the bloody cars are indestructable (300000k's? nothing). Not to mention the extra space (and they're good for spinning out at lakeside).

If you wan't an A to B car and don't need it to make a social statement or something, you can do soooo much better than buying brand new.

edit: for reference. new micra is ~20K full cost. Couldn't find any older ones, but 2003 ish year model Magna's with the 3.5L 6cyl engine, dual fuel, go for about 8K plus on roads. You really don't get twice the car in the micra..

I dont think you can lease a 2003 Magna dude.

Yeah most probably. I would only lease a car if your on decent coin and need the tax breaks/ want something nice to drive around in. Not much point in getting a lease on a 20k car imo. New or newish cars in that price bracket tend to be buckets of pus that are aimed at 17yo girls or young families etc. I'd rather spend the money on an import and at least have something that is enjoyable to drive.

I'd be happy with one of these cheers.gif

Dan,

Did a red 430 come and visit your work today? So.Much.Win

I think the novated lease thing probably works out better for companies who offer employees a car as a package, then they can keep the maintenance costs etc all in the one price. Apart from the tax benefits I don't see any point in it for myself. I'd rather do the loan thing, although I generally try and save half the value of the car and get the other on a loan, sort of works out for me anyway.

FG F6's are going pretty cheap these days :D

theres alot of red 430's at work at the moment, you talking about the one with the black rims? i was home by 12 today

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
