Steve,

Sorry should have said that the $900 was for cast ones, without rings. I am looking for a forged set as close to $900 as possible, more importantly is getting the sooner rather than cheaper because the insurance co. is paying.

Butters,

The engine was damaged in the accident as the timing belt was cut and valves bounced off the top of pistons. The dodgy insurance company wanted to just replace one piston and leave it at that. I explained to them that the other pistons must have also recieved damage and addtional stress since the engine was under load and doing several thou rpm. I am insisting they also replace the camshafts and valves since the forced of contact on the piston is transfered through to the cam lobe. I want nothing less than a proper engine rebuild and thats just what I am getting.

While I think of it whats the damage on a set of mild camshafts to suit & where do you get them from?

$900? I doubt you'll get them for that, even at trade price, unless there made in Hong Kong;)

Nah true that.

Rocket industries flog Arias for about $1280ex , on low volume purchases (like just one set) pricing is alot keener if you setup an account or buy regularly. They come with rings and pins as well though. Have to be the best forged piston spec I've seen and they are the cheapest.

thats crap eh.

Damn insurance companies.

Friend of mine is going through simular thing. Her water pumped died. which caused the engine to over heat and kill the heads.

The waranty is only covering the water pump replacement. She has to fork $$$ for the heads to be done.

They claim the only cover the faulty part. Claim if she had stopped it straight away, no damage would have been done.

I reckon thats pretty rough.

INSURANCE companies are maggots

I fought tooth and nail with my assessor, hi manager, etc. I ended up going to the secutary of complaints.. and guess what he was a tosser as well.

So in the end you cant win.

    • Hi. Hoping someone can maybe tell me if the same R34 cable works on R33 coup? Or tell me how I can fix mine. It broke the same way 1" away from the eye. Blessing
    • Robertson was a Canadian inventor, and it absolutely reigns supreme here. 95% of our screws are Roberston. It's literally the only option you can buy off store shelves. What would it have lost out too? I believe it's also very popular in the US.  My reference to imperial was pointed to both NPT and BSP.
    • No. BSP lost to the cultural/technical imperialism of living next to Trumpistan. Face it, Robertson screws were better and still pretty much lost out to the yank stuff. The Europeans hate the Brits and they don't use NPT. NPT is just as "imperial" as BSP is, being based on those useless inch thingos. Just done differently.
    • I live in Quebec. Our license plate slogan is "Je me souviens" Translated is "We will remember" as a reminder to when England conquered us and that we must never forget what they did. Long story short, BSP is unheard of here due to being an English design. I'm surprised our nazi anti english government office the OQLF hasn't kicked in my door yet just talking about it, yet alone imperial anything.
