Hey all, I bought some HKS 264 cams (2nd hand) for my rb25det and they arrived today. Now they came in their box's with original instructions etc. I have looked over both cams ten times and I cant find a HKS stamp ANYWHERE. This to me seems wierd for such a big branded camshaft to have nothing written on it. One camshaft has U2 stamped on it one has U3. Can anyone tell me if they had the same camshafts or how to tell if they are indeed aftermarked HKS cams??

Jamie

Oh really?? Ive seen some marked hks, and was just having a read of different forums of people with my same concern. As my stock camshafts are still in the car I have nothing to compare them with.... anyone know how im going to tell?

Call the dude and ask him, atleast the HKS ones have markings so you know, with the Tomei ones they dont have shit, so you put them in hoping you have the right ones.

Here's a question for you, on the stock camhafts, near the cam gears, you can put a spanner on it. On the HKS ones you can do the same thing half way down, the stock ones have nothing. Do yours have these?

Nope mine have nothing like that...its at the end where the cam gear is....and the part of the shaft in between the lobes (where your hks is printed) is concaved on one side all the way down....whereas yours looks solid

The HKS cams I had did not have HKS stamped on them and now my TOMEI cams also don;t have any branding stamped on them.

Ahhhh you serious? Did they have the concaved bit between the lobes?? (like in my pic) What car were they for??

Ive just searched two different forums and they both said Genuine HKS cams will have HKS stamped on them. Who can confirm this? Im pretty sure theyd have something on them being such a massive Brand. One camshaft should say HKS and one should say 264 apparently.

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
