hey guys

just got home.

nice to catch with most of you guys.

i really enjoyed saturday! the carshow was really good! some beautfully preped z's and dattos , fell in love with 1200 ute

had a good night drinking(slept in the trailer at the track) and catching up with stuart saturday night too .

but the fun police were a bit out of control,

mark was told no more racing as well(warned), i dont care who they are(john or otherwise) i would like to see them try and not turn tyres in the r34 and keep it straight maybe they should look at the laptimes too.

sprints were fun today but packed up when it started raining. the r35 was getting serious brake knock off today so need to fix by tuesday!!

Great day. Poor showing by the skyline community tho.

Wasn't as bad as the Datsun fairlady's.

There's about 30 active and road registered ones in QLD, yet the only ones in the show and shine were Jasons Leighs and a couple who'd come up from Victoria. (props to them for making the 1400km journey up to rainy warick in a sporty!)

Plus my dad's parked over by the police station, and another parked somewhere nearby. We came down for a day trip to look, show was in full swing by the time we got here so we didn't try and sneak in!

Thats it Russ.

Good on ya mate, sorry to hear they had a word with Mark too. that sucks hard. :(

X2.... these guys race on the ragged edge. maybe the old skool boiz havnt seen it before.

It leaves a shitty taste in my mouth that some Klutz can not or has not seen the time attack brigade in action before.

Their safety record is up there with the best and so are their skills.

The cars are immaculately prepared and race ready.

The organisers werent afraid to ask plenty for the privelage of doing 3 lap sprint sessions either. Maybe they only want the conservative old school brigade involved in their parade.

Well Tuff buns. The skyline brigade showed you what hardcore nissans are capable of. Get used to it or take your marbles and play by yourself.

Blow me stupid boyz, If you had such a problem on the day take it up with the officials, plead ur case with the evidance backing up your side of the story. I know I can be too but this is realy childish. I had serious issues with the timing and took my datra from my AIM lap timing up to the said officials. they looked and aggreed that the timing was off but it so be it. Hard as it was for me to accept it, my official time stayed as was, end of story. If you have a problem MAN THE HELL UP, see head official, get a verdict and live with it. That's life.

With that in mind, perhaps if you guys are so annoyed with the event.... organize ur own event and run it your way.

im in Brisbane for a few weeks...missed this event. Probably not much there to tickle my tail anyway. Would have been good to see Mick and Russ though.

Easy Stu, they're just venting some frustration over what they took as excessive policing from the officials.

I think everyone had a good day, no need to argue about the fact that some people have different views and ideas of racing. If everyone was the same it'd be f**king boring!!

Sorry Stu, its just the wrong angle mate.

My video is evidence of no apparant drifting, no clutch kicking nothing, the video says it all. I took it up with the officials and was told to shut up and stop 'drifting' or go home. The officials were wrong.

I'm told they thought my car is a purpose built drift car. its just laughable mate. They belong in the 70s.

I have no issue anymore, just upsept I had no opportunity to improve on my times. - On that does anyone know the standings...?

Morgan Park is a great track - saw the youtube footage awesome - looks like typical big hp gtr corner exits!!

I have never seen a purpose built gtr drift car lol.

The only childish outburst in this thread so far has been the post above.

"Blow me stupid boyz"?? :(:D

There was obviously no drifting happening in the posted video. If you can't agree with the fact that officials seem to have gotten it wrong (for whatever reason), then your opinion is clearly biased by your historical respect for the officials (and so be it)...

Video evidence shows that wrxkilla had a valid complaint, which it sounds like he took to the officials, but was met with a dismissive wave.

Great meet. Some great cars and good people. Some awesome machinery.

I had fun, ended up leaving broken, but hey, thats racing. :D Only had one flying session on Sunday, shame... :(

Message to the old fart in the flag tower at the bridge. If you think I was drifting, you have obviously never turned on the t.v and watched some motorsport. It's called power oversteer, and I'm pretty sure every car in class was doing the same. Go back to your nissan cube and polish the exhaust tip.

I'll upload some vid to youtube that shows the back stepping out a little bit after the bridge and me feathering the throttle. Funny form of drifting! I do kind of like to go fast, not sideways, sorry the car isnt set up well and I cant drive for sh1t, but hey, I must be a professional drifter!

Thanks to Brad to borrowing me some silicon and thanks to the boys for helping push up the trailer. ;)

Ps Mark n Russ machine is a MONSTER!!!! :)

AAWWW C.mon be fair, the old fart at flag point under the bridge was non other than Jon Siddens, past class winner at Targa Tasmania, and winner of just about anything he can run his very neat quick Zed car in, Siddo knows a little about power oversteer, but there was a little bit too much, but, hey, we have to respect the rules that the track owner sets in place for Morgan Park, and we were all told in definate terms that there was to be no drifting.

The organisers did have a quiet word to Brad, Russell, and Mark, and they were quite happy to go along with the rules as set.

but, hey, didn't we all have a heap of fun!!!

Mike your car presented really nicely and it is a credit to you and would have to be one of the good ones getting around.

quote that for the truth, big up for Mark Berry in the 34, but that thing sure had more traction loss than me! :D

phenominal car, cnad its great to watch sliding around the place. :(

Yep traction loss was phenomanal, especially in a straight line exiting turn 12 and onto the main straight, you could fair hear the rubber being torn off the tyres, we were standing up in the timing control tower at start/finish line, Very neat clean driving was exhibited by everyone, and everyone drove safely.

Pity about the poor little Datsun 1200 sedan all the way from Victoria, exiting Siberia, he over corrected, and lost it off track and put it on its lid, driver OK, 1200 GGOOORRRNNN.

Here's my laps fellas.

sorry, I just dont see any effort at all that comes any snippet close to drifting...

I dont profess to be some gun driver, but as you can hear, i sure as hell dont stick on the lock and plant the throttle.

Sorry to be harping on, but my warning was pretty stern, and I beleive unwarranted.

all fun, but trenchcoat wearing officials need an honest reality check!

Cheers

Mick

Yep, video confirms it, you were def pushing the limits hence the little talk from the Stewards, and the report from the flag marshall, You would have def heard at driver breifing, that any drifting would result in immediate exclusion from the event, They didn't exclude you, you were just spoken to and it was explained that the track owner does not want drifting.

Were you drifting? No, but on viewing, you were certainly promoting a tailhappy attitude. We have to respect and abide by the track rules, otherwise, the event organisers will never be allowed to put something like this on again. Is that what the general motorspoting fraternity want?

I'd say no, lets keep Morgan Park available to all motorsport enthusiasts.

Do you guys want an event like this to occur agian?

Lets have some feedback!

Thanks for your understanding.

Was a great event!!!!

100% love to see the same next year.

sounds like you answered it yourself. If they had of said "if your back slides even a little bit on corner exits we will give you a warning then kick you out" then they had a reason to speak with mike/mark/russ. As it was, these guys were just trying to get around the circuit as quickly as they could. I am sure they dont want the back sliding any more than you do as its wasted 100th's but we are talking about 500-700hp GTR's not 200hp dattos. Getting that many ponies on the deck aint always that easy.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHUChUiw7v4 <-- That is drifting. What the boys were doing on sunday was not.

On the up side, the track looked absolutely brilliant and I can't wait to get my car out to a day there. Would love to see more events out at morgan park.

Team UAS got back 3am this morning. I received a phone call last night in transit to say we came 2nd outright, not sure how. Rediculous Mark being given the cold shoulder treatment, simply trying to tame the beast.

Big thanks to Noddy for storing The SLot Car in his shed over the weekend, and filling us in on the track. Your car and you steering it is very impressive for few mods it has. Best lap I did was 1 min 9.48. Tracky and fun track.

Good to catch up with everyone and meet WRX Killer, Brad Botcher and see his GTR which sounded strong down the straight, with BOV going off between short changes with sequential box.

The Dat Nissan Nats are every two years and I think the next one is Adelaide.

Morgan Park is awesome. The place certainly is fantastic.

any pics of the modern nissans anyone?

Well done John. What was your total 3 lap time that netted you 2nd?

Michael

yep great event for sure!

i only got two sessions for time ( as first session had an issue with a boost hose)

first full 3 laps were 3.37 i think, my next session wouldnt have beat that as it was raining. (damn it)

i love that track!

    • sold listed as a Tomei LSD 1.5 Way For 1998+ Nissan Skyline ER34 25GT RB25DE w/Open R200 https://www.ebay.com/itm/174006114594?campid=5338967980&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&toolid=10050&customid=&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&loc_physical_ms=108689&loc_interest_ms=&campid=5338967980&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&toolid=10050&customid=71883f2ccc571356e0a757bc7adfdde2&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&loc_physical_ms=108689&loc_interest_ms= it went in like butter all gears, alignment, back lash etc, rotation and clearances correct, and if rolling all rotates smooth and free when coasting down road , clutch in or out over 10 mph smooth... its the binding, clunking and jerking from a stop that is most concerning, also seems like its going to tear the tires off in 10 miles of normal road driving.
    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
