Hi guys.

Just came here looking for some decent suggestions on P-Plate legal cars. I want something that looks nice and has a bit of grunt too for around the $10k mark. I've been looking at N/A R32's and new model Preludes, but I'm really unsure.

Thanks guys.

hey mate my second car when i was 18 was an n/a 32 with a gtr front i sold it 2 years ago and to date was the cleanest n/a getting around. Went hard beating standard 5lts and others in that range. if you can find 1 thats clean GET IT!!!!! and they sound awsome.

Series 4 / 5 non turbo RX7s, they will beat all on your list but then again, its a rotary, so make sure you know how to maintain it. or at least know a mechanic that is not a douche

other options

E36 beemas, low performance but if u can find the 2L, its be alright.

EG or EK (maybe) civics, probably hard to get but get an aussie delivered version and it does alright. if your shifty you can swap over suspension / exhaust / motor etc and no one will know. type r bits anyone???? HELLO BITS

my fave sleepers, RX or GX imprezas. go ok and have THE SAME awd system as a WRX. fix it for handling, and buy an EJ or newer motor after P's!!!

heaps of rare personal imports if you can find em too

I'm not exactly sure on this but isn't insuring a skyline costly?

If you are buying a car with reasoning, then Corolla or Camry. Reliable & low maintenance cost = important aspect for a 1st car.

On the other hand, if you are buying it on impulse, any of the sporty ones the others have already suggested are good.

Needless to say, I didn't buy my car (also 1st car) with my head :)

sure is lol, when i had my r33 gts, it woulda cost me $3000 for full comp, $650 for 3rd party fire+thief, but i was 18 then, and only just car will insure you.

but now, with just car, you can choose how much excess you wanna pay. if you choose like $500, your premium would be about $3000 still for full comp, but if you choose $1600, then your premium would be $1500.

    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
    • Totally equivalent. Stock often goes from the comp cover because that's where the actuator is also installed and the factory needs 2" of hose to make the connection - and it comes as a pre-assembled unit. They totally have a boost reference from somewhere between the turbo and the throttle(s). Oh, jeez. Just do it in M12 then. We don't actually care that much. I would expect any such AN converter fitting to rely on an o-ring or some other seal onto a flat surface under the flange of the hex**, because bolt threads are no intended to provide a pressure seal. unlike..... pipe threads. **which also requires a suitably flat and smooth surface on the turbo's boss to provide the seal.
