I found this on ebay, Link

IMO, you can add an RB26, and even an Autech kit (which this one doesn't have) but that still doesn't make it an Autech Stagea. its along the same lines as putting an RB26 and a GTR kit on a GTST and passing it off as a GTR, its wrong.

also, i didn't think you could comply a car that has had an engine conversion :D

oh that looks neat. very sleeperish ....

but yeah, chasis modifications for inlet pipe would be a pain to pass over here with the AIR BAGS cumple zone :S

and might of listed it as AUTECH, with that cheap price it catches peoples attention ... got yours right ? now your advertising for him. i think his sneaky plan worked

not exactly what i was getting at but you have a point. lol

I am pretty sure Autech stagea starts off as a standard RS4 Rb25det and gets replaced by a rb26 in the autech factory.

Need someone to check their genuine autech and have a look at the engine plate tag. I think it is still listed as a RB25det

I have only ever looked at one genuine autech engine bay and it had a hole hacked thru the chassis for the intercooler pipe.

Did not look very "factory"

I might be wrong.

AFAIK, they start off as a standard shell, but have structural changes made before assembly. I seem to recall seeing something on an Autech brochure showing extra reinforcing around the C pillar, not to mention bolt-on braces under the floor. The marketing hype has had the desired effect here, that's for sure.

My Autech had no extra bracing around the "C" pillar, i was under the impression there was something there to but nothing. All the bracing under the floor bolts striaght up to a standard RS4.

The holes for the intercooler piping on mine had been done with a hole saw and a drill, nothing to rough about it. We just did the same with the swap. There was alot of mods to the panel under the rad support that i could see, little trimming and enlarging of holes, also the ends of the chassis rail are trimmed back for the blow off valve return pipe.

None of it looked "aftermarket" was all done like factory.

And yes all autech's are plated as a RB25.

So when you run your Autech Vin number thru Fast, does it call up a Rb26 or Rb25?

Also it makes me laugh everyone is concerned about cutting a hole thru the inner guard for aftermarket FMIC when a ADR approved and complianced autech is done the same way, ie an after thought. Where as a factory built and design GTR has a reinforced extra peice of metal around the hole.

When you fast the autech vin its comes up with a little thing saying its an autech listed vehicle (this allways confuses the nissan parts person) and yeah lists RB26.

The autech's are the same as GTR's to where it goes thru the guard in the way that the piping dosnt just pass thru, there is a part that actually bolts in place, a hard pipe, so this will add some strength to that area.

Geez, I'd even be nervous with a legitimate one if I was pulled up by the boys in blue and they challenged the build plate-vs-fitment...

I've always wondered 'how' some of the modified cars get through - you know, high mount T88's etc...

what makes you say that Hugh?

Well it appears to have black face dials and I am under the impression S2 have white face. Correct???

Also there does not appear to be a pic of the rear end. And I wonder why??????

Looks sus, sounds sus and FEELS sus.

Also, I cant see too clearly but does it have RB26 on the timing belt cover????

this is correct... my autechs plate had it listed as an RB25DET.

Autech is not nissan - they purchase the vehicles before making the modifications, including paint. This is why the only way you could get a Series one in manual, or in black, was to buy an autech.

Technically all autechs are Nissan Stageas with a lot of 'genuine aftermarket' parts. Intercooler piping hole on mine was definitely a factory cut job.

Series 2 autechs have white faced dials, series ones have black, and even have the window in the centre for the automatic gear indicator.

He's not trying to pass it off as an autech... 'this one has been fitted with the RB26DETT AS PER THE AUTECH...'

He's just got autech in the topic title to get hits from people who are looking for autechs.

Obviously the car is not one...

to me it look like it has white faced dials, also the seats are series 2 seats. i know you could change them but why bother. i don't doubt its a series two. i think whoever picks it up is getting a good deal, cheap RB26 manual converted stagea. the only thing that would bother me is as some have said, and thats what trouble you may get into with the transport department, will it need to be mod plated anyway?

My S2 doesn't have white dials, but its a 25t X four, not an RS four

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
