A Cheap Courier To Transport A Cf Bonnet From Sydney To Melbourne...

Hi fellas,

I need your help. I just bought a CF bonnet off another forumer, now face the dilemma of having to get it picked up and transported down to Melbourne.

I have called around a few places, they are all charging heaps...I was told it would cost no more than $65.00 or less...I don't mind the wait, just want it to reach me safely in around 2-3 days.

Can you someone with a little experience please help...many thanks!

Nah mate, I was kinda expecting at least $60 and willing to pay up to say $90 for delivery...best quote so far was like $160 or something...still too much honestly...I've sent stuff up to people in Sydney before and they usually tell me that it would cost under $100...

You know of any good couriers?

I guess the issue is the size here. And of course you dont want it dropped, but incase it does it has to be very well packed. Also, the size is too big for a normal pallet which would not be doing you any favours at all.

I would be happy to do it for you for cost + a small fee for time, but the thing is even in a car thats great on fuel on cruise control (holden commodore on a highway has a great fuel econ), it will cost at least a full tank and a half to get there, same again to get back, plus a trailer to put it in as it wouldnt fit inside. So when you think about it that way $300 via a company with insurance is a decent price ;)

Ive delivered and sent stuff all around Australia, the best approach ive found is to google "freight services" or something similar, then make a list of 10 places that look like they can do the job. Then grab the phone, call every one of them and say the exact same thing "hi, ive need a quote on some freight please, syd to melb bla bla bla, ive got a list of 10 companies here that im going to call and get quotes from, at the end of that the lowest i will call back and finalize payment with. Im going to be a very easy customer. So with that said, whats your final price? Dont ask me to call back with quotes from the competition - cause you should know what they'll quote and im not here to waste time, i want to get this done. Or if you give me a good price now ill tell you my credit card number literally right now and we'll get this done right now". Using that basic approach ive managed to pay a LOT less than the first quote on every large item ive sent. Its pretty simple to do, and for the guy on the end of the phone its a chance for him to add a bit more to his monthly budget quickly.

One problem you'll have here as i said is size, when you call them up make sure you have the actual dimensions and weight of the box it will be delivered to their depot in. A lot of guys will give you low quotes so you call them back when you're ready to go ahead with it, then they increase their quotes and say "oh mate its just over a pallet, so thats extra"

Your complaining about $160 delivery for a large and obscure item thats easily damaged?

You're on crack - IMO thats totally reasonable once you factor in packaging, safe transport, insurance etc etc

$160 from Sydney to Melbourne is about what id expect for a hood. Large, bulky, horrible shape, heavy and sensitive. And i do ship somethings around australia so have some idea of what things cost.

Paid 1200 to ship 300computers to a university in sydney.... im located in sydney

i would have got a budget truck for like 200 and pocketed the 1000 lol

Hi all, I went to a group called transdirect.com.au and they are absolutely competitive...got quoted, $53.00....and will get transported next Wednesday...awesome!!!

Thanks to all, but honestly, for a hood, I cannot pay $160-$250...

I sent a CF bonnet (for a WRX) from Melbourne to Adelaide. When it arrived, the scoop was cracked in half, and just about all the corners had totally broken off. The receiver wasn't happy, the courier company denied all liability as they claimed they were a "common carrier" and that gave them a get-out-of-jail free card. I ended up being a fair bit out of pocket to refund the buyer.

The bonnet was packed fairly well, plenty of extra bubble wrap, but they probably loaded a few fridges on top because it was a nice big square carton :thumbsup: . Get insurance on your shipment.

      What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.

      Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.

      looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
