Hi guys,

Ive been busy grabing up goodies for my 33 GTS-t and will be looking at getting a tune within the next month or so. Is there anything that really stands out you would recomend getting upgraded before the tune that i havnt covered.

Car Stands at the moment

1996 R33 GTS-t Series 2, 91,xxxkms

3" Turbo Back exhaust

CoolingPro Return Flow FMIC

Bosch Intank Highflow fuelpump (unknown HP)

Apexi Power Intake Pod Filter with Alloy Intake pipe

600cc rb25det highflow injectors (yet to arrive)

Apexi Power FC (will be installed with tune)

GReddy Profec B spec II EBC (will be installed with tune)

Hypergear 450hp T3x Highflow Turbo (will be purchasing shortly and tune will be conducted after run in)

If there is anything you feel i shoudl take a look at before doing the une that woudl save some extra work later please let me know :) Thanks for any helps guys i appreciate your experience and expertise

I would say, cold airbox with cold air feed.. but seeing as you have the Blitz Style return flow, id say, stock airbox and a decent panel filter , rather than the Pod.

But thats just me.. and plenty of others agree.

This part about the turbo

"will be purchasing shortly and tune will be conducted after run in"

What run in are you talking about?

You have a fresh motor?

Nice mod list, turbo IMO lets it down a little.

Also find out 110% what the fuel pump is before you start, saves hassle later

Gotrice - Thanks yeh i have been trying to think of a way to make a cold air intake for the pod without cutting holes, so far jsut using standard "snorkle" to funel air to the pod may modify airbox later.

R31Nismob - No motor is not fresh but the turbo will be built and need a run in 1000k ish before the oil flows properly then gets a dyno tune.

I know the trubo lets it down a little but it seems great value for money and does save any hassle on upgrading manifolds and the such and helps keep things looking standardish haha

As long as i end up with over 200rwks il be satifyed for now

The airbox would probly have to be fairly well sealed for the snorkle to achieve alot. The way i see it, the stock box sucks air through it because it has no choice, but an unsealed cold airbox wouldnt be as efficient because its clearly going to suck air from the easiest location.

Oh, and listen to R31Nismoid.. he knows what hes on about!

Thanks guys im jsut going of what hypergear has informed me and they have been making these turbos for quite some time.

"As for the run in, The bearings needs to wear in about 1 thou to allow more oil flow"

hey dude, good mods, yes the turbo is decent bang for buck... im running one now at bout 15psi-17psi.... they have pretty good torque.... i got a little over 400 on status's dyno....

why not spend ~$200ish more and get a z32 to finish off... because i imagine in ur current setup the afm will be ur limiter.... get that and u'll be @ about 230rwkw... without it, probably 200ish because the afm wont be able to handle it....

gl with it....

Coilpacks huh thanks for the heads up, looks like i have a little more time up my sleeve, gogin to wait till hypergears bigger rear highflow turbo is in stock inless i can find a cheap r34 turbo op6 rear housing haha :D

Thanks agian guys keep them coming.

    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
