Hi everyone, I was wondering what sort of an ordeal it would be to change the springs/shocks in my 32 GT-R, considering I have basic tools and would be doing it off a jack? Do I require special tools of any kind to get the job done? I really want to have a go at doing this myself if possible since finances are tight, but I gotta say I do enjoy learning as I go with these types of things! Any help from you guys would be much appreciated :)

Yeah u can tackle it at home but make sure u use a jack & good quality stands.

You will also need a spring compressor of some type.

And when completed a wheel alignment.

Cheers & have fun.

Ah Thanks Yld-Chld. Will I need a spring compressor for the back? This is the end in need first of all... Also, I'll probably be getting the springs/shocks together, so if I am swapping the whole show in one piece, is the compressor still required? Hmmm, better start scouring ebay for one just in case!

read this and realise how few of these people used jack stands. I have seen plenty of jacks (bleed down) or someone come and twist the handle while fiddling with it and drop a car by accident. not good.

1.5 hours???

Did ya stop for lunch as well???

I recently had a small problem with my Bilstein Shocks, broke the top clean off while many miles from home.

Rang a couple of mates and within no time had sourced a set of coil-overs to go in my 32 GTR.

We had the old shocks out and coil-overs installed, in Hungry Jacks carpark at about 11pm in Hobart CBD.

Took us all of 25minutes I reckon.

Did the fronts at home the next day, by myself in less than an hour.

GTR struts would have to be by far the easiest struts I have ever replaced in my life.
