Hey guys,

Today I finally got the chance to test drive the Nissan 370z, after following it for so long since concept stage, was great to see it in person!

I think it looks good and the power figures looked decent on paper too.

I took it for a drive around Manly and found a nice little close street that had a straight and a dead end to allow me to test the power on the straight and the handling.

The moment I put my foot down, you could feel the torque and as it climbed past 5k RPM you could really feel it pull hard. The engine is loud, and I'm not exagerating, but sounds almost ferrari loud from inside the cabin. I was on third gear and shifted down to second and it made a sexy deep groan tone as the car slowed down. I can't explain it. The engine just sounded great! Obviously not as loud as a ferrari, never been in one, but my point is, that it'ss loud, but a nice rich engine sound.

After I drove it, I jumped in my GTR and did the exact same laps. My girlfriend and I still believe that the 370z pulled harder than the GTR, but the GTR feels slightly better when coming out of a corner and accelerating. Feels firmer on the ground.

I think the car is great, great looks, great interior and the engine noise was awesome

When they turned the car on, it was so quite I was immediately dissapointed. It wasnt until I let it open up a little bit that the real engine roar began!

Mate time to spend some more on the GTR :ninja:

Drop it off to you know who, and ask to swap the motor and turbo from that little yellow R32 in the corner. Then do the test again :)

I love the new 370z! Looks very edgy, has a beautiful sounding engine, and they finally fixed the interior in it unlike the 350z's shit interior!

Can't wait to drive one!

My 370z test drive is booked for this weekend.

Can't say I've driven a 35 in anger, but I have driven one (or two even!), so looking forward to seeing the differences.

After I drove it, I jumped in my GTR and did the exact same laps. My girlfriend and I still believe that the 370z pulled harder than the GTR

You down a cylinder or sumthing?

I have driven a 350z and while the power was linear and it pulled quite strongly it could not pull as hard as a GTR. The 370z has little power/torque increase over the 350z so I can't see how it could be that fast.

Also I prefer the 350's design, the 370 looks more like a girls car with the swoops etc in the design, I wish they made it look aggresive with more angular lines. Guess thats why I like the new GTR's design, haha.

    • Before I get to the test day, just to finish off the android head unit. This is a demo from car start up....the standard/host system takes a few seconds to boot (same as all v37) but Android comes up quickly. In this vid I'm using the delivered launcher but have set the default to Agami since which is easier to navigate when if use primarily 5 apps. You can see the host system still takes over when required eg putting it in reverse, and you can switch between Android and not by holding the back button 3 sec. It is pretty responsive (fast) but you can see I had to press harder than expected a couple of times.  I still have the phone connected to the stock system, and that also seamlessly takes over Android music playing. v37-android-demo.mp4 The bigger reason that I put this in though is so that I can use Ecutek directly on the head unit. That gives me a dash with logging (up to 20MB only), high and low value warnings on any parameter etc etc. I've run a USB cable from the Ecutek OBD dongle to a USB input on the unit, easy. v37-ecutek-demo.mp4   The unit did freeze on the launcher the other day, I think Agami was trying to verify the license when it didn't have a data connection...will monitor and report back if there are any other problems but so far I'm very happy with the upgrade.
    • Nah that is just crappy GPS mapping, I did have a small excursion (cold tyres, damp track, surprise!), will post up that when I get a chance.
    • So 10/10 times that code is coil packs? I mean if that's the case ill drop the $400USD or so to replace them. I didn't know these cars threw codes before the issue became an issue.
