Sigh. My "not all p platers are idiot drivers" campaign is going horribly. thanks mate.

Hay guys i would not call myself a crap diver nor a good 1, i did pass my manual P's with ease..

Got another question for u guys what would happen if i was caught by the police driving a high powered vechile apart for the than the fine and 3 demerit points ? One of my mates said that they would take my lisence straight away ? would they ?

thanks

Are you still considering doing it?

Holy shit some people just dont take a hint.

DONT DO IT!

Click the link in my post above, that was someone's first drive of a GTR aswel. Got enough cash to cover something like that?

To answer your latest question, you'll lose your licence, have a police record which will bite you in the ass EVERY time you get pulled over in the future, risk the car's safety (if the cop claims you were "street racing" they can crush the car. No matter who owns it), not be able to get your licence back for an extended period of time etc

Maybe you should take it for a drive and get caught. I bet the lesson would be learnt then. Your mate would learn a lesson aswel when the cops start defecting the gtr while you're trying to talk your way out of the driving charge.

A legal option is to take it to a trackday.

You'll need a track licence, prebooked trackday, helmet, proper clothes and the gtr has to pass scruitineering.

Budget about $450 for all of that plus whatever wear the car cops and a shitload of petrol.

Although the car will be subject to a lot more stress than driving around the block, so your mate may retract the offer.

Here's another "first time gtr driver" (seriously, just like the link above the owner is known on these forums)

Oh look, a p plate.

It was a very easy 3rd/4th gear piece of road as you can all see.

The car was beyond fixing, so it was stripped then cut in half.

This type of P-plater....... is "P" for "P"OOFTER!

SERIOUSLY.... you still dont get it do you? P'platers problem is that...not only are they inexperienced, they are over confident with the "oh i finally can drive...ill show you all!" attitude.. thats when shit hits the fan... and the pics shown above gives you ONE example out of, MANY!

i dont mean to sound blunt, but your going around in circles here....

you know what the BEST thing is for you???? TO just try it.................. let us know how you go.............

just do it.... ok?

you must be the type that is really thick and never learn or Know unless you try.........

keep us posted

show us any pics too.....

Hay guys got a question or you i have just recently got my P's (red) i am asking if i drove my mates GTR r32 would he or i get in trouble if pulled over by the cops, with my mate sitting in the pasenger seat ?

If you got your license in a state without the car restrictions (like WA) then you can legally drive it, otherwise you are VERY screwed when they catch you & your mate will probably get a massive lecture for "letting you drive" from the cops as well.

Especially true during the public holiday times.

Edited by Mayuri Krab
not every single one of them...... but statistics have shown that MOST are.......

why do you think these restrictions took place?... they didnt do it for the love of god you know...

theres a reason for everything

no matter what anyone says...either way P-platers lack the experience on the roads.. and its not a good mix with an unexperienced driver with a high powered car, end of story.

Oh yes, i agree with all that, what i don't like is the whole "p platers are so horrible, but Anyone who has an open license must be 10 times better!" attitude. everyone under the age of 30ish was a P plater once. A persons level of maturity doesn't automatically go up the instant they walk out of the transport department office with an open licence in hand. Idiot P plater drives are idiot drivers. Idiot open licence drivers are also idiot drivers. The type of licence you have doesn't come into it.

Also fail to see how people are going to become experienced driving a high powered vehicle if they can't actually drive one when they think of themselves as still learning. They'll just crash on their first drive in one at 20 years old instead of 17.

The thing is though, by the time you hit your 20's, in my experience at least, you tend to grow out of trying to impress chicks or your mates with your shameless, silly simple minded shenanigans. Especially after witnessing a few accidents where speed was a factor.

There were some stats in today's paper about the percentage of people on their P's here who made up the total of 73 cars impounded here in the last year, and it was over 70% IIRC.

I'm really glad I didnt get my Skyline when I was 18, cause I know I would have treated it like a piece of shit, but I tend to agree that a blanket ban on ALL V8s, turbos etc is ill founded, idiotic and insane.

Mainly due to the fact that the misguided, malevolent miscontents now just pour litres of oil down everywhere and do 'farken burnouts' in V6 Falcodores, and well who gives a stuff if your VN V6 does a bearing, or fries its rings, cause a new motor is around $500 from your friendly wrecker.

The amount of new P platers finding nice supra's to molester due to not being able to drive anything really fast also worries me.

Sad to see....By any chance did this one occur in the Liverpool/Moorebank area a few years ago ?

I remember seeing one identical to this up for sale at Mindaree auctions

read what Bozodos said..... when your 20, your alot more mature than you were at 17

giving a high performance car to a 20 year old is better than a 17

high performance car for any inexperiened driver is not the way to go........

Agreed

I found that I drive more carefully when there are people around or in the car, as I don't want any extra unwanted attention.

You get too much unwanted attention from douche bags screaming "do a burn out!!!" just driving normally pass by, don't need to make it worse by doing it.

Finally I don't see the point for a burn out, bloody waste of tires (& $; might as well just throw $ down the toilet) & the burnt rubber smell makes me dizzy :D

yeah well this will make you more "sad"...

no matter how fast he was going, wouldve been Slower than that..... "Dousset" or watever his name was... 20 yr old guy from the Central coast (EVL R34)

Smashed in Sylvania, parted in Kirrawee.

Hay guys i did drive the gtr on my L's just down the street ... and when will i be able 2 legaly drive a turbo car on green P's ?

you should not be allowed to drive on any coloured P's under the new law under any circumstance unless exempted.....

the people you see with P's are either :

1.) breaking the law....

2.) Got the car + Liscence just before the new law kicked in 2006 and is exempt.

but by now....the people who did that shouldve moved onto the full liscnce...so dunno whats going on there.

or

3.) people love the P's ..5 - 6 points or watever it is.. and just keep renewing thier P's plates and not wanting to move onto full liscence just to piss new P'platers off..............

4.) got some sort of bogus exemption to allow them to drive the car i.e a mechanic apprentice or something along the lines.

(which would probably change one day)

so its either 1 of the 4.

    • I thought I'd do a write up on an auto transmission fluid change for a the nissan 7 speed Automatic. At some stage the genius engineers decided that the fluid in the trans was "for the life of the transmission", (which seems kind of self supporting to me) and removed the dip stick and fill tube (funnily enough there is still a casting for it). Anyway, for this job you do need 2 specialist tools in addition to regular hand tools, jack and good chassis stands. You need a way to pump fluid up to the transmission; I got one of these but there are plenty of other options: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/364584087070 Don't trust the generic listing though, it does not come with the required adapter for the Nissan 7 Speed. You need one of these, can't do the job without it: https://navarapart.com.au/product/genuine-nissan-patrol-y62-d23-np300-navara-re7-dipstick-fill-connector1 You need a heap of compatible transmission oil. Could be Nissan, could be anything else rated for Nissan Matic S. You need at least 10 litres, I had 15 to give it a better flush... Also, you need some biiig oil catch trays, at least one of these, or bigger if possible (volume was fine, size was very marginal): https://autobarn.com.au/ab/Autobarn-Category/Tools-%26-Garage/Specialty-Tools/Oil-Service/Garage-Tough-Oil-Drain-Pan-Black-16L---GT1068/p/TO03191 Finally, a measuring jug is very useful if your pump does not have volumes marked on it, I got a 6l one: https://www.repco.com.au/oils-fluids/fluid-accessories/measuring-jugs/penrite-measuring-jug-6l-pmj006/p/A5322648 Oh, and gloves.....this stuff is horrible (not as bad as diff oil, but getting there) ....First, jack up your car.....
    • So I mentioned the apprentice, @LachyK helped take the bonnet off. We just undid the nuts on the hinges and unclipped the gas struts, then pulled the bonnet back a little as the front was catching on the front bar.  I had a good look at everything today and have removed the rams, repaired/reset the hinges and bolted it back together like it never happened. I'll do a separate write up on the repair, and I also removed the poppers from the Fuga today too to save grief down the road.....as said above it is at least $5k to repair retail. I'm also happier about my ability to prepare a race car, and less happy about Nis-nault's engineering (I can hear @GTSBoy sAfrican Americaning) because the top hose of the radiator didn't slip off.......it snapped clean off. By practice I put the hose clamp hard up against the flare on a neck to make it least likely to ever move (thanks @Neil!). I guess that puts a little more pressure on the end of the pipe as it is further away from the rad, but still, that is pretty shit. I've put it back on for now as there was a fair bit of neck still there, but obviously there is no lip on the neck any more so I don't think I'll track it again until I have a new rad. Speaking of which....more research required. It looks like Koyo makes a standard size radiator in ally which I'll grab in the meantime, but I really want something thicker so might have to go custom in the medium term (ouch) Coolant still needs a refill and I have the pressure tester on it over night, but other than a wash down of the engine bay it seems alright. And @MBS206 noted something noisy on the front of the engine and I think I agree....time for a new accessory belt and tensioners I think.
    • our good friends at nismo make a diff for it, I have one (and a spare housing to put the centre in) on the way. https://www.nismo.co.jp/products/web_catalogue/lsd/mechanical_lsd_v37.html AMS also make a helical one, but I prefer mechanical for track use in 2wd (I do run a quaife in the front, but not rear of the R32)
