note to self dont buy your 044 pump from slide, last time i bought a 044 thru slide it arrived in a air express bag with no packaging (pump outside of box sliding around in bag) or invoice, worst service and company ever. sorry had 2 be said. plenty of other companies out there who look after customers parts 2 buy from.

The price seams ok for such an extensive build, a lot of mechanics under quote by accident it is just a fact of life. I should know cause our company also does it from time to time.

Maybe just go down and talk to him face to face calmly explaining that you are upset that you were told that your existing parts would support your requested power level. And would like to know if he could help you out with a retune if you source some other parts.

Just get a Nismo adj FPR and a new fuel pump and maybe source a second Z32 AFM and run a twin afm intake and just be happy with what power you get then, which I am sure will be enough to scare the living crap out of you anyways. These parts should come in under $1500.00.

Good luck mate.

I also know who this workshop is...He tried to rubbish every ECU out there apart from the one I know he is trying to sell you.

Nice guy and all but but I kinda got the feeling that he thinks he knows more than what he does when It comes to skylines.

P.S Do you need your dipstick back?

Hi mate,

I am not worried about the engine build (actually, I was happy to pay a premium because I've heard excellent things about the builder).

By looking at the tuner invoices, it makes sense how it's amounted to that total, I am not saying it doesn't.

My issue is that I was quoted for something to be done, and it was alot more, and I still haven't gotten the power that I was assured I would get. Not only that, the tuner wants me to spend more money....

Oh, and my alternator was fine when I drove the car in, 2 months later and I get a call from the tuner saying my alternator is faulty...

I couldn't help but think, it was fine when I drove it in there.................. Nonetheless, I sucked it up and paid for it.

I know what you are saying but what I am getting at is that he simply underquoted. It does happen, yes it sucks but I'm sure he didn't do the whole job without updating you on price the whole time. Did you just drop the car off and then pick it up 5 months later and paid $22k on the spot? I don't think so, why were you not asking him these things when the bill was at $14k? He has obviously just made an honest mistake but I'm sure he got confirmation from you throughout the build and you may just be upset because you didn't get the power you were told it would get?

If you made 400rwkw, would you have been posting here complaining about the $22k? Or is it just because it was $22k and 311rwkw?

To start off, you don't need a new ECU yet. The AFM is going to be a bit iffy but their resolution should go up to 600hp. The injectors can stay until you hit 380-400rwkw.

Get yourself a new fuel pump, get him to put it up on the dyno again and see what he can do with it. I am sure you will be very surprised with the final result.

Hi mate,

Honestly but, do you think that even when the budget reached 14K and I approached him and said "hey mate, we're already so close to the budget, yet so many things still need to be done", do you honestly think that would've achieved anything?

No it would't, because we would have still gone down the same course of action. I don't want a half done car, I wanted my car to be finished with the original quote that was given, not $5,000 more.

Nonetheless, I am not going to go into this fruitless conversation with you. What's done is done, I can't change the past.

I need solutions from here.

I will be getting my 044 fuel pump (much better than 040), and a fuel pressure regulator to ensure my 555cc injectors hold up.

We will also be getting a Q45 AFM and see how that goes.

Cheers.

Ofcourse I am upset I didn't get the power I was told I was going to get.... shit, who wouldn't be?? Not only that, I ended up paying $5,000 more than the original quote for what it would take to get 370rwkw.

And yes, if I made 400rwkw, I wouldn't have posted the tread on here, I would've said to myself, "shit, we went over budget, but I got results much better than we expected"

But instead I am saying to my self, "shit, I went over budget AND I got results much LESS than what we expected"

It's only human nature to feel like some one f$%ked me with a pineapple from behind.

Thanks.

I completely understand where you are coming from. Just trying to get you to understand that he made a couple of mistakes, but in all fairness he has been extremely kind to you on the bill to make up for it. The original verbal quote he gave you was off by a fair amount. And he was wrong about the pump doing the job.

Why I was asking about the power vs money thing is because we are all here trying to ease your mind a little, and it gives me a better understanding of what you are prepared to do to get to your goal. The way I see it is this: You have already spent $22000 on it, if $500 will get you to your goal, will you then be content with the result. And you answered that in your last post.

I just hope that he's a good tuner and when the new pump setup goes in, he will be able to get you the result you deserve.

Sorry for the curve ball questions and comments, it just helps us give you better advice if we all know the whole story etc.

This is a bad situation but some good advice. Your so close to getting it right I wouldn't give up now. Your a champion for sticking with it. Maybe you can't change anything from the past now, but for others be aware, on these forums there are so many proven formulas that are guaranteed to make 370kws. Even if it was only $15,000 I would expect the guy to say," this is going to make blah blah power but if you want more you will need to spend $5,000 more." He should know, not guess the final ballpark figure. That's why people get "professionals" to do the work.

Finish what you started or you will be five years down the track wondering what could have been.

THanks for all the advice fellas.

I'll be getting an 044 and maybe 740 injectors if money permits (or a FPR if I am tighton cash).

Fingers crossed the Q45 will not max out before 350 rwkw.

Ill keep you fellas updated as to the progress.

Cheers

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
