Ba Xr8 Is Almost Kaput

Hi guys and girls,

My mates BA XR8 ute is having some troubles, we're told it's the CV joint and have got some pretty pricey quotes.

Does anyone know where I could source cheaper parts? Or is there any one out there looking for a decent sort of a cashy?

.......Alright so I spoke to my mate who in turn spoke to his mechanic who is swearing the CV joint needs replacing. Can anyone shed any light on this? Obviously we cant replace something that doesnt exist, on top of that the quote was $3,300.

Any help would be greatly appreceated and you might find a place in my will...

wow...$3,300 for a cv joint...

I dont know the price of skylines, but that seems pretty high considering my gf's charade got BOTH joints done for I think $~400 incl parts...

I know her car is worth 20 times less then yours but still....that seems massive unless there are known problems when fixing cv joints on ba xr8s...

If you in VIC I can tell you the mechanic we took hers to, really nice bloke and had them done the same day we dropped it off.

Hey all, cheers for the advice, we ended up finding a replacement unit for 450 so im not sure where the whole 3k deal came from!

for a full set of skyline ones would cost about $2k (for an R33), thats genuine nissan, cant find elsewhere unless its secondhand
