I will need to do a drift show in the end of the month. Showing off is a must. I was thinking of using my friends Bee*r rev limiter. Of course there are a lot of scary stories about bee*r being the ultimate engine destroyer. But on the other hand, some people use it and their engines don't pop. So either their doing something right, couldn't be pure luck ?

Want to know what you guys think about all this Bee*r thing. How to not kill an engine using it? (anticipating everyone talk me out of this lol)

the best way to not kill your engine with the bee r limiter is to keep it disabled. these things are very harsh on the engines.

If you must use one, then make sure you have a decent external oil pump setup and a decent harmonic balancer

lol EXACTLY what i was going to say :P

If you KNOW they kill motors, why even ask the question.

Its not as if there is some 'magical' way to stop the product from doing what is was designed for (a harsh cut, which is what kills motors)

Haha. Make this thread a joke. Remember the D1 BNR32 RB26 with Bee*R revlimiter and the old bnr324 bee*r car with light tuned rb26 ? All of them were bee*r equipped. I guess in the end its just luck if your engine survives, as I thought.

^ do you know for a fact they didnt have motor problems?

No.

Same as people probably didnt know back in the day of the turbo's on the mountain that after qualifying the turbos was rebuild/swapped before the race and they had only just done a qualifying run, but had totally shagged them by running 35+psi.

Just because something appears to be running fine for a race, doesnt mean its happy campers later that night

makes sense, what else to say. No BEE*R, such a nice toy haha.

if it was me.. i would chuck it on. put on a damn good show and worry about fixing the engine later if it dies. if not remove it and leave it :P

i drift lots man and bee r rev limit things piss me off. its the same when dudes sit on the limiter. its f**king gay please dont do it. if your after flames then tune your car to do so. sorry to harsh your buzz but most crowds are bogan and will prob think your car is breaking. at least thats what its like in brisbane.

the bogan crowds love flames they dont think its breaking they love it... but you would know that because you drift lots haha.

but agreed tune your car to do it.

increase the cut frequency, slow long cuts are bad fast rapid cuts are better with the bee r if you HAVE to use it.

Trent, thanks for the input. Hmmm. I still have some time to decide. Haha. I like the thought about worrying about shit after its happened. :) :) :)

Now need to convince my friend to get it from Singapore haha. :):P:D

we have just put an apexi power FC pro on a mates car. it cuts ignition not fuel on the limiter. it does it this way as the Power FC pro has launch control. one other feature it has that we didnt realise is when backing off it dumps fuel on over run and shoots massive flames. this is on a race car by the way.

after seeing how good it worked i considered the Bee R but after a few quick searches it looks like a crap pice of gear.

So besides every one saying its just crap what are the technical down sides

and also is the launch control any good on it?

sorry to hijack

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
