I have just purchased a new run about wagon/tow car so I am removing the roofracks & towbar from the Stag.

They are just no longer needed now I have a larger falcon wagon to do all my towing/transporting stuff. Which means now I can concentrate on modifying it. Anyways...

Towbar was made by Towbars of Woden & is rated at 2000kg (have paperwork)

Roofracks are Thule items and are rated at 75kg each bar I believe.

Towbar $550

Roofracks $250

To first buyer with $$$. I WILL NOT hold for 6 months while you try and sell your camira to pay for them etc.

Give you a better offer?

Mate as the seller here I think you should be making me an offer lol.

What sort of roofracks were they at Repco? Garuntee they wern't Thule, not at that price anyway.

$200 I will let them go. I won't be matching an inferior products price sorry.

BTW these roof racks have key locks and are adjustable. Once locked they can not be moved and are 100% secure & safe.

  • 1 month later...

Hey mate, just a quick question did you buy the towbar for the car or was it previously fitted when you bought it? I am just wondering at what cost it was to build and install.

Cheers

gee thanks.... STILL had the money here ready to go and someone to pick it up straight away... thanks for keeping me in the loop there.

that's life i spose.....

D.

Sorry mate.

I had like 8 people interested and all were waiting for me to remove it.

I have been answering PM's for the last month or so explaining that as soon as it is off the car I will let them know.

I had even refused several peoples deposits because I was not 100% sure exactly when I would have the item removed.

I didn't want to commit to a sale and take a deposit and stuff the person around for weeks because I didn't have the time to remove it.

Anyway, I pulled it off today, updated the post stating it is 100% available on a 1st come 1st serve basis.

I started replying to PM's that it was ready to go but I had to wait several minutes between posts and this was too time consuming

(I am a busy man hence the length of time before I could remove the towbar). And I sold it to the 1st person that comitted to buying it. I am sure there is another 7 people peed off with the situation also, but I feel I did the right thing by not committing any sales before it was actually ready to be sold (hence no promises or deposits taken).

You had it advertised 8 weeks ago! :/ Of course people will be upset when you advertised it 8 weeks ago. What did you expect?

You words were:

But they had to wait around for you to get off your ass??? :domokun:

I advertised the item 8 weeks ago because I was supposed to have some free time then.

It turned out I had ALOT on for work & a deadline to complete the jobs and never got the time off that I was supposed to recieve untill now (several weeks later). I also had to cancell pre-booked holiday accomodation which I lost a small amount of cash on as well as several other planned events and let down a Mr's and kids, so don't think I purposely stuffed anybody around or took my time removing it as it was not a case of "getting off my ass" as you state. I had very valid reasons why I couldn't do it any sooner and I made this perfectly clear to those that messaged me regarding the bar. I told them directly that I am unsure when I will be able to remove it due to lack of time and for that reason I refused to accept a deposit or commit it to anybody untill it was actually off the car. I was working 12+ hours a day 7 days a week in order to get this time off that I now have. And to be honest now that I have the time off I just want to relax not work on cars or have to explain myself or my situation to a bunch of internet users. It was never a case of being lazy or stuffing people around. I had obligations & priorities that far outweigh the importance of any member of this site (which by the way are complete strangers to me). Sorry buddy but my business, finances & family come wayyyyyyy before some dudes feelings on the internet especially over something as petty as a towbar. I'd rather upset some users here then risk losing business & finances etc.

As I said above I am sorry to those that feel somehow jerked around and yes I do expect some people to be upset about it (I wasn't complaining I was simply appologising) but whats done is done and it was out of my hands. Anyway realistically I was not obligated to sell to anyone anyway just as they were not obligated to buy from me. I never put it on hold for anybody nor did I tell anybody it was theirs. I was upfront with all enquirers that it is still on the car and as soon as I get the time to take it off I will let them know when it is available. If this isn't good enough for anybody then PM a mod and ask to have action taken against me. Because I don't particularly want to hear it hey. I am off to enjoy my long awaited free time. Enjoy...

Anyway the items are sold.

I couldn't care less about people bitching about it, I have appologized not much more I can do.

Sooooo, feel free to lock the thread as there is nothing more to sell or say to the members here...

    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
    • Place the new daughterboard in the case and mount it using the 3 small black rivets provided, and reconnect the 3 factory ribbon cables to the new board Then, use the 3 piggyback cables from the daughterboard into the factory board on top (there are stand offs in the case to keep them apart. and remember to reconnect the antenna and rear cover fan wires. 1 screw to hold the motherboard in place. Before closing the case, make a hole in the sticker covering a hole in the case and run the cable for the android unit into the plug there. The video forgot this step, so did I, so will you probably. Then redo the 4 screws on back, 2 each top and bottom, 3 each side and put the 2 brackets back on.....all ready to go and not that tricky really.
    • Onto the android unit. You need to remove the top screen because there is a daughterboard to put inside the case. Each side vent pops out from clips; start at the bottom and carefully remove upwards (use a trim remover tool to avoid breaking anything). Then the lower screen and controls come out, 4 screws, a couple of clips (including 3 flimsy ones at the top) and 3 plugs on the rear. Then the upper screen, 4 screws and a bunch of plugs and she is out. From there, remove the mounting brackets (2 screws each), 4 screws on the rear, 2 screws top and bottom and 3 screws holding in the small plates on each side. When you remove the back cover (tight fit), watch out for the power cable for the fan, I removed it so I could put the back aside. The mainboard is held in by 1 screw in the middle, 1 aerial at the top and 3 ribbon cables. If you've ever done any laptop stuff the ribbon cables are OK to work with, just pop up the retainer and they slide out. If you are not familiar just grab a 12 year old from an iphone factory, they will know how it works The case should now look like this:
    • Switching the console was tricky. First there were 6 screws to remove, and also the little adapter loom and its screws had to come out. Also don't forget to remove the 2 screws holding the central locking receiver. Then there are 4 clips on either side....these were very tight in this case and needed careful persuading with a long flat screw driver....some force required but not enough to break them...this was probably the fiddliest part of the whole job. In my case I needed both the wiring loom and the central locking receiver module to swap across to the new one. That was it for the console, so "assembly is the reverse of disassembly"
