The Gun
hi guys sorry if some of these hav been answered before couldn't find a straight simple answer. First of all im looking at buying a r32 gts4 and iv got a rb25det rwd (was planning to sell) sitting in my shed from a previous car and was wondering would it bolt up? computer? or would stuff havt to be change due to the different gearbox? also how reliable its the awd attesa drive train and electronics? and would a standard rb20 bolt up to it if i was to blow a motor or would i need a another gts4 motor? availability? im also tossing up just buying another gts-t which i know the rb25 will fit pretty well fit straight in, but was thinking the awd would be nice in the tight stuff and make it stick like s*#t to a planket on the track. but i also like to hav a slide every now and then is the balance all thrown out??? is it worth the extra weight and complications??? for the awd? i know the gts-t already handle great. any tips would be greatly appreciated. cheers kel. heller44
Welding won't really help you with the sump issue. GTS4 block is different to the standard gtst block. Front diff lives in the sump, so block accomodates this. If you really have to have the gts4, and need (not want) to do an engine swap, How about getting hold of an rb30 block and an rb25de head, use a sump adapter and read forums for others that have done this. Long run, I'd say don't bother unless you have a lot of time on your hands and can do almost everything yourself. As much as I hate to say it, buy a gtr with a rebuilt motor and replaced turbs. That is what you are trying to build anyway and you get all the good bits that go along with it. Also, don't expect people to reply in just a couple of hours, especially since this question has come up quite a few times. If the search function is being stubborn, try using different terms, sometimes it doesn't like me either. Recently there was a young guy on here that fitted a stagea rb25det (stag was 4wd as well), maybe chase down that thread.
