Righto so, while Olivia's away and not doing anything Cj, Tobin, and I are going to hopefully try and keep up the cruise organisation that she's been doing.

Hoping to run this on either the 19th/20th of June, depending on which has the most interest. Either that, or we really can just run two cruises, since it's the weekend exams finish!

Just a thought though is that, since Citywest is a big meet point, how would everybody feel driving down one of the main strips in Northbridge on our way somewhere? I've been talking to Cj and Ben about this and our feelings were...

Pro's:

It'll look really cool (Always good)

We can go straight to a freeway afterwards

Con's:

Police on every single corner/road/alleyway/club/pub/nook anc cranny.

Drunk people EVERYWHERE.

Anyway, feedback on that would be wicked, if it's too much we can always just avoid the whole place =]

I'm always up for a cruise, and CityWest carpark is always a good meet point as it is large enough to accomodate plenty of cars + it is a central meet point.

As for driving through Northbridge, it will be good to show off, however, if you drive through Northbridge on a Saturday night, it would have to be no later than 10pm, as any later than that and drunk people are stumbling around aswell as a greater police presence.

Driving through Northbridge is a cool idea, but everyone must be responsible and not do anything stupid or the cops may pin our whole crusie.

But hey, I'm really up for whatever. Hills runs are the best imo :P

Kthxbai

Maybe next time Olivia =P Like I said, the Northbridge idea is good but there is the issue of cops and such. Also, traffic is slow and annoying if its too late due to taxis.

P.S (Totally unrelated) Tim, the sub doesn't really give the best sound atm, need a new amp for it and head unit but I really just wanted to grab it off you to see if getting one was a good idea and for now I have enough on my shopping list =P

oh god NO!! Northbridge is a bad idea!

Stay away

This is just a thought but why don't you guys organise a monthly cruise on the first Monday of every month?

If you can't make it, then tough titties, you can come to next months club cruise.

And what's with the mods saying it can't have anything to do with sauwa??

Care to explain?

Edited by sami_

haha sami dont tell them to organise one the first monday of every month

thats my idea loser!

im organising that

but yeah seriously whats with the mods saying no cruises are to do with sauwa thats gay

and yeah skylineswa new club lo

Driving through Northbridge at night for a cruise = words cannot express the fail. The cruise would be broken up at every roundabout, intersection, people coming out of car parks, everything.

And what's with the mods saying it can't have anything to do with sauwa??

Care to explain?

Umm, mods and SAUWA are two different things. Mods moderate SAU (the forums), and SAUWA Committee moderates what the SAUWA Club does.

Hope that explains the difference.

And yes, Northbridge would be a complete fail ;)

cruise would be good but every time i have been in northbridge some drunk fool has thrown a glass/bottle at the nice cars that drive by the clubs. so that gives me a reason to not wanna go through northbridge. just my two cents

Righto, so it's pretty obvious that this whole Northhbridge thing isn't going to go ahead.

GTS-t VSPEC, I can see where everybody's coming from on the epic failure that they're all expecting, but y'know... You look in the wasteland, on any thread to do with police, or threads about other drivers, and (sorry about how much this sounds like I'm pretending to be an old kung-fu guru) all you see is hate. Sure, most of the "stupidest thing you've..." posts are funny, they're moreso infuriating because we're all here because we drive nice looking, and well performing cars. When cool cars drive down the road, I still get pretty excited to look at them 'n' all, and so I figure, for the effort it'd take from us, would it be so hard to drive past populated areas on cruises and have our fun showing off, and possibly raise our own reputation with general public for at least entertaining them for those four or five minutes that we drove past?

It doesn't have to specifically be there, but eeven just driving down Rockeby road would possibly be cool, for the attention we'd garner.

*End kung-fu guru rant*

Anyway, CJ and I've been driving around a lot lately just looking for cool places to put on the map, or things to make the cruise interesting, so it should be wicked regardless!

And for SweeT, all imports are fine =]

As per usual,

NO EXCELS WITH MASSIVE CARBON FIBER WINGS. Seriously, one nearly slaughtered me last night =]

SAUWA AND SAU are totally different to each other u have to pay to become a SAUWA member and then events are orgainised for you, they are alot smaller and are pre drivn and the such so that there is minimal cop/pedestrian annoyance. It cant be associated with SAUWA bcoz its not organised by SAUWA.

its like organising an even under your work just bcause you work for them it doesnt work you need it to be organisd by the people who have the powaaaaaaa, generally thats guys without skylines

Righto, so it's pretty obvious that this whole Northhbridge thing isn't going to go ahead.

The point of cruises is for the cars to stay largely together, going through Northbridge on a weekend night, that's just not possible. And yes then there is the danger of so many pedestrians walking around. Hell I even went through there one night, me with ANGR33 right behind me, for all of about a minute before she got held up. And then someone kicked her car for no reason. I would say you don't want that to happen to yours, or anyone elses car for that matter.

Not saying it will or won't happen, but it's not worth the hassle. Imports get enough attention as it is, considering through Northbridge now there are cops just about everywhere, all it would take would be one or two people to rev up their engine for shit to start going down. I guess my point is yes you can do it, but it's just not logical!

As a member of the SAUWA committee I would be willing to put my hand up to jump on board with those people willing to organise a monthly cruise to help organise & run them, if you are that keen to have them run as a SAUWA cruise, but that will be an ongoing discussion & nothing is certain yet.

Remember there is nothing wrong with organising & running a monthly cruise from the SAUWA events section on SAU, but the only difference is that it's not under the SAUWA name or the SAUWA cruise rules.

If someone does want to organise a cruise for the 19th or 20th I should be able to attend as well & see how it goes & how committed people are to running it on a monthly basis, and then it will be discussed & taken from there.

Cheers :P

Nathan

I think we've already decided against the Northbridge idea. However, the main cafe strip in Freo or Rockeby Rd in Subiaco are both excelent roads to cruise down providing no one does anything stupid like revving the engine or dropping skids. There arent as many drunk people walking around, you wont get help up as easily, and you'll have people admiring your car rather then trying to destroy it.

And I'll be free for this cruise regardless of date.

Wow... Thanks for feedback guys. Nathan I'll definitely be organising for the Friday the 19th, since it seems to work better fridays. If

Meet at 9.00pm

SOR:

Leech Hwy McDonalds

NOR:

Citywest carpark.

*I may see if I can shanghai another friend to set up a meet point further out towards the hills, so if anybody's interested hit us up with a comment so we can work out numbers*

Everybody's both welcomed and encouraged to bring friends and non-SAU import drivers, whether as passengers or drivers :P

All 'round should be fun.

    • Nah. Was just wondering if you were having a small stroke or if there was some slur/gaf/inside joke that I wasn't aware of.
    • That was a fark up, it's Salamanca Place I was thinking of. And now I'm curious as to what potential slur/gaf I have caused with Salamander Road, ha ha!
    • Actually everyone on the roads was really well behaved. The only person that did any minor tailgating was a local hoon in a Turbo Focus. Unfortunately we weren't going the same way so there was no grand initial D touge battle. Lots of people pulled over and let me through. The amount of "Hey man nice car, omg skyline, nice 34 man woo" was suprising. Like really suprising. Like almost annoying. My partner was obviously surprised, she'd never seen anyone in the real world point out the car/like the car/want to chat about the car before, so to have like 3 people per day mention it was notable, I could finally say SEE? SOMEONE THINKS THEY'RE COOL. Everyone was also pretty suprised about the weather. Every day was dry and about ~13-14C. Mount Wellington had a sign that said they close the gates at 9pm and I was heading up there at about ~7:30. It was VERY apparent that conditions were getting significantly worse by the minute on the way up and down. The road on the mountain was terrible though, it's no driving road. I have various suspension related questions now. Luckily it was only about 20 minutes from where we were staying to the top of the mountain as said Google maps. We only had the 2 nights in Hobart. We went to the Farm Gate Market though which was really good - And went down to the Hastings Thermal springs/caves down there during the day. I'd definitely be up for going back again, so luckily there's a few more sights yet to see. Didn't get to do the west coast/queenstown/cradle mountain so this was supposed to be a 'scouting' trip anyway of sorts if I were to one day do/take part in/organize a more car-focused trip. As for the boat, it wasn't bad. Well it was bad, but not in the way you're thinking. We did the night trip which leaves at 6:45 (though you have to be there ~2 hours earlier) and arrives the next morning at about 6am. There is nothing to do on the ship. If you plan accordingly and bring a book/tablet/show to watch/charger you can just chill out, take some Travacalm and just sleep through it. The food there is an extremely basic buffet that costs $32 a plate, or $14 for a $3 pizza. The way back we had a travel kettle and a few different types of cup noodles and made our own tea/coffee in the room. This was a far superior way to do it. At the very least book one of the rooms with beds. I guess as we were in the off season we didn't have room mates. You get an option for rooms with 4 beds (2x bunks) or a room with just the two bottom beds. There's also some option for a deluxe queen bed but it's much pricer. We've been on sleeper trains in Asia before so we figured this is similar (and it was)
    • You just gotta be really, really, really clear and decisive with what you want your end product to be. 99% of people who want this conversion aren't "I want to run a 295 front tyre!" so they don't really need the widebody. They just want the OEM body to look a little less dumpy, so bonnet, bar, skirts job done with some camber, stretch, slam. It's when you want that, but then decide to pivot later you get big problems. See also if you're willing to get an all in one fibreglass bar, and you're willing to accept fibreglass problems like cracking the entire item on a driveway, instead of just a piece attached to the bottom, etc etc etc. Decide this all before buyin'.
