In Warwick there is a track called Morgan park. Its about 2 hours south west of Brisbane. It takes me Just over 1 hour from Queensland Raceway. Most Wensdays are practice days at morgan and cost $55 for 1/2 day and $70 full day. No cams lic needed, just helmet and long pants and sleeves.

This wed is no different and I will be doing some testing there for most of the day. If anyone wants to come out and have a crack at the track, I would be happy to give some pointers and to show the way around the track. lines etc. Some of you would know it is where the Nissan Datsun Nationals were held at easter. In the sprints I came in 4th behind Mark Berry's Advan R34 GTR, Brad Botcher's GTR and John Penlington's Unique Auto Sports Z32.

Only real point to remember is that drift is frowned apon and if you go sliding around, even unnessacery powersliding you will probably be asked to stop or go home if you do it again. I have spent the last 3 years gaining some respect there and If you are going to be a wank out there, I dont want to know you.

Any how, Morgan Park is a top track, 2nd only to Lakeside in QLD is my opinion. If you think grip racing, time attack or sprinting is something you might like to give a go, come on out.

I would love to but busted clutch ATM , really want to see what my car is like as a cuirct car ..

Thats a shame it's on the same day but, you guys enjoy (the infinite crapness of) QR. That place is so ho hum to drive. I just can't get into it.

Jangles...... I wana see the ke stylin around the track, If u bring it 1 day, I will drive it!!! as for the purple ppl eater, might go 1/2 ok. I might suggest some minor setup changes though.

One day when you have a car with some real grunt you'll understand why we do like qr Nod. Its a power track baby, Probably the safest track in the country and ample opportunity to give it the beans.

mmm but what is power with out concequence or controll or handling? Obviously a track that is a series of drag strips linked with corners that offer little in the challenge department suits some cars and drivers. When Paul goes back to Lakeside give me a hoy and we will see how my lowpowerd GTST stacks up with the big power GTR's on what is a power track with the forementioned inclusions.

agree 110% with Noddy. The reasons Noel listed are exactly why we don't like it. Its not technical at all, not challenging and there is very little way for a driver to make up any time over more powerful cars. I go to race tracks for the corners. The more difficult, faster, and challenging the better! Anyway, it probably beats being stuck here at work...

plenty of opportunities to drive Lakeside now Noddy. I'm taking the Sil80 out there again on the 2nd of August for the next Lakeside Open Sprint round which allows unreg and/or race cars. As does the Midweek Sprints - next Midweek Sprint is Aug 20. If you're interested let me know, I'll give you the details of a guy taking group booking with discounted entry fees :pirate:

You.re missing the point harry. I am in complete agreeance with you on the more technical tracks. I love morgan and when I shut the car up enough I look forward to going back to the lake for the first time in over 30 years.

However, By having a powerful car it simply adds another string to your bow, Tracks like qr become very technical indeed if you can generate enough speed.

Proof positive is the fact that you dont like qr whilst hardcore flat out racers like the giant boys, Evo cam, Darren henig etc etc are there as often as they can be. By having very fast cars they simply add to their enjoyment and versatility.

It aint hard to turn the boost down to go run the other tracks but without some major modification you cant do the reverse.

lol, well the "hardcore flat out racers" can have it!

FWIW The one time I took my Datsun 1200 to QR I was a few tenths faster than one of those "hardcore flat out racers" who was there on the day. I don't know about him, but I was still bored to death with the track despite that time still well and truly being in the 2WD Top 10 a couple of years later. QR simply isn't a challenging track. The fact I was able to go as fast as him in a car I had never driven at speed before, in just 8 laps before the turbo studs came loose, shows how simple the track is to learn. None of the other tracks I've driven have been that easy to get really good times at. QR is Boring.

So what times did you run harry?

58.3 in the Datsun 1200 with CA18DET. If anything's going to make QR's corners interesting, its a light short wheel base car with leaf spring rear end.

I expect my 200rwkw Sil80 will be faster. I'll take it there to get a comparison time.

Farken ROFL! Those guys are all in the 53/55 second category Harry.

this was 2 years ago Noel. It was faster than him then.

Hennig's best time now after 2 more years of development and going there "every chance they get" is 56.18. No point comparing my $13,000 Datto to $100,000+++ AWD running 55s Noel

you're saying the only way to enjoy QR is at 53-55 seconds? how would you know anyway???

I wouldnt, I can enjoy qr a lot slower than that. 58.6 in my whale actually. I'm an old man according to most on here but I do marvel when those dudes come hurtling past me and can only imagine how much fun that must be.

Speak to them next time you come to time attack and ask them yourself, They'll tell you how much fun it is.

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
