Anybody keen on these carbon fibre cam covers for the RB25DET engine ? Its got the hump for the VCT inlet cam to specifically suit the RB25DET.

$350 each, brand new. If interested, email me at [email protected] and I'll get the ball rolling.

Cheers.

if so i would be interested in them and the front cover ( i already have a coil pack cover )

cheers

There is no carbon rocker covers available for the RB engine, however, there is something I can suggest. How about applying genuine carbon fabrics over the top of your factory aluminium covers ? What you do is, strip the covers back to bare aluminium, then apply epoxy resins over the top, lay the carbon fabrics and seal it with more epoxy. If its done correctly, you will end up with carbon fibre rocker covers ! This technique is called 'wet carbon' and is commonly used on showcars (doors, roofs etc) where it is way too expensive to use traditional 'dry carbon'. You could either use epoxy resins or even 2pak clear as a top coat to seal it, you might need to do a bit of fine grade wet/dry rubbing in between coats to get that glossy appearance, but it will be all worth it.

If you need some carbon fibre fabrics, I can help there too, even tho its about $100 for 1m x 1m.

ey man, sorry to be a party pooper but i gotta look out for fellow SAU users,

you can buy these on Ebay new even a one of purchase for $200.

the valley cover is $250.

Yep, if you want to buy chinese-made items that warp after a couple of laps on the track than go ahead. The mould I make mine with was originally taken from the ones you see on Ebay, but I pop mine out with 3 layers of carbon fabrics (which isnt cheap), not just one layer with fibreglass underneath. The ones I have contain absolutely no fibreglass at all that can deform under high tempertures.

If you wanna waste your money on chinese made crap - feel free, but I was disappointed with the quality of the one I purchased from them, that's why I ended up making my own mould.

    • How dare you sell your unreliable Skyline and buy a reliable, Toyota/Yamaha car with a strong gearbox, torsen LSD and Toyota reliability. At least you won't need to worry about oil pumps, big catch can, oil restrictors, blowing off power steering belts, sheering off 3rd gear, failing ABS relays/pumps, etc.
    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
