so ive just put coby exctractors and a 2.5 inch full exhaust system on my N/A r34, i used a 2.5 inch hi-flow resonator and a 2.5 inch hi flow dual tip 'european style' exhaust, its all VERY deep sounding which i wanted, but pretty loud, (as expected), so i want to keep the same deep sound but just make it quieter, would adding a second resonator help? or a second resonator with a silencer? but wont the silencer inside the resonator defeat the entire hi-flow idea?

Get a Varex. Extractors, HFC, 3" mandrel bent piping all the way back to the 4" tip cannon and it goes dead silent at the touch of a button.

too expensive, and ive already got a sweet muffler, just too much cabin drone, just need a way to tone down what i already have... i have room in the system for a second maybe even longer resonator, would this make a difference? any one know?

Yeah mines fair loud too, like at 100k's it just resonates through the cabin..

im sure another resonator would help your issue.. have you thought of sound deadening the boot? i was thinking of doing that... but you know effort.. :)

Nick.

The db test reading for a 6 cylinder should be carried out at 3200rpm and not be greater than 90 db @ 3200rpm

I'd get it checked first before modifying it

3200rpm is the legal test limit set by the National Roads and transport commission

a couple of muffler shops have told me that a second resonator will do stuff all and that i need to put a muffler in the system before the actual muffler...

noticed quite a difference in power, not necessarily more power tho.... cos in town there was lil difference, but once your on the highway going up to, and exceeding 100kmh the engine has alot more room to breath and there fore accelerates faster thru the gears, reckon a 2.25 system will have better power down low 'in town' but les room up top and fr future mods

anyways the shop that installed it listened to me drive away and said that they would warrent it for me so no worries!

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
